I am looking at the usual reporters, nothing in the mail have supported Linda so far and nothing from Kirkup yet. Maybe something tomorrow from Janice in the Times?

There is only this rightsinfo.org/linda-bellos-faces-trial/ here.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 30/11/2018 14:51

brilliant news

but yes, this was harassment. I hope Linda and Venice go after the individual that did this for every penny of their costs. Others need to be discouraged from bringing vexatious cases like this.

hellandhairnets · 30/11/2018 14:51

I think perhaps that, while they are having their lie-down, the Lawyer could do with having a good think about whether pursuing vexatious complaints in court are helpful to their proponents' "cause" in the long run, or whether they alert the wider public that there is something weird going on that looks an awful lot like intimidating, manipulative and harassing behaviour designed to shut people up and scare them.

Especially when such complaints are against well-known individuals and are likely to be reported in the national press where everyone can see them.

RedDogsBeg · 30/11/2018 14:53

Datun They must have known this wasn't going to fly. I don't think they did, I think they are so convinced of their right to do and say what they want and to have everyone, especially women, bow, scrape and submit that they arrogantly believed no-one would say dare say "No".

All that pesky testosterone fuelled male privilege and socialisation, eh.

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 30/11/2018 14:54

Tears of joy here! So proud of all these amazing women and so happy to stand shoulder to shoulder with you all.

nails2018 · 30/11/2018 15:10

Congratulations to Linda and Venice. Now l would hope that the Guardian, give Linda a voice to tell this story. Women are being harassed and bullied, come on Guardian, show us you you actually care about women.

Destinysdaughter · 30/11/2018 15:30

Trans bullshit meets cold hard reality.

Reality wins.

Hooray!😀😀😀

arranbubonicplague · 30/11/2018 15:34

It will be interesting to see if the CPS declined to continue with the prosecution because of insufficient evidence, the fact the part of the speech that forms the burden of the complaint was edited and de-contextualised or ???

PineappleSunrise · 30/11/2018 15:37

Wonderful news. Raising a cheeky afternoon Gin to Linda & Venice!

tobee · 30/11/2018 15:37

RaininSummer · 30/11/2018 16:09

This is such good news.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 30/11/2018 16:20

Great news! Although shame it wasn't put through court so that it was publicly proven in the cold light of day to be a whole load of vexatious, malicious bollocks.

StoatofDisarray · 30/11/2018 16:27

Excellent news :)

bottomflannel · 30/11/2018 16:29

Fantastic news!

hypnotizzz · 30/11/2018 16:29

Flowers Congratulations on a fair and logical outcome.

GrinitchSpinach · 30/11/2018 16:36

What welcome news!

re: they must have known this wouldn't fly vs. they had no idea the courts wouldn't leap to do their bidding... Based on the pattern so far, I'd guess the latter, and predict the next steps to be 1) rage 2) PR bid for martyred victimhood.

Deliriumoftheendless · 30/11/2018 16:38

This is good.

Stupid it went this far.

Micke · 30/11/2018 16:45

I just watched that clip from twitter - Well played Venice - that was an AWESOME clothing choice!

And great news - I'm glad that we're not so far gone that the court didn't see this for the ridiculous complaint it was.

theOtherPamAyres · 30/11/2018 16:49

It will be interesting to see if the CPS declined to continue with the prosecution because of insufficient evidence

CPS had already looked at the case, after the police were involved and Linda and Venice were interviewed under caution. CPS kicked it out for lack of evidence at that stage.

Hence the private prosecution.

It was never, ever going anywhere unless the private prosecutor could magic up some new evidence. Which they couldn't because there wasn't any. It was spiteful, vexatious and an abuse of the justice system. It needs looking at.

BruceAndNosh · 30/11/2018 16:50

American Toilet story
Is that a follow up series to American Horror Story?

Datun · 30/11/2018 16:51

Which they couldn't because there wasn't any. It was spiteful, vexatious and an abuse of the justice system. It needs looking at.

Would it be the CPS who put a stop to it? Or Kendall deciding at the last minute to not go ahead?

Because surely the CPS could have stopped it from the beginning?

Katvonblackdeath · 30/11/2018 16:58

TRAs = bunch of bullies
Utterly ridiculous to take this to court.
Note Stonewall liked Dr Haddocks tweet.
No time for Lesbians eh Stonewall?

Hope all going to night have a brilliant time and thank God it's over for Linda and Venice (who's outfit was so on point 👌)
