Politicians underwear

For no particular reason Wink... I wonder how many politicians have put pictures of themselves in their underwear online publicly?

It seems very odd to me that someone who says they want to be an MP and later the prime minister would do this. Surely if you were at all politically savvy you'd know this was a bad idea?

I know that some MPs have posed in swimwear- one because she had been a lifeguard & when a paper found old pics she gamely posed again to highlight lifeguards great work.

But in underwear?

She was in 1987 I think.

SirVixofVixHall · 20/09/2018 20:22

La Cicciolina, I’d forgotten about her ! She was married to Jeff Coons.

SirVixofVixHall · 20/09/2018 20:25

I’m still not sure I’m thinking of the right jelly loving politico. There are so many to choose from .

BettyDuMonde · 20/09/2018 20:31

Pop Will Eat Itself wrote a song about her (1990)

TeiTetua · 20/09/2018 20:42

Pretty sure that's how Angela "Baps" Merkel got reelected so many times.

A while ago there actually was a picture circulating that was claimed to show Chancellor Merkel as a young woman, on a nude beach. As far as I recall she never confirmed or denied that it was her. But in Germany, nobody cares anyway.

BettyDuMonde · 20/09/2018 20:53

Ex councillor Karen Danczuk (ex wife of ex MP Simon Danczuk) is partial to sharing photos of her, as my nana would say, ‘in ‘er vest and britches’.

Purpleartichoke · 20/09/2018 22:18

I’ve seen a young aspiring politician on twitter make unconventional, yet incredibly flattering and well chosen fashion choices. I applaud anyone who can buck tradition and find a look that works for them.

I also wish I could bend the ear of every late teen early 20’s individual who wishes to have a professional career. I would remind them that the internet is forever. I would explain that many of us have to have clear declinations between our personal and professional lives, especially online. Our world today is so very small and the slightest hint of scandal or controversy can ruin even non-political careers.

VickyEadie · 20/09/2018 22:21

Also, your knees are a dead giveaway.

JuneOsbourne · 20/09/2018 22:23

Chancellor Merkel as a young woman, on a nude beach

On the beach being the crucial difference here. With or without cossie. That's just someone going about their business.

A world away from pout - pose - snap. "Aren't I kuh-yute?!"

Nothing says serious like underwear selfies.

Berlusconi's government

I think a number of his ministers posed in underwear (or less). But that was IIRC before and after they were actually in office. Not concurrently. Butbpeople weren't always very nice about what skills qualified then for their appointments as they did not seem to follow a typical political career path, or remain in politics

It's easy to mock politicians with dildos up their butts but even Churchill had to start somewhere.

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 00:20

It's easy to mock politicians with dildos up their butts but even Churchill had to start somewhere.

Are we supposed to praise them for it???!

SirVixofVixHall · 21/09/2018 08:59

The dildo thing...I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS WORLD. Why would anyone vote for someone who posts images like that ? 🤢

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 21/09/2018 09:18

To give them alternate employment so they stop?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/09/2018 09:31

I guessed what this was about before I'd finished reading the title depressingly, I was right

What I'm particularly enjoying is the way the point is being made without giving attention to any person who'll have spent yesterday fruitlessly refreshing the site instead of doing any actual political work

I love MN.

sorenipples · 21/09/2018 09:36

Politicians are entitled to a (legal and consensual ) private life. I do, however, expect that anyone considering running for public office be aware that the Internet is not private especially public posts under your own name and that they are putting their behaviour forward for public scrutiny.

DukeOfSussex · 21/09/2018 15:17

Nothing says serious like underwear selfies.

What about a picture of you as a baby spliced next to the picture? To show how far you've come in politics.

GenderApostate · 21/09/2018 15:38

Male knees and Legs will always look Male, especially when attached to honking great feet.

Charliethefeminist · 21/09/2018 16:26

I don't get it. Who the what now.

VickyEadie · 21/09/2018 16:37

Sent you a PM.

The Polish Women's Party ( Partia Kobiet) did a nude photo shoot a few years ago.

Maybe that's where the WEP are going wrong?

Wow, actually it was 2011 ( time flies!)

" But in Germany, nobody cares anyway."

In Germany they would think you were a perve if you DIDN'T walk around nude.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/09/2018 17:53

Right enough! Feet worthy of an Olympic swimmer. Hard to get kitten heels for those, I bet.
