Not dropping in for discussion really, just wanted to clarify something. Having been around here a lot I've often seen it said that it's not trans people who are the problem but TRAs.

Are some of you now saying the problem isn't TRAs, it's ALL trans people?

Just for clarity. Apologies if I've misunderstood.

scepticalwoman · 01/10/2018 07:52

Public Service Announcement - twatter awaits your responses!

TimeLady · 01/10/2018 07:55

rat

Males in female spaces is the problem. Nothing to do with trans.

Redkeyboard · 01/10/2018 07:58

Some of the TRAs are not trans and unhinged and dangerous to women and democracy. Some trans people involved in this debate I admire because they speak the truth and respect other people. I do think the behaviour of the extreme trans activists, including targeting transsexuals who speak out against the ideology, is also unfair on trans people who are simply trying to get on with their lives.

Redkeyboard · 01/10/2018 07:59

Agree with TimeLady.

Juells · 01/10/2018 08:00

Just for clarity. Apologies if I've misunderstood.

I accept your apology 😜

Redkeyboard · 01/10/2018 08:01

Also great article, particularly about the problem being politicians etc capitulating. There will always be cults and nefarious individuals. Parliament is supposed to protect us from them, not change the law at their whims.

KatVonGulag · 01/10/2018 08:02

And Posie was doxed by them last night. Her children's location and photos put all over the internet.

This article is 100% correct, and they just proved it.

deepwatersolo · 01/10/2018 08:05

rat the problem is, as Miranda Yardley points out, the culture of transgenderism as it is now. And it leads to per se decent transpeople (and their allies) supporting very toxic views that harm females.

RatRolyPoly · 01/10/2018 08:06

This behaviour is an insult to trans people. Well it isn't. Anyone who even glances at twitter threads can see the thousands of trans people piling on to crush any critical thought.

The only thing I take issue with is this attempt to separate transactivists from transgender individuals

Oh okay, I misunderstood then. So what with words having meaning and all, can anyone explain what these words mean in the context? If they don't mean, "TRAs aren't the problem, ALL trans people are", of course. Thanks.

AngryAttackKittens · 01/10/2018 08:07

Parliament is supposed to protect us from them, not change the law at their whims.

What happened to "we don't negotiate with terrorists"?

RatRolyPoly · 01/10/2018 08:08

Oh okay deep, that's an understandable position; more so than having a problem with all trans people, anyway. I don't think it's what the pps were saying, but that's fine.

NewWomensMovement · 01/10/2018 08:08

Extraordinary concentration of incredibly fucked up, woman hating, child endangering stuff centered around that city and region

Absolutely. How was Jimmy Savile able to spend time in Leeds Royal Infirmary morgue unattended. There's some fucked up people enabling fucked up things in Leeds.

RatRolyPoly · 01/10/2018 08:09

BTW I actually think having a problem with "the ideology" is very dangerous, and I've posted about that before. But I won't get hung up on it here, I just wanted a bit of clarity. Not that I expect to get it.

Floisme · 01/10/2018 08:09

Yes I’ve just read about TRA posting Posie’s home address and pics of her family. Quite remarkable - most groups would respond to an article about bullying with denial but theirs is to ratchet up the bullying.

Thanks Lucy and thanks for the share token.

Juells · 01/10/2018 08:10

RatRolyPoly

Oh okay, I misunderstood then.

Must be because you got all the sentences mixed up. Easy to do.

SwearyG · 01/10/2018 08:10

Uh oh. Aunt Lydia is here and is trying to get us all to apologise for badthinks.

As scepticalwoman says remember the PSA and the screenshots for twitter. If you’re struggling how to not get outed for having an opinion just think what would Aunt Lydia do. WWALD if you will.

TimeLady · 01/10/2018 08:11

Saville is dead. Maybe those who were covering his back aren't?

RatRolyPoly · 01/10/2018 08:11

The first says a direct quote from your post Juells Confused gaslighting

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 01/10/2018 08:12

Terrific article.

AngryAttackKittens · 01/10/2018 08:12

I find that using the search function to take a quick look at a commenter's comment history can sometimes be illuminating.

Saville couldn't have done what he did without many other people facilitating him, and even more choosing to look the other way. It would be very interesting to know who those people were and what positions of authority they may hold now.

I agree.

We should apologise. We're the wrong kind of women feminists.

scepticalwoman · 01/10/2018 08:20

The irony Rat Debate is precisely what this is about. Women want to debate and to discuss. To be allowed to keep other women and especially children safe.
There is only one group who use the #nodebate and it isn't women.
