JK Rowling is being called out on twitter by Owl for liking Janice Turner's fox-in-the-henhouse article.

Many of us have thought for a long while that JKR is on side. I wish she would come out publicly and fully support women.

Is it yet an actual, punishable, offence to refer to someone by the "wrong" pronoun yet?

I see women are still losing their jobs and getting crucified on social media by men for questioning these things.

Just wondering exactly how 1984 the world has become so far.

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 14/09/2018 11:50

Go on JK Rowling, join us in the light!

FermatsTheorem · 14/09/2018 12:26

CKoRn - no.

I checked the GRA quite carefully in the light of a discussion about this recently.

However, I have noticed (as a new form of throwing confusion on the subject and as a scare tactic) a number of trans-ideology-friendly posters asserting that it's already illegal. They are wrong, but hoping (I think) that if they repeat a lie often enough, people will start to believe it and become further censored in what they are prepared to say.

stillathing · 14/09/2018 12:41

i'm sorry but i just googled fox and owl having only really heard about them here..... when people described them as an ordinary boring hetero couple looking to get in on the lgbt movement i still expected them to appear at least a tiny bit unconventional.

i have just spluttered some metaphorical coffee on my laptop i am laughing so hard. this HAS to be a wind up? or another plant by a right wing movement looking to destabilise gay rights?

stillathing · 14/09/2018 12:43

i mean if i was L or B or T, I'd be pretty angry about these two taking a platform tbh

OrchidInTheSun · 14/09/2018 12:47

Stillathing - Fox is a natal woman; Owl is a natal man. They're like that couple that got married recently where the transwoman is in the army

Shampooeeee · 14/09/2018 12:54

I dream that she’s writing a brilliant book that will cleverly expose the trans agenda through metaphor.

Tanith · 14/09/2018 13:04

“ Fox is a natal woman; Owl is a natal man. They're like that couple that got married recently where the transwoman is in the army”

That’s the thing, isn’t it? They’re actually not that unusual, interesting or newsworthy any more.

stillathing · 14/09/2018 13:08

oh apologies and thanks orchid i take some of that rant back then!

boatyardblues · 14/09/2018 13:16

and experience the freedom of a life in the radical feminist uplands."

This made me smile. I’m assuming it’s Shady Pines all way, where it’s always gin o’clock.

Beesandfrogsandfleas · 14/09/2018 13:28

I noticed one reply on Twitter was stating that trans men should be in men's prisons, I wondered has this ever happened? I'm going to guess that no biological woman who has had no surgery will ever want to be placed in a mans prison.

ApplesinmyPocket · 14/09/2018 13:57

"And it's so insidious"

It's frightening how insidious it is. The first time I ever heard 'woman with a penis' I was so startled I laughed; how ridiculous, nonsensical, who's going to buy this, etc. Now it sounds almost normal .

It began with 'born in the wrong body', which insidious little phrase wound its way into the collective consciousness until it sounded reasonable, and now is trotted out as if it's an actual medical diagnosis.

RedToothBrush · 14/09/2018 14:05

Waits for the Daily Mail Headline:

JKRowling attacked on twitter for not supporting Rapists Rights

clicks like

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 14/09/2018 19:00

I emailed TSS. They said 'it' is 'dehumanising' which I suppose would be fair enough WERE IT NOT A FUCKING OWL WE ARE TALKING ABOUT Grin

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 14/09/2018 19:01

Your DS2 sounds👍LangCleg.

LangCleg · 14/09/2018 19:06

Both my DSs despise the regressive left, so they are very open to GC opinions. They came to it through disliking the authoritarianism rather than the attitudes towards women - but it certainly made them more open to considering the attitudes towards women.

Iused2BanOptimist · 14/09/2018 19:42

Looks like this fox is having a laugh. I don't know about the wrong side of history but it does feel like women are the wrong side of the joke.

Cute fox!

I now feel the need to point out that I never go into henhouses and I don't have relationships with owls Blush NAFALT!

nauticant · 14/09/2018 19:50

To go with the fox, here's the laughing owl. With a cheeky wink! What larks!

woman Grin

BettyDuMonde · 14/09/2018 20:04

That’s awesome.

Ereshkigal · 14/09/2018 20:13

Sometimes I wonder if TRAs are completely tone deaf or if they pick particularly awful cases to support and enforce dominance precisely because they're so awful. Maybe they see it as the most effective way to shift the Overton window.

I think partly, but it's also a Duping Delight power kick. The more outrageous thing they can achieve the better.

FermatsTheorem · 14/09/2018 20:14

I love that cartoon, woman.

Ereshkigal · 14/09/2018 20:16

YANBU. There is no safe option to use in regards to someone who describes themselves as nonbinary. Which is likely to be part of their reason for doing so, imo - so much delicious power in making everyone walk on eggshells.

This exactly.
