Misgendered and violent

I know it's from the Daily Mail, but I can't find anyone else reporting on it. I've never seen a woman tell a man to "take it outside" or aggressively kick a display down because they've accidentally been called "sir"... (hope the link works).

Ereshkigal: "It's hilarious how so many people reply earnestly to Titania McGrath."

It's a good demonstration of why you should never use sarcasm on the internet. An astonishingly large number of people don't get it, even if it's heavy-handed enough to hit you over the head and knock you out.

One question I have: probably millions of people have seen this video by now. Surely someone knows who this person is? Why haven't they been identified? (Not that I wish them harm but I think there's a good case for reporting them to the police for causing a disturbance and threatening behaviour, or whatever the Canadian equivalent is.)

Pink top and trainers,^ hoop earrings and a handbag should be enough to tell someone's a brave and stunning^ woman little...

Earlier this year something similar happened to my partner who volunteers at the local hospice shop. A customer came in during the summer dressed in baggy shirt and shorts, hair just off their shoulders. There was absolutely nothing to indicate that this person was transgender, nothing. My partner politely and innocently referred to them as "Sir" and they completely lost it, screaming and shouting and saying " how dare you I am obviously a woman. I am going to report you for treating trans people in this way, your shop is a disgrace etc. etc."

June 2018 Glasgow:
(extract)
"A transgender woman was left in tears after a shop worker refused to let her use a ladies’ changing room.

Jay Campbell was shopping for a dress in Debenhams in Glasgow when she was stopped from trying it on.

The 25-year-old from Carluke, Lanarkshire, has been living as a woman for two years and has been taking hormones for four months.

Jay said: “I was shopping for a dress for a friend’s wedding and picked a gorgeous green one. I asked the assistant if the changing room was open and she said, ‘Yes’. When I went to use it, she stopped me and told me I had to use the gents on the first floor.

“I told her I was transgender and she still insisted I used the gents.

“I went down to the gents crying and in shock. When I got there, the two women were the complete opposite – they were kind and helpful. They asked what was wrong and I told them.

“They were shocked and told me I should have been allowed to use the changing room up there.

“They also told me they had been trained in how to deal with these
situations. I won’t be spending a single penny in there again.”

Debenhams have said they are investigating the incident at their store in Glasgow (Image: UGC MSR)
Jay left Debenhams and went to nearby House of Fraser and said she was “treated like a princess”.

A Debenhams spokesperson said: “We are sorry for any distress caused to the customer. Debenhams changing rooms are not gender specific.

"We are currently investigating the incident.” (continues)

Argh weird italics failConfused

Correction, KF are not 100% sure. But they are raising interesting questions about transgenderism and the high incidence of ex-military people involved, which is a curious avenue to think about.

Well quite. The number of men who have been in the military, particularly late transitioners is phenomenal. Also, how many of them are in IT. Take a look at the trans-widows thread, it's extraordinary.

Many women have long noticed these characteristics coming together. The anime profile pic, is another one.

Wordthe · 29/12/2018 10:49

I wonder what the connection is then between military service and the inclination to be transgender?

There is a name floating around at the moment, but it's not 100% certain.

DIdn't a poster in another thread say that in her partner's unit someone had declared to be tg so as to have a lower bar to pass the physical?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/12/2018 11:09

When I was a teen I had a very short hair cut (as was the fashion in the 80s) and wore 501s and DMs. I was asked ‘excuse me son. Can I get by?’ by little old lady in Holland and Barrett.

Should I be seeking trauma counselling and should I have offered to take her outside and whallop her? No I just sniggered and said ‘a-right missis’.

Datun · 29/12/2018 11:10

I agree. I think the theory is that the shame their penchant for getting turned on by wearing women's clothes causes, has to be countered by being more 'masculine' in real life. Hence the very masculine occupations, military, male sport etc, fathering children, etc.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/12/2018 11:11

My services niece beat all the men on her training class and won the award for top marks (yes even the physical which she did the same as the men).

Datun · 29/12/2018 11:11

I am constantly amazed at the number of men who are more than happy to announce that they are trans. Is it an indication that there are far, far more cross dressers than anyone thought?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/12/2018 11:13

Wasn’t Hoover a cross dresser? I don’t believe he thought he was a woman. Maybe it’s more acceptable these days - but how 👗 = 👩 I will never know.

I think we should go back to calling it cross dressing, we could have MCDs and FCDs

charis · 29/12/2018 11:28

I did see (again, football forum) a story of a man identifying as a woman to easily pass a police fitness check. Men are getting there but they are still not really getting it and it's infuriating me tbh. How many rapes / lives will it take?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 29/12/2018 11:33

Men are getting there but they are still not really getting it

The general public is a year or two behind this forum, it's going to take them a long time to catch up. It's not their fault it takes years to educate and inform people what is going on.
This is true for both men and women who are only now just starting to learn what is happening.

Wordthe · 29/12/2018 11:41

If a picture is worth a 1000 words then a video clip has got to be worth at least a million, a few more video clips like that and everyone will get it

GeorgeFayne · 29/12/2018 11:44

I would be shocked if the Albuquerque (in the state of New Mexico in the US) police even investigated. It's an extremely violent city, and their law enforcement is fairly taxed by all of the other crime. And, it's pretty liberal, so my hunch is that this lovely "lady" would have public support.

morningtoncrescent62 · 29/12/2018 11:48

That Titania McGrath twitter site is brilliant! I've just wasted spent the best part of an hour reading it. She (or he? who's to know) has some brilliant take-downs of some of the nonsense spouted on twitter. I'm a bit worried that so many thousands of people clearly thought her tweet was for real - it shows how utterly ludicrous the TRAs' position has become when you can no longer distinguish what's meant in all seriousness from what is satirical.

Crookedcolours · 29/12/2018 11:51

Doesn't fit their narrative funnily enough does it?
