Inspired by Linda Bellos hanky and it being referred to as causing offence by a court adversary I popped into Museum of London on my way to a meeting to purchase some pins and a suffrage bag.
Their 'votes for women' pins were disappointing as they look more navy than purple.

Wearing a suffrage pin strikes me as a perfect way of signalling the fight is not over and 100 years from getting the vote it is not sufficiently political that employers and colleagues can complain (although I thought that about my women definition bag). It is a way of starting the conversation with anyone commenting on it.

So does anyone know where I can buy a suffrage colours scarf & pin?

I'm going to get my knitting needles out.
The fabulous Spinners banner I might copy on to a bag

I think the site had a blip, mip - quite a few other multiple posts or even threads.

ArtemisWeatherwax · 26/09/2018 18:43

There's some nice enamel badges on ebay too. And some ribbon.

Littlemouseroar · 26/09/2018 18:54

Hmm, will have to look through my wool and crochet a scarf. Bet I’ve got the right colours hidden away.

TonnoEMaionese · 26/09/2018 18:55

I shall get knitting. A woolly hat with the cat ears in the suffragette colours should cover all bases I reckon.

"Purple symbolised dignity, white purity, and green hope."
OK then....I think I might stick with the purple and green.

Purity of purpose? Or, if you're name's Catherine, that means pure apparently. Grin

Good idea.

On a lighter note - I thought M&S's Colin the Caterpillar special edition cake was commemorating with the Suffrage colours but it turns out to be in aid of Macmillan Cancer fundraising.

VickyEadie · 26/09/2018 19:50

I've ordered the stripey scarf off redbubble.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/09/2018 19:51

That bra is truly magnificent.

MrTumblesSpottyBum · 26/09/2018 20:36

I have changed my profile pic on Facebook to the suffrage flag.

silentcrow · 26/09/2018 21:02

Oh, I can never resist a Redbubble scarf. They're such great quality. 😍

UnderHerEye · 26/09/2018 21:07

Purple symbolised dignity, white purity, and green hope

We could look at it as white for purity as in privacy?

Or purity of purpose as suggested by a pp -

I think using the same colours as does send a powerful, and necessary, message

LilithTheKitty · 26/09/2018 21:16

I got a votes for women suffragette pin from the tank museum over the summer. There was other suffragette stuff there too. I'm aware that that's probably not everyone's first place to look Grin.

WomenMakePurchasingDecisions · 26/09/2018 21:32

I’ve just been browsing Red Bubble’s Suffragette section and looking forward to the day when the scarves/mugs/notebooks all feature Posie, Dr Nic, DrRadfem, Jean Hatchett and all those other wonderful women who were prepared to stick their heads up. (And I bought a scarf.)

This is the silver lining.

Have never before considered wearing suffragette colours- respected them, but as history.

No more- after this morning, the TRAs have reignited something that they’re not going to be able to put out.

JillyArmeeen · 26/09/2018 21:54

I also will be crocheting myself a lovely suffrage scarf.

HandsOffMyRights · 26/09/2018 21:57

No doubt MRAs will start wearing these colours next.

Loving the bling one...

BlackeyedSusan · 26/09/2018 22:00

Beany hats would be very quick to crochet. Chunky yarn, size 6 hook... scarves would take longer.

Crochet or material suffragette bunting would be a possibility. Yarn bombing is a thing apparently.

Lacypants · 26/09/2018 22:03

I have a lovely "deeds not words" pin from Etsy.

DaisyTwirl · 26/09/2018 22:07

Changed my fb cover pic to this today - I've been massively inspired by Posie, Linda & Venice today.
