Lily Madigan and the School Saga

Lily Madigan has been self-praising again, with more details about how they "sued" their school.

They hired a "team of solicitors", to "advice" Lily and the "principle" gave in on all their "demands".

The truth is slightly different.

Lily arrived at school wearing basically a boob tube. They were sent home because it was against uniform policy. Any girl wearing that for school would have been asked to change or go home. It's clear Lily was looking for a reason to kick things off.

Lily was not "made to wear a man's suit". They were asked to adhere to the school uniform - like any pupil. The girls wear a blazer too and can wear a skirt or trousers; many girls choose to wear trousers and the blazer.

Lily organised a petition. It was an ONLINE petition, quite different to a paper one. The support Lily claimed she had is very difficult to prove.

The school's staff tried very hard to placate Lily. They had meetings with their mother, the pastoral care team, etc - and got nowhere. It apparently caused distress to Lily's younger sister who was at school.

Lily contacted a solicitor in London. Because of the Equality Act the school did have to cater to transgender pupils - and when the school was informed of their obligations they changed their policy in accordance to the Act.

There was no suing of the school. There was no legal action, certainly no "legal battle", as Lily repeatedly claims.

There was no victimisation of Lily. Afterwards, the school said they had tried very hard for Lily and their words and actions had been deliberately twisted.

And now Lily still says that "they won", they "got it all", and that they did all this behind their parents' backs, and then "embarked on a media tour".

Lily's parents knew about it all, right from the day Lily was sent home.

I just find it hard to believe Lily now suddenly has a job, after the criticism of her never having worked.

The PayPal thing - she talked about "being paid". Perhaps "being paid" for Lily is getting a donation.

Here’s a good Cripism “The young always have the same problem - how to rebel and conform at the same time. They have now solved this by defying their parents and copying one another.”

Sad Radicals

No worldview maps reality perfectly. But when a worldview encounters discordant knowledge, it can either evolve to accommodate it, or it can treat it as a threat to the worldview’s integrity. If a worldview treats all discordant knowledge as threat, then it is an ideology. Its adherents learn to see themselves as guardians rather than seekers of the truth. The practical consequences of such a worldview can be devastating.

This article is well worth reading. I don't agree with it all, but its certainly thought provoking. The comments are also interesting.

That was my take on it, as well.

Katvonblackdeath · 11/12/2018 07:51

Hold on. When I was at uni I was a cleaner (with bonus sexual harassment from the dicks in the office). We lived in shit hole dumps.
I got paid much less than the minimum wage.

It didnt magically make me working class though.

I got a degree, a professional job....

Silly lily

Katvonblackdeath · 11/12/2018 07:52

*we didn't eat coal

Katvonblackdeath · 11/12/2018 07:52

We definitely didn't get free clothes from a Sports Wear company

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/12/2018 07:57

I worked in a supermarket. Where’s me flat cap?

NotANotMan · 11/12/2018 08:59

I worked as a hotel cleaner and in after school childcare. Didn't get financially supported by parents as despite being solidly middle class they were also cash strapped and had 3 more kids to support.
At no point during this period did I stop being middle class Hmm

NotANotMan · 11/12/2018 09:00

Being a student and working a low paid job part time is almost the epitome of a middle class experience

dillydallyXX · 11/12/2018 09:10

Lily says that Puma send her free clothes as a "care package" from time to time. I think the truth is that because Puma sponsored the Teen Vogue segments, they send the participants a few free things.

Exactly. I'm firmly a MC professional and worked for less than what is now min wage in an Indian restaurant, a bar and Burger King while I was at uni, dealing with an almost unbelievable amount of sexual harassment and male entitlement on an almost daily basis, now I look back on it. It was character building I suppose and made me into the feminist i am today!

Lily really is clueless.

dillydallyXX · 11/12/2018 09:14

Do you think Lily has been a victim of sexual harassment and male entitlement at any stage in her life? Grin

No. I don't.

Luxury!
I lived in a cardboard box in the gutter and packed in a factory.
I'm very skilled at shrink wrapping and ..erm..tipping a cardboard box upside down and leaving 144 jelly boxes standing like a giant rubik cube, prior to shrink wrapping in dozens.

Ah! The old skills are lost these days. I blame Thatcher.

And where I'm from, some people refer to being "paid" when their benefit goes into the bank.
[Not a criticism just an observation]

hipsterfun · 11/12/2018 13:14

Care package?! Fucksake.

OlennasWimple · 11/12/2018 21:02

There's all kinds of things wrong with a self-IDed socialist accepting a "care package" of clothes produced by a major international company, probably using the labour of underpaid women and possibly children in unsafe conditions with a huge impact on the environment

dillydallyXX · 11/12/2018 22:37

Rest assured Lily will come up with a fully justified reason for taking freebies from a multinational and associating herself with the capitalist Conde Nast Vogue.

All Lily cares about is attention.

OP posts:
DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 12/12/2018 07:23

That would require joined-up thinking, Olenna. Not Madigan's strong suit.

Yep, Dilly.

HamiltonCork · 12/12/2018 07:50

Care package? How working class getting freebies via contacts at Vogue. What a grade A plum.

dillydallyXX · 12/12/2018 09:26

Too true.

But where oh where oh where is this elusive pub that Lily has been toiling in for minimum wage?

Queen Vic in the east end?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/12/2018 09:52

LM is now promoting sex work as a way to survive austerity as "work is work" (filing this with my reductive mantras collection which includes transwomen are women, brexit means brexit etc).

VickyEadie · 12/12/2018 09:55

Really? Is that on Twitter?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/12/2018 10:11

Yep
