Misgendered and violent

OP posts:

Maybe we should follow Prince's style, the woman formerly known as a man.

pombear · 28/12/2018 23:02

I'm sure this will have been posted before, but this evening's postings and discussion across the internet led me to this clip. Yet again unsurprising mask-slippage.

An US interview from 2015. Particularly at 2.08.

Regardless of what your politics are, and whatever you think of the people on the panel, I can't believe I've watched someone putting their hand on the back of someone's neck and threateningly saying "You cut that out now, or you'll go home in an ambulance" and the other panellists to defend that threat by saying the person threatened was being "quite rude".

What other grown-up, political debate would have panellists who'd countenance that type of violent threat because the other person had been rude?

And our concerns are unfounded and unfair?

TiaOscura · 28/12/2018 23:03

Whoever wrote the Sun article has a great sense of humour - a "fellow female" reminded Ma'am there were kids around

ShotsFired · 28/12/2018 23:18

Just read this on one of the dozens of FB pages linking it. Commenter makes a good point Grin

"Corporate- Sir, how may I direct your call....."

FloralBunting · 28/12/2018 23:21

I remember on Shapiro's Twitter, the response I enjoyed most was "Ambulances don't take you home, idiot."

ToeToToe · 28/12/2018 23:28

pombear yes I've seen that video. The writing was on the wall all those years ago.

pombear · 28/12/2018 23:31

Floral !! Love it.

I'd not seen the 2015 clip before, but it's just another example of that bubbling-under-the-surface aggression that pops up to the surface and shows itself from time to time from some of those under the infamous 'umbrella'.

Whether it's Zoe or 'Gamestop' stropper, the behaviour is familiar, disquieting, yet unsurprising, and triggered by a questioning of reality.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 28/12/2018 23:31

hmm

interesting video

it segued into Ben Shapiro's soliloquy response, complete with a helpful diagram showing how 'men and women's brains are wired differently'.

these right wingers make total sense on the gender question, but they're no allies when it comes to the liberation of women

pombear · 28/12/2018 23:34

And if they are happy to display such lack of control of their behaviour and anger in public spaces when questioned about reality, whether it's on a tv debate show or in a shop, where other people are watching, what hope do women who dare to question have in any more private, unwatched, unfilmed space have?

pombear · 28/12/2018 23:38

Bernard - I see what you're saying. But as per my previous post, by questioning the behaviour I'm not aligning myself to any of the panellists' political views.

If I disagree with a person's views, to me I don't think that condones he should be threatened with violence for his views.

starcrossedseahorse · 28/12/2018 23:46

Fucking hell that clip is more sinister than I remember. Appalling.

MargueritaPink · 28/12/2018 23:50

these right wingers make total sense on the gender question, but they're no allies when it comes to the liberation of women

I said this on the Peterson thread but it is an oft repeated mantra on here "do you believe women should be educated / vote/ get equal pay? If you do you are a feminist"

Shapiro does not call himself a feminist but I do not believe for one minute he does not believe in equality of rights and opportunities for women. I assume he does not support quotas or AWS. Many peopeopeople don't- I don't. He does not support abortion. His libertarianism does not extend to supporting prostitution. At the moment I think Shapiro is more of an ally to women than most of the Guardanista lefty bros.

FloralBunting · 29/12/2018 00:26

I agree with most of that assessment, MargueritaPink. I enjoy what he posts on Twitter that is often a lot more gender critical than I think even he realises, sharp as he is.

MargueritaPink · 29/12/2018 01:40

I agree. I think Shapiro is a lot more gender critical than he realises.

It's all a part of tribalism and he isn't immune to it. "Feminist" to him probably conjures up pictures of Lena Dunham (he put the knife into her that after appalling I've never had an abortion but wish I had incident) and social justice warriors wittering on about safe spaces at universities.

BubonicTheHedgehag · 29/12/2018 01:51

Regardless of the derail - that video still shows a man having a massive tantrum.

Is it solipsism? Entitlement? Narcissim? Control-freakery?

He is certainly aggressive and violent.

TinyRick · 29/12/2018 04:44

This is what happens when thousands of males ride the transwave online, get repeatedly told they are stunning and brave and a true woman straight off the bat, get told they pass and are beautiful and go out to the real world.

This is self id and self diagnosis and no 'gatekeeping'.

Poor Gamestop employee.

InionEile · 29/12/2018 04:59

Misgendering - it's literal violence, I'm telling you.

The raging, foul-mouthed, violent outburst by the misgendered individual is fine but the people who addressed them politely as 'sir', no - that's literal violence and it is KILLING transpeople!!

Clearly mental health issues are in play with the person in the video but how can anyone step in to help when suggesting mental health support is also 'literal violence'?

indieshuffle · 29/12/2018 07:55

Wow. That video says it all. Male narcisstic MH rage. Always the biggest and most righteous victim.

Pombear Thank you for posting that video clip. It really is incredibly sinister and threatening. IME only men who have the strength and aggression of men (and who intend to follow through) make this kind of calm assertive threat.

Kudos to Shapiro for not rising to it and realising in that split second how te actions said everything he needed it to.

And it is one thing for women to decide to call a transwoman 'she' but everytime I hear a man insist on it on behalf of transwomen, it never fails to feel anything but dominating.

CisMyArse · 29/12/2018 08:38

Imagine the poor woman who misgenders them in a personal space like a changing room or gym shower area FFS.

I think we really need to see whether they poor employee keeps his job. Watching him trying to stay calm and respectful, almost humble, was gut-churning. The lady in the scene was brave to speak out about his aggression but his blatant disregard for anyone witnessing his violence is frightening. Utterly terrifying for a child.

So sick of this shit. Why should anyone have to be respectful about pronouns to someone so dangerous and volatile, other than to placate him? Someone who is clearly mentally ill and now lapping up the power and glory of the all-powerful trans movement? Someone who may have previously had mental health support/possibly treatment but who is now going it alone as a brave and stunning woman FFS because 'trans'.

Sick and tired of seeing this. Sick and tired of true transsexuals being tarred by the same brush. Sick and tired of deviant and predatory men.

We really need to follow what happens to the store's employee. If he's sacked or reprimanded in any way, I'll be gutted.

sackrifice · 29/12/2018 08:42

Thanks for that video Pom.

Never any explanation of how a man 'changes' sex, but the obligatory 'don't be mean' and threat from the transwoman.

BareBelliedSneetch · 29/12/2018 08:58

The person filming was pretty brave. If they’d been spotted it could have turned even uglier Shock

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 29/12/2018 09:05

My point about Ben Shapiro was that just like trans ideology followers, he believes in lady brain. he just thinks that only people with XX chromosomes have one.

which is slightly less offensive than the TRA version, but does inevitably seem to move into some sort of explanation that men are in charge because of natural competence and women are more emotionally suited to wiping bums. or something.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 29/12/2018 09:07

and yes, it occurred to me that the person filming was brave. that 'lady' was definitely looking for a physical fight.

PipGoesPop · 29/12/2018 09:11

Don't understand why threads about this are removed or taken down from FB etc. Can someone please explain the actual reason because 'from the top' or 'it's literal violence' doesn't help. I get that TRAs are pissed off about it and requesting removal but what rules/laws are being broken here?

charis · 29/12/2018 09:14

I've just seen it peak-transing folk on a football forum. Excellent work. Keep it coming lads
