In fact even better than that, Woman's Place UK and Transgender Trend will be going too.

I (Nicola Williams) will be one of the three women attending in order to answer MP’s questions about how proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act will affect women’s rights.

Womans Place UK and Fair Play For Women have both requested to meet with Penny Mordaunt, Minister for Women and Equalities, to represent the concerns and questions of the thousands of women who support us, but have not been granted a meeting.

So, we are taking the meeting to the House of Commons to give Penny Mordaunt, and all MPs, the opportunity to meet us, ask questions and hear our views. All they need to do is drop in and meet us. This is the opportunity for MPs to hear the voices of women concerned by these changes and to increase their knowledge about this subject in a calm, confidential environment.

Every MP has received a formal invitation for this meeting but we need YOU to make sure they come. Please email your constituency MP telling them that you support us and ask them to confirm to you that they will attend this meeting.

You can find your MPs details here www.writetothem.com/
Email them this weekend before their diaries get filled. The meeting is just 10 days from now.

Meeting: How will changes to the Gender Recognition Act affect women’s rights? Tuesday 16th October 2018 at 10:30am until 12:30pm in Room S, House of Commons

Helped a friend to send a short but hard-hitting email to a Labour MP in an adjoining constituency to mine.

If it hadn't been for all-woman shortlists, it's probable that this MP wouldn't be an MP today.

My friend mentioned Pip Bunce, the cross dresser in the 100 top business women awards, as an example of how self I/d will sabotage shortlists and lead to less participation by women in politics, sport and other areas of public life.

Awaiting confirmation of her attendance.

oooompa · 08/10/2018 13:33

Sorry to ask but does anyone have a template email they could send me? I'm not very eloquent and struggle to put down into words what I'm saying (probably a good thing because what I say includes the words "fucking crazy" and that's not very professional Grin)

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/10/2018 13:40

Mine are a bit rambly, probably not the best but...

Dear XX,

I have written to you a couple of times on this issue now and have had generic replies from XX XX. I do not know where you stand on the issue, whether you think that trans women are women, that humans can actually change sex, but I am hoping that you will be interested enough to attend a meeting to hear the views and fears of real women.

Sadly Penny Mordaunt has refused to meet with any of these women, her support of Stonewall’s position and the transactivist stance is more and more apparent. Every time she says that women should ‘be nice, be kind’ she is telling women to be quiet and to allow life changing laws to be passed without demur.

I would like, again, to raise the question of Ms Maudant's personal politics contradicting her public position. The sight of the Minister for Women at a Stonewall reception is a worrying one for many women. Not for any reasons of 'transphobia' but because, yet again, she seems to be pre-empting the outcome of current government consultation, she is certainly forgetting who she is supposed to represent!

I would again ask you to stand up and be counted: counted as seeing the danger in accepting Self ID as an open doorway for other men like Karen White, Jacinta Brooks, David Challenor and an ever growing list of others doing lots of those things that supposedly would never happen if/when Self ID becomes law.

I would also hope that he would NOT agree with Leeds City Councils recently decision to ban a women's group from using council rooms to discuss the consultation and would openly decry the ludicrous non reasons given for it. Again women were silenced by aggressive men... why?

Sorry, I would like to have written much more coherently, but this has been a week of some great disappointments. Women are being done a great disservice by those who will not stand up and shine a light on the strange trans activist behaviours.

PLEASE, at the very least, listen to the voices of concerned women. You might find that they are not as aggressive, angry or fearmongering as transactiivst voices hold.

See how polite I was... PLEASE... a gentler, kinder politics, that's me Smile

Needmoresleep · 08/10/2018 13:43

I have just finished my email to my MP. It was going to be short, but I found I had a lot to say. I was polite though, not least because mine is one of those independent minded MPs who might just be persuaded to stick her head above the parapet.

Fingers crossed....

AbsintheFriends · 08/10/2018 13:44

I've PMd you oooompa!

Candidpeel · 08/10/2018 13:53

I've emailed my MP. The previous representative (male) was definitely GC but the present incumbent (female) has blanked any other communication I've sent on this matter, so will wait and see.

VoleClock · 08/10/2018 16:59

Just written to Jezza - not holding out much hope!

Charley50 · 08/10/2018 17:14

Just saw this. I'll email tonight. Really shocked that the minister for Women and Equalities won't meet you! How embarrassing for her.

HandsOffMyRights · 08/10/2018 17:32

Excellent - my friend is writing to her MP (drum roll) Jess Phillips!

Manderleyagain · 08/10/2018 18:18

Done
Please could you come back here to tell us how the meeting went and how many MPs showed up. Good luck!

FekkoTheLawyer · 08/10/2018 18:19

I emailed my MP - female, labour. She has a record of standing up for refugees so who knows? Maybe she has a conscience.

NaturalBornWoman · 08/10/2018 18:21

I've emailed my MP today and filled in the consultation. Will now continue to try to influence others to do the same.

MorbidMuch · 08/10/2018 19:57

Done!

LoafEater · 08/10/2018 21:02

My MP is the eternally embarrassing Boris Johnson. He will be far too sure but I’ll email him anyway sigh

LoafEater · 08/10/2018 21:06

*busy I’m

Charley50 · 08/10/2018 21:09

I've just emailed my MP. It got quite long but I don't think it was ranty. There are just so many implications that need to be mentioned.

DereksSexyPyjamas · 08/10/2018 21:12

I dunno, if Boris is thinking about starting a new party... if you do email him it could be worth mentioning there are a lot of potential voters with no one to vote for at the moment.
