I've received a twelve-hour ban from Twitter so I thought I'd take the chance to say hello lovely mumsnetters! Thank you for all the support and kind words and very proud to be on your side.

I'm not deleting the tweets because I stand by them and there's nothing offensive about them. See for thyself, fellow witches!

It's a minefield here. Blush

Iused2BanOptimist · 21/11/2018 17:54

Did you mean this person who appears to identify as a man, what with wearing blue, no lipstick, short hair etc.

This whole twitter gender thought policing reminds me of the Milgram experiment (as well as the emperor's new clothes of course). en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_experiment

I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I would have been one of the resisters and I know with equal certainty, so would the vast majority of radfems. I'm not surrendering on this for a quiet life. I miss my twitter mates already, but we'll still be mates when twitter has had its day and the whole racket of exploiting our content for their profits goes bang. We need some good old fashioned anarchy in the UK. Rrrighttt nowww!

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/11/2018 18:04

To be serious for a moment, it's probably worthwhile for any new arrivals to familiarise themselves with Da Roolz

www.mumsnet.com/info/trans-rights-moderation-policy

We know these threads are pored over by those with twitchy reporting fingers...

Melamin · 21/11/2018 18:10

I really think the wafers are a mistake.

I used to eat them too, but then I discovered the Teacakes and haven't looked back Wink

Needmoresleep · 21/11/2018 18:12

I had not meant to sound like the school prefect. Background is in this badly written article here www.wired.co.uk/article/mumsnet-moderators-trans-rights-debate

Dealing with peope who complain a lot is expensive, so Twitter in part may simply be making a commercial decision when giving into the shoutiest voices. MN mods have more balls than Twitter/Millwall/Wordpress etc.

DrSubtilis · 21/11/2018 18:15

I will be studying the rules tonight. I'm an uninvited guest here and I don't aim to give offence or provoke anyone. I'm still venting but I'll settle in before long.

birdsdestiny · 21/11/2018 18:17

Perhaps we should add a further question to the survey.
Can you see into people's souls.

DrSubtilis · 21/11/2018 18:18

Mumsnet - More Balls Than Millwall. That's a t-shirt that's just begging to be made. 😎

DrSubtilis · 21/11/2018 18:23

Birdsdestiny

I'd need a whole new prescription for that. 🤓

Iused2BanOptimist · 21/11/2018 18:25

Ha Birds Who were you in your past life?

LangCleg · 21/11/2018 18:26

DrSubtilis I don't care about Zoflora or loo brushes but it is vitally important to me (and nobody else because they are all heretics here) that you take a position on the Weetabix + mashed banana + hot milk issue. Yay? Or nay? (If it isn't yay, I'll take all your Tunnocks).

arranfan · 21/11/2018 18:30

Look, I can cope with the banana, hot milk, banana issue and even this:

I used to eat [Tunnocks Caramel Wafers] too, but then I discovered the Teacakes and haven't looked back wink

but if anyone starts advocating for the Tunnocks Caramel Logs, there will be ructions. I do my best to be open-minded but I have the lines I am compelled to defend.

Grauniad · 21/11/2018 18:35

Oh god, I shouldn't skim-read. My brain missed a few lines between the following -

I've never entered the loo brush wars because meh. But I have always wondered what one uses to clean 'concrete crap' if not something bristly?

a) anything ginger covered in chocolate.

arranfan · 21/11/2018 18:44

Good grief, the loo brush threads are vicious and no place for a newcomer to MN.

The comparatively gentler introduction to how you clean without a loo brush:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/housekeeping/1827968-Unpleasant-but-important-how-do-you-clean-your-loo

The limescale? temples fingers Boracic acid substitute and even citric acid are very good for this.

BouncingOn · 21/11/2018 18:52

please not the weetabix abuse again! I'm sorry as a newcomer that you're being subjected to this, however I'll raise your wafer with a fig roll. Beat that.

Oh and welcome.

LangCleg · 21/11/2018 19:04

please not the weetabix abuse again

Heretic.

OlennasWimple · 21/11/2018 19:07

Fig rolls are delicious but have an effect on me that, well, renders the use of a loo brush compulsory

(We often descend into food based conversations on here, though usually, it has to be said, in response to sealions)

VisitorsEntrance · 21/11/2018 19:09

d) what is Zoflora please?

What? Are you really an MNer?

Bowlofbabelfish · 21/11/2018 19:10

Tell me how you get concrete limescale off. We live in a really hard water area and our loo is going to end up with stalagmites unless I find a decent way. I’m assuming acid in some form?

arranfan · 21/11/2018 19:21

I've had success with moderate-very bad limescale with borax (or substitute) or citric acid - and both of these work well for maintenance. (I buy the borax and citric acid powders in bulk as I use the borax for laundry and other purposes.)

However, for reasons I can't quite fathom, I was recently staying in a friend's flat who had a drain cleaner that was neat, concentrated sulphuric acid - that stuff works Grin

LangCleg · 21/11/2018 19:24

I used to live in a hard water area. Load of vinegar down the loo before you go to bed. Softens it right up.

OlennasWimple · 21/11/2018 19:25

Limescale remover tablets left overnight. Use every week

BouncingOn · 21/11/2018 19:39

Repeat after me: Weetabix are wheat and deserve to be treated as any other respected wheat based product without banana based abuse.

LangCleg · 21/11/2018 19:46

LOL! No!
