Misgendered and violent

OP posts:
VickyEadie · 28/12/2018 19:15

Pretty certain everyone in the world has seen it.

Pretty certain MN mods have been cowed into not letting us discuss it, though.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 28/12/2018 19:17

That's why there's a tonne of threads about it.

OP posts:
feministfairy · 28/12/2018 19:18

Goodness. That's an awful spectacle - and so aggressive.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 28/12/2018 19:19

It's certainly good that HQ have drawn attention to it by removing threads.

A perfect illustration of the vulnerability of transwomen. Poor delicate souls.

starcrossedseahorse · 28/12/2018 19:21

What a shocking video! Shame that is is EVERYWHERE now and that so many people will watch it how that they know they are not supposed to.

starcrossedseahorse · 28/12/2018 19:23

Such horrific oppression and bullying and threats of violence too. Awful to watch.

ToeToToe · 28/12/2018 19:27

It's frightening how aggressive that person is, to a very young man who is serving him.

Wonder if that young man will keep his job? Law C16, I believe, makes it a hate crime to misgender someone, doesn't it?

AnyFucker · 28/12/2018 19:27

Bumping

starcrossedseahorse · 28/12/2018 19:29

If 'she' complained I imagine that things could have got very sticky for the poor lad. He was incredibly polite in such a horrible situation.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 28/12/2018 19:30

But, but, but that never happens! Transwomen are the most oppressed people on the planet!

MargueritaPink · 28/12/2018 19:32

Here is The Sun's report. I wonder what their readership is?

I expect many of us have had experience working behind the counter, or still do. I certainly have.

I think the worse thing is a very angry customer - and one who is out of control aggressive, and making threats, is just so frightening.

Just on a personal level, in my short time of working at the checkout, as a young woman (about 18 - Saturday job in the 6th form) I had, maybe 3 or 4 very memorable, very angry customers - you know, not just a bit angry - but the ones who cause a scene - the sort who start yelling, and even threatening you. All were male.

nicenewdusters · 28/12/2018 19:34

I hadn't seen this until this thread.

He said it was obvious he was a woman. It obviously wasn't because a man and a woman both called him sir. Pink trainers and hoop earrings didn't erase his biological sex or male violence did they?

starcrossedseahorse · 28/12/2018 19:36

Come on nice you should know by now that pink = woman. #nodebate

nicenewdusters · 28/12/2018 19:37

It's no wonder transwomen want to use female only spaces. Imagine having to make them possibly confront that level of male violence ?

nicenewdusters · 28/12/2018 19:40

You're right starcrossed . I remember Pip Bunce, the Credit Suisse employee. He was obviously Pip when he wore his pink frilly dress to work, and not when he wore his dark coloured pin stripe suit.

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 28/12/2018 19:41

Terrifying individual, trans or not.

starcrossedseahorse · 28/12/2018 19:42

You've got it nice Grin

Absolutely this.

My Mum worked in retail massive floor lots of staff and random customers and found it scary at times with aggressive customers.

I did a summer late nights on a short staffed shift one where acting shift manager kept buggering off - I remember one evening racing for the male cook outside on fag break - as male customer was really screaming in other young waitress face and throwing threats at me– there was just me and her in building.

GreenHats · 28/12/2018 20:15

In answer to the OP - oh yes Grin

This. I think it would be bloody insulting to call a bloke 'ma'am' because they have slightly long hair and a bit of eyeliner. No different from calling every woman you meet with no makeup and wearing trousers 'sir'.

She did not seem to be making any attempt to pass as female- fair enough, but to then imagine that everyone who meets you will leap to the conclusion you are a woman is just deluded.

HamiltonCork · 28/12/2018 20:33

Now think you are all being very mean. It was obviously a woman as they had gone to all the effort of putting on a pair of size 11 pink trainers.
