Is Ash Sarkar the stupidest person alive?

Bar Corbyn that is.
She has literally gone on twitter and posted a search she claims as proof that Julie bindel doesn’t care about women in prison.
Julie fucking bindel. Who founded justice for women. Who I’ve been aware of for what, 30 years? Since I developed feminist awareness, as someone involved in fighting for the rights of women in the CJS.
I mean, I know ash was almost literally born yesterday, but I wasn’t that stupid at her age

If it's not on Twitter it didn't happen? Ah, bless.

Igneococcus · 20/10/2018 07:44

The Times did a portrait/interview with her a few months ago. Why does she get all this attention?

Haha was just coming to start a thread about this! Burn! I mean honestly, what possessed her? Literally one google is all it'd have taken.

She was quite good with Piers Morgan though. It's important to see the sort of lazy thinking that assumes anti-Trump means pro-Obama challenged. Especially in a British context, where there's really quite a lot of room to be left of Obama and still be moderate. Piers is another one who ought to have spent a couple of minutes googling.

hackmum · 20/10/2018 07:50

I hope Bindel sues. She probably won’t, but it is time people like Sarkar and Harrop were taught that telling lies about people has consequences.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 20/10/2018 07:52

Nowadays, in the internet, people don’t care much for facts.

It’s disinformation. They send out so much false information so that it’s hard to distinguish fact from fiction, they don’t necessarily need you to believe what they are saying they just need to restrict access and divert interest from the facts.

I think it’s ensuring that most people stay apathetic to political issues. Politicals is already a minefield of bullshit but it’s just gotten worse.

Whatever her opinion is on any issue, I don’t know how Ash sleeps a night contributing to this tactic.

Igneococcus · 20/10/2018 08:00

Could someone link to the twitter thread please. I still can't find my around twitter.

It's quite a read.

I don't know that I'd want Julie to sue though. It would probably yield a grovelling apology, so there's that, but I think she's probably getting optimum publicity from how absolutely hilarious it is. Maybe it has the most impact when it stays as something funny?

Igneococcus · 20/10/2018 08:07

Thanks twisted and grab

Lottapianos · 20/10/2018 08:58

I can't quite believe she hasn't retracted that tweet or made any attempt to apologise. What on earth is she thinking of?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/10/2018 09:05

I expect she realises that the young and woke will believe her over Bindel.

Her and her ilk seem to make their own facts and live in an exhibition chamber where they all just share and like these made up facts.

OvaHere · 20/10/2018 09:08

Post truth I think is the term. There seems to be a lot of it about in 2018.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/10/2018 09:15

Ash 'luxury communism' 'fucks like a champion' Sarkar is one of the stupidest people on twitter.

BumbrainusMaximus · 20/10/2018 09:40

Exhibition chamber is not that far wide of the mark ... exhibitionism seems to be a problem for this ridiculous little person and others of her kind.
David challen has been on to tell her about how Julie is helping his mum. Ignored naturally. But I just have to say it all reminds me how marvellous Julie is and how lucky we are to have her. She has been fighting this fight since I was a nipper and she won’t stop til she’s cold in the ground. Fucking amazing woman.

The idiot who was congratulated for saying she was a ‘literal communist’? What a fool.

I’m a foreigner to uk and even I know about Julie Bindels work. Ffs. But I did not know the personal story of Emma Humfreys, or that she died just 3 years after being finally freed with Julie’s help. So having a little cry after watching this, how utterly tragic.

AngryAttackKittens · 20/10/2018 09:46

I don't think Ash is stupid, I think Ash is dishonest.

BumbrainusMaximus · 20/10/2018 09:49

perhaps you’re right. Perhaps she understands that it doesn’t matter that her lie can be spotted in less than a second, because those who think like her don’t care that it is a lie. They want and need it to be true, and feelings, not facts, are what counts for them.
But if that isn’t the very definition of stupidity I don’t know what is.

deepwatersolo · 20/10/2018 10:02

I guess, once you are ready to repeat, embrace and promote phrases whose content you cannot understand because you can‘t even say what the words in it mean, anything becomes possible and you go full Karl Rove ‚‘we create our own reality‘ and stuff.
Why Ash believes a Tweet might succeed where carpet bombing failed, I do not know.

hackmum · 20/10/2018 11:04

I agree. Julie used to write a lot for the Guardian and I've sometimes had issues with the stuff she's written. She can be pretty blunt and to the point about some stuff - can't stand vegetarians, can't stand children and so on. She sometimes does a pretty good job of alienating the very people who should be her natural allies.

But you know what? Stuff it. She has worked absolutely tirelessly for the rights of women and girls for well over 30 years. She's taken on the most unfashionable causes (domestic violence, women imprisoned for killing their partners, young girls coerced into prostitution) and fought as hard as she possibly could for them. And she's done that despite being vilified, abused and libelled by people who claim to be progressive but are actually deep-dyed misogynists. I don't know how she has kept on going, but she has. She's a bloody hero and we're damn lucky to have her.

AnyFucker · 20/10/2018 11:07

Damn right, hackmum

The likes of Ash Sarker are what the words "silly little handmaiden" were invented for

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 20/10/2018 11:08

Well said Hackmum.

Floisme · 20/10/2018 11:17

I agree we're very lucky to have Julie Bindel and it's great that one person's stupidity gives us reason to celebrate her. I remember her writing regularly for the Guardian before she stuck her neck out about trans issues - which she saw coming long before most of us did. I'm sure she could have had a very comfortable career churning out puff pieces if she'd chosen to. I think people with her integrity and clear thinking are bloody rare and if the price is putting up with the odd rude comment about children then it's one I'm very happy to pay. (I'm sure our kids can cope.)
