In fact even better than that, Woman's Place UK and Transgender Trend will be going too.

I (Nicola Williams) will be one of the three women attending in order to answer MP’s questions about how proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act will affect women’s rights.

Womans Place UK and Fair Play For Women have both requested to meet with Penny Mordaunt, Minister for Women and Equalities, to represent the concerns and questions of the thousands of women who support us, but have not been granted a meeting.

So, we are taking the meeting to the House of Commons to give Penny Mordaunt, and all MPs, the opportunity to meet us, ask questions and hear our views. All they need to do is drop in and meet us. This is the opportunity for MPs to hear the voices of women concerned by these changes and to increase their knowledge about this subject in a calm, confidential environment.

Every MP has received a formal invitation for this meeting but we need YOU to make sure they come. Please email your constituency MP telling them that you support us and ask them to confirm to you that they will attend this meeting.

You can find your MPs details here www.writetothem.com/
Email them this weekend before their diaries get filled. The meeting is just 10 days from now.

Meeting: How will changes to the Gender Recognition Act affect women’s rights? Tuesday 16th October 2018 at 10:30am until 12:30pm in Room S, House of Commons

I'd done the same as you Ineed but I got an email back, asking me to add a phone number and resend (which I have).

Labradoodliedoodoo · 07/10/2018 17:53

Was dissapointed with my Labour MP response. Response fully reflected the Labour Party line.

AbsintheFriends · 07/10/2018 20:09

Just done my email to my ('TWAW you big meanie') youngish female Labour MP. Would be very surprised indeed if she goes to the meeting, but I'd love to know!

Thanks Dr Nic.

AbsintheFriends · 07/10/2018 20:10

Thanks also to pps for the tip about address and telephone number - I skimmed this thread just in time and added these before sending

MrsFogi · 07/10/2018 21:58

MelonBuffet · 07/10/2018 22:44

I emailed my MP Mark Lancaster (Con) a while back and got a bit of a fobbing off in reply.

Have just emailed with details of this meeting, thank you.

Done. Emailed mine. He also holds ‘advice surgeries’ every Friday and no appointment is required. Do you think I could go along to discuss this, or would I be better getting an appointment?

Elephantinacravat · 08/10/2018 08:04

I have just emailed my MP. And the other other day I emailed Glamour mag about calling on Helen Webberley as an expert. I feel like quite the activist! Next up, filling out the consultation......

FlippinFumin · 08/10/2018 08:16

Emailed Rosie Winterton, I asked her nicely to go and listen and ask questions.

Catmint · 08/10/2018 08:26

Emailed mine. Maggie Throup. I have low expectations, but have tried.

LatinForTelly · 08/10/2018 10:51

Emailed mine [redacted] and will send a paper copy.

Redkeyboard · 08/10/2018 10:59

gently I would def go to the drop in.

hipsterfun · 08/10/2018 11:23

Should we be following up with a phone call?

I didn’t get the usual auto-reply from my MP when I emailed (though they may be generated in response to the petition-type emails she usually receives from me - anyone know how MPs manage their inboxes?).

Not in the UK so haven't an MP to email, but if I had I'd be including links to all the recent mainstream articles about shutting down of discussion. And I'd add something about it being noted if they don't attend a meeting about women's concerns.

ThelmaRB · 08/10/2018 11:54

Just emailed mine, Anne Main. No idea whether she’ll email back. Have decided to post my letter on my Facebook page and link to the consultation as well. My letter frames everything from the aspect of women’s sex based protections so I hope people will read before shouting “bigot” etc.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 08/10/2018 12:12

Tweeted to my mp luke pollard and Gary streeter

Queenofthedrivensnow · 08/10/2018 12:13

horizonglimmer · 08/10/2018 12:32

Done.

oneWeirdReSister · 08/10/2018 12:35

My MP is "busy" that day.

GulagsMyArse · 08/10/2018 13:04

Just written, Labour so Im not holding out hope.

scalliondays · 08/10/2018 13:17

Have written to my MP (SNP - thinks I'm a bigot) - we'll see...

Juells · 08/10/2018 13:19

Have written to my MP (SNP - thinks I'm a bigot)

That worked out really well for Gordon Brown, didn't it?

Juells · 08/10/2018 13:23

You could have some fun with it if you didn't mind being 'out' on FB -
"My MP thinks I'm a bigot because I think male rapists shouldn't be locked in with female prisoners"
"My MP thinks I'm a bigot because I think women don't have penises"
"My MP thinks I'm a bigot because I don't think schools should be encouraging children to embrace their trans feelings"
