I've received a twelve-hour ban from Twitter so I thought I'd take the chance to say hello lovely mumsnetters! Thank you for all the support and kind words and very proud to be on your side.

I'm not deleting the tweets because I stand by them and there's nothing offensive about them. See for thyself, fellow witches!

KnobOfStork

Thanks for your account of growing up with Tumblr; these stories are going to be valuable information once the mist clears (anytime soon would be lovely). I have an 11 and an 18 year-old, and I always wondered why my older (daughter) is watching my youngest (son) like a hawk, to check what he’s doing online. She talks about Tumblr like a place with some Very Dark corners. She’s got 6 or 7 trans friends (not necessarily medically transitioned), and is somehow managing to navigate with her head still screwed on. She puts it down to humour, and not being afraid of laughing at things! That’s surely one for our dear Glinner - there are many ways of doing the good work on the ‘wrong side of history’.

Being a bleeding-heart liberal by disposition, I didn’t have any of this on my horizon until a certain MB started warbling about pussy hats being exclusive. Next was stumbling on a thread about the Cotton Ceiling. That penny weighed a ton, and dropped straight to the core.

brizzledrizzle · 18/11/2018 11:44

Twitter needs it's brain cells fixing.

Welcome, and thank you.

Midnight21 · 18/11/2018 16:47

Fact is any "movement" that turns on the people they purport to represent is highly suspect.Transmen seem to be virtually invisable.Wonder why that might be? I have stopped trying to justify myself online. The people whoknow are fully aware.I'm not"transphobic",that's what counts. This young person has been excluded from a potentialy valuble source of support.Bullys.Misogynistic bullys at that.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 18/11/2018 17:13

I've posted on this thread but I have realized I never actually greeted our welcome visitor. Starstruck, that's me.

Delighted to have you here, Glinner. You've had loads of booze. Have some Brew and Cake.

OlennasWimple · 19/11/2018 18:39

Ah now, did anyone warn Glinner that he was entering a radicalisation portal by engaging with FWR?

BesmirchingMotherhood · 19/11/2018 18:49

Olennas, Glinner is a radicalisation portal.

DrSubtilis · 21/11/2018 16:43

I'm (@Dr_Subtilis) in twitter jail too, for the same offence as glinner. My thought crime was tweeting "Jonathan Yaniv is self-evidently not a woman." My suspension is 12 hours starting from when I delete the tweet, which I have no intention of doing. So I'm hanging out with radfems on mumsnet for a while. Thank you for having me. I'll try to be as unobtrusive as possible. Smile

Melamin · 21/11/2018 16:47

I'll try to be as unobtrusive as possible

Lots of threads to subtly infiltrate, if you are in the mood Wink

arranfan · 21/11/2018 16:48

Thank you for having me. I'll try to be as unobtrusive as possible.

Actual raucousness might be frowned upon but participation in discussions? Looking forward to it. Grin

Good to see you here. You'll find there's quite the community of people awaiting the gulags or on parole from biological facts jail.

Needmoresleep · 21/11/2018 16:52

Welcome!

Our mods appear more robust than the snowflakes at Twitter, but it is worth bearing them in mind if mentioning some of the more sensitive internet characters.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/11/2018 16:58

Welcome DrSubtilis, I have long been an admirer of your twitterings.

It is a condition of posting here that you tell us

a) what is your favourite biscuit
b) whether or not you use a loo brush
c) how many family meals you can get out of a chicken
d) your opinion on zoflora

LangCleg · 21/11/2018 17:18

I'll try to be as unobtrusive as possible.

Oh, don't do that! Welcome to the radicalisation portal.

FloralBunting · 21/11/2018 17:19

I once got three weeks of meals out of a chicken. The meals she cooked were great, but she was a right snotty cow about doing the washing up.

sackrifice · 21/11/2018 17:27

Welcome Dr S.

DrSubtilis · 21/11/2018 17:28

Thank you all for the generous welcome to this cuckoo in your lovely warm nest. When I say unobtrusive I certainly don't mean inactive. I'm looking forward to joining the discussions. Most of what I've learned in life has been learned from women, beginning of course with my dear sadly departed mum. Now, to the burning issues of the day:
a) Tunnocks caramel wafer (I'm Scottish, so it's a no-brainer)
b) Hell no! Horrible thing. Like a shitty stick. We don't have a shitty stick in our loo either btw.
c) None. My other half and I are veggies. But my mum could feed five of us, once, with leftovers for sandwiches. I always got a leg.
d) I'm agnostic on zoflora, but it's a question. I like disinfectant to smell of ... well... disinfectant really.

DrSubtilis · 21/11/2018 17:29

Thank you. Lovely to be here.

Datun · 21/11/2018 17:33

I've never entered the loo brush wars because meh. But I have always wondered what one uses to clean 'concrete crap' if not something bristly?

AncientLights · 21/11/2018 17:34

I wasn't asked those questions when I first posted Bore so I will answer them now:-

a) anything ginger covered in chocolate.
b) of course! They are a necessary evil - please explain the alternatives unless you have a bum hose, like I had when living in SE Asia.
c)probably 4 or 5 if you count the stock I make from the bones etc.
d) what is Zoflora please?

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/11/2018 17:39

Thank you for responding to the survey.

I should perhaps warn you that some of your responses may prove contentious Grin

DrSubtilis · 21/11/2018 17:40

But then you have the issue of how to clean the bristles. It seems more hygienic to use something that's flushable. But having a brush doesn't make anyone a bad person. Walking away and doing nothing does that.

FloralBunting · 21/11/2018 17:40

I mistakenly thought zoflora was a type of margarine. I'm glad I know now.

I have taken a stiff round ended knife to clean the encroachment of concrete limescale down the toilet before now, with me marigolds on. Considering I'm the only bugger that does it, I'm quite happy to use easy options and I don't know another way than a big brush to clean the bowl. Perhaps Zoflora would help? Now I know it's not marg.

DrSubtilis · 21/11/2018 17:41

I forgot about the soup. This changes everything.

DrSubtilis · 21/11/2018 17:42

Dont use marg. It adds to the fatballs (dont ask).

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/11/2018 17:43

See! Point b) is already dividing opinion!! Grin

AncientLights

zoflora

I prefer bleach

FloralBunting · 21/11/2018 17:46

I didn't have any intention of putting marg in the toilet bowl, just to be clear. I don't even like it on toast.
