In refuse to click on the guardian. I will wait until the times or mail summarise whatever shite they just published.

hackmum · 03/10/2018 07:41

"The common assertion that gender non-conforming people who use bathrooms present a threat to the personal safety of cisgender people is rubbish."

How can you argue with top-notch reasoning like that?

FlippinFumin · 03/10/2018 07:45

Cisgender? What the fuck is that even? So we women want to maintain gender roles? Does the writer even know what is happening? Fuck right off. That is as far as I got, blood pressure just cannot take anymore shite.

ShotsFired · 03/10/2018 07:45

You know if you eat super-super-sweet baklava, you can feel your teeth rotting from the inside?

This article is like that, but for woke.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 03/10/2018 07:47

Ah.
That was long.
Simona is apparently 'visibly transfeminine'

'Signing bathrooms by the amenity they provide – rather than the gender they are deemed to be used by – is one great leap towards removing the gender binary from public spaces.'

Surely if a person is taking on a feminine role they will understand that masculine sorts often use stalls for interminable greasy meat-shites whereas dainty ladies tend to have a quick wee or empty a moon cup etc.

I do not see this solution working.

SmellyHead · 03/10/2018 07:48

At least if this happens men will see how uncomfortable it is to sit on a loo with a sanibin jammed next to it. They might start designing loos better.

Do all these people who want to open up the ladies toilets to all comers realise that a lot of men use public and works toilets to go for a wank? And that's in the gents, never mind what they plan to do in the ladies.
I was unaware of this until time spent online dating. Unfortunately, some of the pictures I've been sent have enlightened me.

Badstyley · 03/10/2018 08:00

Or they’ll just take the san bins out, that’s what they normally do in that situation. I refer you to those portaloos you get at festivals and events. Most men aren’t interesting in sanitary bins, not needing them like. What they don’t want or need tends to be forgotten about pretty quickly.

GoldenWonderwall · 03/10/2018 08:00

“The public restroom is not only a place to empty one’s bladder or bowel, change a tampon or clothes, wash hands or reapply lippy; it’s an arbiter of gender, with its mostly cisnormative inhabitants to police it.”

I believe this says that what public toilet you choose to use is deciding what gender you are and this is then policed by the people inside that toilet? Wtf. I’ve been in the men’s and it’s hardly an oasis of amazing, it’s usually a puddle of piss with a skidmarked lavvy, but I didn’t turn into a man when I stepped through the door.

Also the disabled person is last on the sign that pisses me off. If this was about inclusivity the person with the greatest needs would be placed first, but it’s a man first so you know, working real hard there to break down gender norms aren’t we.

I couldn't bring myself to read any further.

Badstyley · 03/10/2018 08:04

Who goes in there for a rest? Do they think we have sofas and a coffee machine in there or something? I think some males think that womens’ toilets are some sort of social club or something, they just can’t stand the thought that they are being excluded. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been asked by a man, ‘what do you ladies do in there?’ Erm... go to the toilet...

Ugh. You really don't want to go there this early in the day. What some men like to do with sanitary bins (more specifically their contents) - and then post about it on the internet - will have you heaving your breakfast up.

Starkstaring · 03/10/2018 08:08

I think I will just have my cisnormative breakfast instead.

Seeing as it’s October and I’m feeling spooky ooky...

“Listen to them. The children of the woke. Such sweet bollocks they speak.”

IdaBWells · 03/10/2018 08:08

The Guardian don't support women and are lost in "Woke Bro" land. I have no confidence in them so will not bother opening the link.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 03/10/2018 08:10

Argh, I never used to be this sweary but I read this stuff and just think fuck the fuck off.

No, let's not think about 'function'. Let's think about women having the right to dignity, privacy and safety and this right not being up for reorganisation to the convenience of men who want to be in there with them.

Let's not gaslight about obvious, frequently evidenced facts about women and sexual assault, harassment and rape.

Let's not frame it as if the only people with needs, feelings and rights are trans people.

Let's not frame it as if absolutely sane, rational and obvious issues with this being raised by women are just silly fussing. Because then the women may not read this thinking No Fucking Way.

deepwatersolo · 03/10/2018 08:13

I was allowed to comment. And I did:

'

'While this idea remains a challenge to people invested in maintaining traditional gender roles, the positive reinforcement of gender-neutral language and pronouns works with designs for lived experiences of gender that exist outside the male and female binary.'

Thing is, I am not invested in maintaining traditional gender roles. Males are. Males are dead set on maintaining high levels of violence, also called male pattern violence. And it is patently irrelevant how they identify in this regard. All of male humanity could identify as Agender Baby Jesus today, and male violence and male sexual violence will still be there.

Data show unisex changing rooms put women at risk of sexual assault, sex segregated ones are 10 times safer. These are the facts.

www.independent.co.uk/life-style/women/sexual-assault-unisex-changing-rooms-sunday-times-women-risk-a8519086.html

But, hey, let's shit on facts and women, so we can't show some Jess Bradley the door when SHE feels, we 'fellow women' should admire her female penis.

CAAKE · 03/10/2018 08:20

Ah, RMIT. A hotbed of wokeness to rival Goldsmiths.

Also, this is what "visibly trans feminine" looks like, in case you wondered.

LizzieSiddal · 03/10/2018 08:22

The only explanation for someone having such views is that they have never been afraid of a man, and I’m pleased for them!
Unfortunately they are not the norm and until all men behave themselves, stop intimidating and sexually assaulting women, they can stay out of our toilets.

LizzieSiddal · 03/10/2018 08:24

CAAKE so a man wrote that article? What the heck gives them the right to be telling women who they share toilets with?

CrunchieFriday · 03/10/2018 08:24

I'd actually be very happy for loo's to be called URINALS and TOILETS.

Those with a penis can use the urinals. Those without can use the toilets. ( Just the same as we've always done - but without labels!)

I actually think that taking away the M/F element and de-gendering would be a good thing, as it would take away the fetish element.

Most importantly, it protects the vulnerable and solves safeguarding issues.

It also has the huge bonus of helping the genuinely gender dysmorphic feel more comfortable about not having to use the "wrong" loo for their adopted gender.

If you have a penis, whether a male or a "female" one - you should be using the Urinals. Anyone who feels unsafe can use a unisex disabled loo.

I really like it. It would stop people with dicks being in people without dick's areas. Awesome. Much better idea than "identifying" which loo you want to use. I like it.

I think we should start a campaign - anyone with a penis is not allowed in the non-penis areas ( regardless of gender)

Oh wait..... Grin
