The Greenhouse in Detford had this sticker sign up.
Given the tiny number of trans people who must come through their doors compared to the large number of women, and that the likelihood of any of those women “intimidating” transpeople is pretty much nil, then wtf is this about ? I’m finding this banning of women who hold different opinions deeply sinister.

My feminism does include all women, it just doesn't include men.

Juells · 21/10/2018 20:20

I've seen lots of photos of similar notices, on twitter. Lots of businesses jumping on the bandwagon. They obviously think Terfs are some weird shadowy figures who would never actually be using their businesses, so they're not risking losing money. It seems to be very prevalent in Canada.

smeerf · 21/10/2018 20:20

This is local to me and doesn't surprise me at all. It's also very close to Goldsmiths Uni (woke central) so I'm sure that's who they're trying to appeal to.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/10/2018 20:23

Never mind holding different opinions, if you are a lesbian who is only attracted to women (an actual lesbian, in other words) you count as a terf, so these signs are openly homophobic.

xxyzz · 21/10/2018 20:24

"If your café doesn't include ALL women, IT'S MISOGYNY.

Women not going there. Not if you paid us."

Allstarspookster · 21/10/2018 20:25

Shame its not in my town so that I can avoid it. Given that I have been striding around my town in my Adult Human Female T-shirt on full display, I think they would drive me out of Detford with pitchforks Grin

Soubriquet · 21/10/2018 20:26

Well it will be their own fault if they go out of business now won’t it?

Popchyk · 21/10/2018 20:26

There was a thread here about the self-defining café.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/10/2018 20:29

Oh I must have missed that other thread. I’ve just seen it as I follow Jean on twitter.
Their disingenuous reply was even more annoying than the notice.

If I was running a business like a cafe, I think I’d be trying to welcome the real women who comprise over 50% of my customers, not virtue signalling for “woke” brownie points to the less than 0.5% of the population who might be gender dysphoric.
Hope they get boycotted by all the women who are angry at being silenced while our rights to safety and privacy are being thrown under the bus.

xxyzz · 21/10/2018 20:31

How can they have the nerve to object to people who don't include ALL women, and in the very next breath say that they're not going to include ALL women?!

Do "TERFS" cease to be female in their eyes in some way? Does the holding of views that some misogynists object to render women actually sexless in their eyes? Are only 'nice' girls, who say and do exactly what men tell them allowed to be female now?! Hmm

Oh FFS.

It takes us a stage beyond self-ID, doesn't it. It takes us into the realm of 'male-determined-ID'. Basically, whatever a man says anyone is, that's what they are. Hmm Hmm Hmm

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/10/2018 20:33

What was their disingenuous reply?

PositivelyPERF · 21/10/2018 20:40

I would so wear a tee shirt like this, into their cafe. It would confuse the fuck out off the woke wankers. What’s the betting they’d think it was transphobic? I could then point out to them that some men have ovaries and they’re a bunch of transphobes! I’d really do all the throwing the toys out of the park, crying, snot, the works. They’d shit themselves! 🤣

PositivelyPERF · 21/10/2018 20:42

Oops this tee shirt BlushGrin

Happy to boycott any business that doesn't respect the rights of natal women.

hackmum · 21/10/2018 21:11

So, they’ll accept racists, homophobes, misogynists...but not radical feminists. Nice.

Popchyk · 21/10/2018 21:18

But fine to be intimidating to Terfs ( with the TERFs not welcome here notice).

Okay.

Juells · 21/10/2018 21:21

Well, they rowed back pretty quickly. Think they've had a bit of a shock at the pasting they've had on twitter. So dreadful when you think you'll get brownie points for being woke, and instead you're given your tea in a mug.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/10/2018 21:22

Their defensive tweet reads to me like they're a bit scared at the idea that the police might get involved.
We must stand up to this shit. Boycotting isn't going to be a clear enough message.

TwistedStitch · 21/10/2018 21:22

The responses to this tweet are great.

X post Juells.

scepticalwoman · 21/10/2018 21:24

If I recall rightly, the last thread was also worried about their hygiene rating - given the state of the kitchen! Very mumsnet.Grin

TwistedStitch · 21/10/2018 21:24

Sorry, meant to post screenshot. I want to know how they are defining 'trans exclusionary'.
