A moment of pause to venerate Janice Turner
OP posts:

My period is coming on. If all we are now is our periods, shall I start talking to men about it? Been protecting their sensitive ears thus far.

Now100 · 25/10/2018 16:56

I love the way they are begging for money after each article. At some point I might email them to say that I'll give them some once they start respecting women. Suspect they don't want my evil terf money anyway.

rightreckoner · 25/10/2018 17:04

I don’t buy the Guardian anymore. I buy the Times because of Janice and the generally higher quality of the writing.

I did buy a copy of the Spectator the other day but was relieved to find that James Delingpole continues to be a knob so the world is still turning on it’s axis.

TheClitterati · 25/10/2018 17:10

What has the Guardian done to itself? It's no longer fit for purpose as a newspaper.

genderrefusenik · 25/10/2018 17:13

Sod it, I have just subscribed to The Times on the strength of Janice's articles and other decent coverage on this issue in the paper

2rebecca · 25/10/2018 17:21

Another one who got a Times sub because of Janet. I heard this morning that JHB's breakfast talk radio programme has gained 17% new listeners. I'm one due to her non woke interview style. No special soft voice for transwomen from her. All will be interrogated and subdued!

3TresTrois · 25/10/2018 17:21

Janice is brilliant.

I went off the Guardian a couple of years ago as it was consistently setting my Woke-dar off with massive bleeping.

I will be buying myself a subscription to the Times in the new year because of JT.

2rebecca · 25/10/2018 17:22

Janice not Janet. No idea where Janet came from

FlaviaAlbia · 25/10/2018 17:26

"I wonder how many women have taken out subscriptions to the Times because of Janice's journalism? Now that would be an interesting stat for the things MNers buy thread."

Me too. Janice is brilliant.

ProfessoressWoland · 25/10/2018 17:54

Thank you, Janice, I'm another one who has moved my subscription from the Guardian to the Times, and I told them why in the cancellation feedback form.

2BorNot2Bvocal · 25/10/2018 18:09

Big fan of Janice Flowers

Deeply annoying is that the Guardian journalist is a woman. She chose to use 'menstruators'. Fool.

nottakingthisanymore · 25/10/2018 18:14

The responses to the tweet are quite baffling. Apparently to say women would be offensive to post menopausal women. Really? How is it different to a question like ‘women were asked about post natal care’ this excludes those who haven’t had a baby but it’s not offensive. People who are offended need to get a grip.

IdaBWells · 25/10/2018 18:21

Does the Guardian understand why Posie put up her posters and why we supported her with our HARD EARNED CASH now?

Bunch of wankers, I absolutely detest them.

rightreckoner · 25/10/2018 18:21

No women are offended. It’s men who want to be women who are offended at the use of the word woman to describe women. It’s Trans Exclusionary .....

IdaBWells · 25/10/2018 18:23

And I already took out my subscription to The Times months ago because of Janice and the fact that this newspaper would be willing to publish and support her!

Theweasleytwins · 25/10/2018 18:34

Funny lady😊👏

Not every woman menstruates

ErrolTheDragon · 25/10/2018 18:46

Apparently to say women would be offensive to post menopausal women. Really?

Bollocks. Hm, are they allowed to say 'post menopausal women'? Maybe nonfemale 'women' who will never go through the menopause are happy for that particular group to not be 'inclusive'.

Velella · 25/10/2018 19:19

I've ceased buying the guardian after some twenty years and now have a subscription to the Times.

LaPufalina · 25/10/2018 19:26

I've kept my Times subscription on mat leave despite making other financial cuts, because of Janice.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 25/10/2018 19:28

Janice is magnificent. I loved hearing her voice recently on the radio, speaking sense as always.

AspieAndProud · 25/10/2018 19:32

Andrex have just put out a poll to see whether shitters really prefer puppies to toilet roll.

OrchidInTheSun · 25/10/2018 19:33

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Janice 😍😻🤩

AspieAndProud · 25/10/2018 19:38

I’m going to email them a response to their e-begging.

Dear Guardian

I would like to donate £5 per week so you do not have to sell your organs to keep the paper running. However, I will be deducting 10p for every stupid article you publish. This week you already owe me £40.

Haworthia · 25/10/2018 19:42

Of course it isn’t offensive to women who no longer menstruate, for whatever reason. It just isn’t. This idea that all language has to be completely inclusive at all times, otherwise it’s “problematic” or “triggering” is just fucking garbage. How did we get here?

I’m with Gulags. Sometimes it feels hopeless. And amongst all this I feel like my educated female friends would disown me if I dared to go public with any of this.

HermioneWeasley · 25/10/2018 19:55

Love Janice! Her bravery and journalism have been pivotal in public awareness of the issues
