'Wouldn't a retraction be effectively a second free advert?'

Lol yes.
It's like Posie's billboard - we win either way.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/10/2018 20:04

I'm actually beginning to wonder if Harrop is a bit of a sleeper, buried deep in a TRA cell. Harrop is beginning to stretch my credulity a little - I'm beginning to believe that they can't possibly be real and are actually a very clever radfem plant.

The Metro apologies for allowing an advert which said that women don't have penises...

IKeepFlouncing · 10/10/2018 20:05

Very proud to be out wearing my FairPlayForWomen tshirt today out with my DS.

I gave my time to all chuggers today and kindly swapped leaflets and information.

Very positive experience though as not one knew about upcoming self Id so glad to be informed.

Its bad isn’t it, had I not been on MN I would also be none wiser. Not like live on Mars either

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 10/10/2018 20:08

The billboard was hilarious, if left everyone would have ignored it and that would have been that, but it made every news channel and paper because it was taken down.

Janie143 · 10/10/2018 20:10

**
It amuses me that trans activists don't think women could raise thousands of quid for an ad without help from suspicious right wing organisations - as though the only way women can raise cash is by selling cookies and crocheting dishcloths. Yes women doing it for themselves, just like we did setting up women's refuges

arranfan · 10/10/2018 20:15

This is like the billboard - it pretty much doesn't matter where it is, nor how relatively little you paid for it if it's going to be mentioned all over social media.

There are dangers to this, of course, if this far right, extremist hate group narrative is as tenacious and unchecked as it seems to be.

arranfan · 10/10/2018 20:17

I've wondered for some time if i) AH is a 5th columnist; ii) he really does need as much of a stern talking-too by his responsible officer as it seems that he does...

FlowersAndHerts · 10/10/2018 20:21

Well, I've just made a donation. If it costs as much as Harrop says, then I really want to help. I'm proud to have paid for a few pixels.

DereksSexyPyjamas · 10/10/2018 20:25

Or a performance artist? His particular brand of incomprehensible nonsense would be a shoe-in for the Turner Prize.

KatVonGulag · 10/10/2018 20:26

Ha, love that tweet from Jonny

Dear TRA
I know I should be in the kitchen, but somehow I got a job.... that's an amazing thing which helps me donate to causes that matter to me.
Thanks x

I don't think the metro will make a retraction, they've already told pink news that they consulted carefully with FPFW before agreeing to the ad.

www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/10/10/metro-newspaper-full-page-ad-attacking-transgender-reforms/

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 10/10/2018 20:31

Pink news is so one sided and biased

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/10/2018 20:37

Goodness that P*nkNews article is a load of testerical guff. I don't believe for a second that the person called "Kate" that they apparently quoted is real.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 10/10/2018 20:37

They do seem to bit a bit worried though, I suspect they hoped everything would go nicely under the radar and they'd silence Twitter or the odd emails.

But people fighting back doesn't seem to have been planned on, as they've made some dreadful decisions trying to silence anything bringing public attention to what's happening.

There is a Katie twitter profile who may may well have made such a statement. Very prolific poster.

Its a popular name though so may be wrong!

seahorsesaewhorses · 10/10/2018 20:52

Rowentrees your not wrong it was that poster. I thought it was in the London edition and that person is in wales though

NicePieceOfPlaid · 10/10/2018 20:53

Another donation heading their way.

pombear · 10/10/2018 20:54

Amazing! These things need to be said. They're not transphobic, they're highlighting issues of concern to women around privacy, dignity and safety.

From Pink News - the ad's been referred to the ASA
For this?!
The ad questions whether “someone with a penis is a woman” and refers to transgender women as “male-bodied people.

Good luck with challenging reality in advertising standards. If this is upheld, it'll be an interesting world ahead in ASA complaints.

Hamster00 · 10/10/2018 20:58

It's a great advert. FPFW have pulled a blinder, as it's got the TRAs going into meltdown and bursting blood vessels right, left and centre.

As one of those pesky, truscum, traitorous, transsexual men types I don't find it offensive in the least. It's absolutely brilliant Grin

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 10/10/2018 21:00

god that pink news article is hilarious

MagicMix · 10/10/2018 21:13

Someone shared this on my FB with all the same old shit: anti-trans hate group, creating fear, factually consistent and inaccurate (how???). With the main point being about how dubious it is that women would spend money on an advertisement trying to defend their rights when if they cared about anyone they would give the money to a rape crisis centre (like we can't have more than one cause on the go at once). Cue angry emojis and comments about how T*s can go fuck themselves.

Sometimes I wonder if we are all living on the same planet. Have they even read the ad or the website? Actually stupid question, I am 100% sure they have not.

MagicMix · 10/10/2018 21:14

factually inconsistent, that should say.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 10/10/2018 21:15

They don't need to, pinknews regurgitats it all down quite nicely.

LaPufalina · 10/10/2018 21:23

FPFW have a tenner off me for that ad. I can't give much more as on mat leave but I had to say thanks!
