Inspired by Linda Bellos hanky and it being referred to as causing offence by a court adversary I popped into Museum of London on my way to a meeting to purchase some pins and a suffrage bag.
Their 'votes for women' pins were disappointing as they look more navy than purple.

Wearing a suffrage pin strikes me as a perfect way of signalling the fight is not over and 100 years from getting the vote it is not sufficiently political that employers and colleagues can complain (although I thought that about my women definition bag). It is a way of starting the conversation with anyone commenting on it.

So does anyone know where I can buy a suffrage colours scarf & pin?

These are fab!!

However, please be wary of the Give Women Votes story. It's an urban myth that started circulating on the web about 10 years ago (and I'm a great fan of myths in general). But it is just a myth.

Love this, definitely going to be wearing the colours.

Thanks for the note MipMipMip, important point, worth repeating 😁 (I know it was a site error btw).

Feeling great solidarity with you all this eve. Is it just me or is there a hopeful feeling right now? More coverage, more voices being allowed to be heard.

I've ordered the pins, scarves and tote bag here

If you’re in Manchester The Pankhurst Centre opens on Thursdays and has a small shop

I’m thinking of a bit of purple, white and green yarn bombing. Any fellow knitters or crocheting types about?
I can do a spot of embroidery too, I’m wondering if I can embroider a penis.

I'm pretty sure I got some suffragette pins and badges for my DSs at Waterstones this summer! Will have to see if they still have them. They were at the tills next to Hogwarts house and prefect badges Hmm

I've bought a pin and will spread the word

GenderApostate · 27/09/2018 08:34

I wonder if Giuliana was offended by the hankie because he’s too ignorant to know about the suffrage colours? Apparently, the ‘genderqueer’ flag uses very similar ones 🙄

silentcrow · 27/09/2018 08:34

My quick and easy ribbon pin from last year's IWD - I'd forgotten it was this shape rather than a loop! Now on my autumn coat rather than tucked away with the winter stuff. Smile

Gulag what do you have in mind? Crocheter here.

I’ve added a suffragette frame on Facebook. Will look into a winter scarf.

Perhaps we could do some bunting to put in public places? There are loads of patterns online for crocheting bunting with letters on them. I made some for my friend and each pendant on it took about 30 mins max whilst watching TV.

I'd never get away with wearing it as it stands in some places (even if I could adapt it to a piece of clothing) - would cutting it off at Wrong Side of History so it ends just above the strategic body part in question be an OK riddle or too obtuse?

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 27/09/2018 11:50

I'm a crocheter and a (shit) embroiderer too. Up for some craftivism.

Thanks for the links.

Has anyone pointed out the colours of the genderqueer flag?

genderqueerid.com/about-flag

Bit sinister IMHO
