I'm also perpetually astonished by the naivety of people. Abusers will go to any length to gain access to victims. That's why they become doctors, teachers, priests, care workers, scoutmasters. That's why they put hidden cameras in toilets. And that's why, yes, they will say they are transgender and dress up in a skirt and make-up if they think it gives them more opportunity to be close to potential victims.
I remember when the Jimmy Savile revelations started coming out and some people said, "But at least he did a lot of work for charity!" Yes, he did! So he could gain access to victims! He worked in hospitals not because he loved helping out in hospitals but because it gave him a ready supply of child victims who couldn't escape.
But I had the argument on FB the other day. I was trying to explain how self-ID enabled men to pose as trans so they could sexually abuse children. One of my friends got very upset and said she knew lovely trans people and how dare I say that about trans people etc. It's really exasperating. Can it honestly be that hard to understand the point that this is about abusers using self-ID to gain easy access to victims?
