Oh my god.

TheOtherPamAyres Is the LGBT Foundation you mentioned at the beginning of this thread, the one with a regular kink night, the same organisation from which one of Mordaunt's new advisor on the Womens and Equalities LGBT Advisory Group comes?

SunsetBeetch · 12/11/2018 17:29

That Kero guy is disturbing! Not really convinced by his denials

JackRoth · 12/11/2018 18:34

Greetings all,

I'm the Jack who started the Twitter thread about pedo furries. I heard it had made its way over to Mumsnet so I created this account to say hello & say thanks for discussing it here. I've learned one or two things through reading this thread that have given me food for thought.

Discovering the blatant sadomasochist, pedophilic themes among the images was a huge wakeup call for me and it's still early days so I'm not sure how to proceed, but I won't be doing nothing!

Something else that's struck me is that so many women feel like it takes a bloke to say something before people will listen. I don't fully understand why that is yet but it makes me sad. I'm learning a great deal about women's struggle through my followers on Twitter but it'll take time to assimilate.

I'm appalled by what I've learned about the dark side to the Furry subculture but it makes perfect sense to me that predators would be attracted to it! Urrrgh.

It's not that I was unaware of how predators operate or the sickness that drives them, but it opened my eyes to the prevalence of PIE aficionados among the Trans Activists I deal with every day, and I'm seething that they're shoving it in our faces like it's a joke!! That really pisses me off!

As I read this thread my heart broke for you. You shouldn't have to deal with things like this just to get your kids safely into adulthood, but here we are nonetheless.

I hope we can all make a little bit of a difference, no matter how small.

Jack

Welcome Jack!

OlennasWimple · 12/11/2018 18:45

Hi Jack! I think the short answer to your question about why a man's voice gets heard where women don't is "because patriarchy" Smile

JackRoth · 12/11/2018 19:02

Thanks for the welcome, Ereshkigal! 👍👍

JackRoth · 12/11/2018 19:03

Sounds like a reasonable answer, I'll take it! 👍👍

A trans girl is currently asking for advice on Reddit regarding make up, eyebrows etc.

They want to know if they should carry tampons incase people ask for them (note people, not women) and where they can find cute glasses.

The OP is just asking the standard stereotypical 'how to be a better looking girl' questions, but what made me look twice were the comments.

A user suggests connecting with the Furry community and the OP replies that they are already a Furry.

The Furry link keeps coming up time and time again. It is like the chicken and the egg though...do people find the Furry community online first and then look at their gender identity or do they come across Furry material whilst looking for transgender information?

I can't post the screenshot of the comment, but it is around halfway down in the comments list.

FermatsTheorem · 17/11/2018 22:00

Rather disturbingly, this is the second time this week I've seen the "when I go into the ladies 'cos I like totes pass, should I take tampons because of course women will ask me if I have any and some of them might even want help inserting them" fantasy. Seemingly independently. Bleurgh.

Prob goes back to the 'appear interested In Women's issues' guidance.

Found the twitter of transanarchist sadgirl... you can see the picture that got them banned from Facebook. Their weird fetish shit hasn't taken off on Twitter but their Facebook was at 4k and growing.

To be honest they were / are a really mixed up individual.

FermatsTheorem · 18/11/2018 08:25

Prob goes back to the 'appear interested In Women's issues' guidance.

Possible but unlikely. Being interested in women's issues would be having a spare pound coin in case anyone asks you if you've got change for the tampon machine (similarly unlikely - in 50 odd years on this planet no-one has ever asked me that). But this just screams "sexual fetish" in 6 foot high neon letters.

My gawd, that twitter feed. My eyes, my eyes. (Fantasies about knee-capping someone for not buying into the 57 varieties of sparkle-gender shite? FFS, these people are seriously messed up.)

QuentinWinters · 26/11/2018 10:42

My dd asked me what furries were this weekend. She is 13 and spends time on tiktok (formerly music.ly). Apparently there are lots of furries on there. I told her to be careful of them. Was glad for this thread.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/11/2018 10:45

How did you explain what a furry is?

FFSFFSFFS · 26/11/2018 10:53

I doubt I really want to know....but what is a "furry"??

FFSFFSFFS · 26/11/2018 10:53

(I don't want to google it in case i get images and content I don't want in my mind...)

AngryAttackKittens · 26/11/2018 10:57

(Trust me, you will! Definitely don't look up "yiffing".)

Bittermints · 26/11/2018 11:22

Someone who likes dressing up in an animal costume. I have no knowledge of this community at all outside what I've read on here. Is it invariably sexual?

wrenika · 26/11/2018 12:36

God save us from MN. Anime always leans on the cutesy/young vibe...and what you're thinking of is not anime, it's hentai. If you're into it, fair play. I don't think anyone should be making judgements about that. It's lines on a page...not real.
Furries are a whole different kettle of fish. Weird, yes. Mostly harmless, yes. My DP has a gay mate who is into the whole furry thing and does that matter any to us. Nope. He's a good guy so what him and his partner enjoy is none of our business.

Anime is not niche. Many teens are into it. It is invariably cutesy, kawaii, blah blah. It's fine. Get over yourselves. It's not only cutesy young girls, btw. Just look at the manga/anime 'Black Butler'. The main character is a young teen and he is often depicted in heels, short dresses, cross dressing and with no small amount of minorly sexualised moments...infamously the corsetting scene. The author of this manga is a woman. It's very popular. It has very strong yaoi undertones. But it's great. You can buy 'adult' manga/anime in perfectly normal high street book shops/comic shops. The manga will be sealed in plastic to save young eyes opening them and getting an eyeful.
Stop trying to police everything you don't understand. This is an entirely different culture, and if you want to go on at the Japanese culture then that's a whole different thing, but at least educate yourselves beyond a few twitter posts.

QuentinWinters · 26/11/2018 14:44

How did you explain what a furry is? i told her some people like dressing up as animals, sometimes its harmless but for some people it was a sex thing. And that I was a bit worried that on something like Tiktok, paedophiles could call themselves furry to seem harmless as they were just dressing up.
I told her to treat those people with caution and always trust her gut instinct - that if furries were making her feel uncomfortable she should listen to that feeling and stay away.
