Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

Try Waitrose StealthNinja. I've found myself looking at food on the marks and Spencer's website and they have some lovely things. I might be a convert :)

VillageCats · 26/09/2018 17:54

Another one who can't get through in live chat...I've sent an email.

Molokonono · 26/09/2018 17:55

My just OH came home and said 'I suppose this means we need to find another supplier'.

Yup love we do!

EvaHarknessRose · 26/09/2018 17:56

That Sky news clip!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 17:56

I've cancelled my regular order that was coming this week.
I'll ring them tomorrow to leave & tell them why.

I also need to email GG tomorrow - I have a Guide and a Brownie and their reponse - you're all bigots and so is your DD if she's not on board with unexpected dick - is unacceptable.

I have been a keyboard warrior about this for years now (serial namechanger!) on MN, I am too scared to do more at work etc than fill in the regular stonewall survey in an arsey fashion. This I can do though - take my money elsewhere - and asking GG WHY they do not care about any minority girls except ones with dicks is hardly a bizarre question - all of this is totally mad. The POINT here though - as someone said earlier - whether there are hordes of transgirls wanting to join or not (I think they will have an influx of leader volunteers though) the FACT is that it was set up for girls because we benefit from space away from boys in a male supremacist society. Generations of girls have found respite from the louder, bigger, stronger and more listened to voices of males at GG. They have changed their entire philosophy and are now supporting regressive stereotypes and a girl is a feeling in a boys head, a costume, material reality is irrelevant. They are now mixed sex. This is massive >> they are (were) the biggest charity for girls in the UK. Not any more. WTF were they thinking to so casually throw away all the work of all the women who have gone before? Who do they think they are?

I expect a sudden influx of customers will feed through to the Sainsbury's buyers quite quickly!!

I use the search function to try to tell them what I need. And also email with product requests.

pennydrew · 26/09/2018 17:58

just joined after lurking for months, took myself off social media and now keep up-to-date through you all here! Thanks for this. Sent them a message and cancelled this weeks order, will cancel smart pass as their response is just not good enough. I like this type of protest, it hits them where it really hurts.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 17:59

Molokono don't let him talk to mine -
I said we'll try waitrose
He said "Why not Fortnum's?"

I have to work hard to keep him in the manner to which he is accustomed Grin

Ereshkigal · 26/09/2018 18:04

So no, I don't feel sorry for Ocado. Maybe representing your business and putting your opinion on Twitter should be preceded by some training.

This this this. Before one emptily and thoughtlessly virtue signals to millions of people in something which is hotly disputed, it's probably a good idea to a) do some research and b) run it past a senior manager.

seafret · 26/09/2018 18:05

Yes that Sky news clip was great. I did boycott Sky but their coverage of this has been quite good so now I don't have to feel bad at getting a month of NOW TV!

Am thinking of boycotting the BBC. But that means no live TV at all, even non BBC channels on freeview, but streaming a +1 channel would be OK and not too inconvenient and all the good stuff is online or can be used through a box/stick etc (privacy issues notwithstanding but I manage to get a non-voice acitvated box) Drama, Yestderday, Netflix etc.

I can live with streaming only, will have to consult DH. We need to the BBC pull them to heal and a proper mass boycott would do that within 3 months.

Molokonono · 26/09/2018 18:06

He said "Why not Fortnum's?"

Lol. We are going with a stock up once a month for staples and a weekly veg box. I can get milk once a week on my day off.

Well, I'll give them the 24 hours that they said in their response email [automatic] and then start making the arrangements tomorrow evening.

Total plums. It would have taken 5 mins to rectify this at 10am this morning.

Florries · 26/09/2018 18:10

I don't use ocado, but if I did, I would boycott them.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 26/09/2018 18:19

I emailed at 9.25am. No response!

jgrobinson · 26/09/2018 18:30

Dear Sir/Madam,

My partner and I spend an average of £[embarrassingly high amount] per month with your company.

Your company’s twitter account has endorsed Primesight’s removal of a hoarding in Liverpool that merely stated the dictionary definition of a woman. This is a disgraceful infringement of the right of free speech. People with diverse political views have a right to express them in the public sphere.

I realize that these tweets might have been mistaken and do not reflect your company’s position. Therefore it is imperative for Ocado to publicly state that you respect the right of all people—including feminists—to express their political views. Unless you release such a statement, we will be forced to switch to Waitrose.

Yours faithfully,
Dr JGR

peepholepringle · 26/09/2018 18:39

I'm starting to get the feeling that they think this will go away if they ignore it long enough.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 26/09/2018 18:40

Still no comment from Ocado then? How did the market close today?

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 26/09/2018 18:41

It will, things get forgotten with time. But that doesn't mean you can't make a dent in their side in the meantime.

RustyParker · 26/09/2018 18:49

I've cancelled my Ocado order and have reactivated my Waitrose account (ridiculously excited the Christmas slots have opened so I've booked that too!)

Carriemac · 26/09/2018 18:52

Anyone got any Waitrose money off codes? Might as weell do this properly...

AsAProfessionalFekko · 26/09/2018 18:57

You should get some when you sign up for a waitrose card.

StealthNinjaMum · 26/09/2018 19:00

Ariclock I will move onto Waitrose but have just finished my Sainsbury's order to get lego cards. It wasn't as nice a shopping experience as Ocado but they've lost a £100 order.

StealthNinjaMum · 26/09/2018 19:01

I'm still hoping Ocado will come up with an apology that makes me go back to them but it's looking increasingly unlikely.

redshoeblueshoe · 26/09/2018 19:03

Almost 27 hours since their original tweet, and they don't know how to deal with it.

lucy101101 · 26/09/2018 19:08

Just left Ocado too... thanks for flagging this up.
