I clicked on the Twitter link, that Joss person is a perfect example of a selfie passing but the person doesn't. Joss has a series of videos out, I clicked on one and watched a few seconds to establish it was the same person.
A selfie shrunk into a tiny avatar passes and people respond to that. Whereas in real life the person is never going to pass.
Also the trans bathroom thing - we've already established some people get confused and think a trans woman is a woman who's transitioning to be male and a trans man is a man transitioning to be female. Obviously that's not everyone but there will be enough people confused about the designations to influence the vote.
The wording on the Times poll is clearer. The issue isn't if some people are happy with some trans women (for argument's sake I'll still to TW) in women's spaces especially if those people know or are envisaging HSTS TW who are either stealth or "fabulous".
For any lurkers - it has to be ALL women happy with ALL trans women, and as the latter contains occasional cross dressers and a high proportion of AGP fetishists (NATWALT etc etc) and people who will never ever pass as female and go unnoticed, the former will never be happy with the change. The former don't have any responsibility to the latter. The status quo is effective. Women will have to be forced into accepting this because it won't happen naturally.
Mind you, I don't suppose the TRAs care much about whether women feel coerced into playing along with their public fetishes (NATWALT etc) so long as we move over and give them room.
