Oh I'll find it thanks @DereksSexyPyjamas

I may even set up a direct debit!

JoanSummers · 10/10/2018 18:28

Sorry surfnturf, that tag is foul indeed.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/10/2018 18:29

I'm sure lots of people will report it to the ASA, which means precisely nothing in itself. It's up to the ASA to make a ruling, which is when I would care about this.

hackmum · 10/10/2018 18:31

Does Harrop really imagine an ad like that would cost £45k? Does he really think FPFW are funded by Christian fundamentalists, or does he just enjoy lying? I never know whether he’s malevolent, thick, or both.

SurfnTerfFantasticmissfoxy · 10/10/2018 18:39

Hackmum I suspect a large dose of both along with a great big dollop of narcissism

littlbrowndog · 10/10/2018 18:42

He just hates that women got an ad

Haha 😂💪🔥🔥🔥

fufulina · 10/10/2018 18:53

Have chosen to #fundreality.
Excellent work FPFW.

HandsOffMyRights · 10/10/2018 18:53

It's not in my Metro (Bham). There's a massive feature on Butterfly though and an ad for ITV.

Don't see anyone piling on that one. Not expecting apologies either. But we don't pressure with fear.

FPFW full page ad in the Metro!
Bowlofbabelfish · 10/10/2018 18:58

Apparently they've taken over the hashtag

My god. And our grandparents took bridges during operation Market Garden or defended Stalingrad. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Well done. Taking over that hashtag. Truly epic - were many lives lost? Have a wee think about what tweeting about women having penises under #choosereality will do to the average reader, eh?

Elephantinacravat · 10/10/2018 19:04

Yes I saw a tweet from ASA earlier that said they had had complaints and would be looking into it.

oooompa · 10/10/2018 19:08

Even if Metro do issue an apology (and I strongly suspect they will) it doesn't matter, people have seen it. Sane, rational people. Hopefully this will influence them to fill in the consultation!

FekkoTheLawyer · 10/10/2018 19:19

I do t think they will - I've been reading the biog of the editor and he didn't seem the type to bend over for the rainbow mafia.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 10/10/2018 19:20

Yep, it's out there now.

oooompa · 10/10/2018 19:31

I bloody hope not, we need common sense to prevail!

ChattyLion · 10/10/2018 19:34

FANTASTIC!!!! GlitterballGlitterballGlitterballGlitterballGlitterballGin
FPFW you are absolutely brilliant.
So happy to see this ad clearly and calmly telling the truth.
Whoever’s doing FPFW strategising Star Flowers

TheChampagneGalop · 10/10/2018 19:38

Yes this is brilliant. Well done sisters Star

Gentlygently · 10/10/2018 19:39

Do the ASA rule on political stuff? I thought that was one of the problems that Brexit threw up? The £350m couldn’t be challenged through the ASA?

Velella · 10/10/2018 19:42

The Advertising standards Authority said "Ads may contain opinions, views or ideologies that may be distasteful to some without necessarily breaking the rules.”

Or facts, presumably.

sorenipples · 10/10/2018 19:43

Wouldn't a retraction be effectively a second free advert?

HandsOffMyRights · 10/10/2018 19:49

Good point Sore

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 10/10/2018 19:49

gently I think it's more that political campaigning is not part of their remit. That's what they said when they wrote back to me after I complained about one of the infamous Brexit adverts. It was a blatant lie and they were powerless to stop it. It will be interesting to see what they have to say about the Metro ad.

TheChampagneGalop · 10/10/2018 19:49

TRA reactions on twitter are pretty funny when you are aware of autogynephilia and how people with narcissist personality disorder react when unhappy about something. Don't you know that women being concerned about safety regarding self-ID and men in our spaces means that many trans people will commit suicide and also some can't even afford a newpaper?! So dramatic.
I wish everyone would wise up and not fall for their tactics.

LemonSqueezy0 · 10/10/2018 19:50

Grin just made a donation... Very much behind this 👌🏽

kesstrel · 10/10/2018 19:55

I love this tweet from Jonny Best:

It amuses me that trans activists don't think women could raise thousands of quid for an ad without help from suspicious right wing organisations - as though the only way women can raise cash is by selling cookies and crocheting dishcloths.

DereksSexyPyjamas · 10/10/2018 19:59

Seen it in the flesh now and it’s amazing. 👍 it is near the back of the paper though, but no doubt the furore the TRAs are kicking up will guarantee more people are made aware of it. Harrop just doesn’t learn, does he?
