JK Rowling is being called out on twitter by Owl for liking Janice Turner's fox-in-the-henhouse article.

Many of us have thought for a long while that JKR is on side. I wish she would come out publicly and fully support women.

Sometimes I wonder if TRAs are completely tone deaf or if they pick particularly awful cases to support and enforce dominance precisely because they're so awful. Maybe they see it as the most effective way to shift the Overton window.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/09/2018 22:12

If she responded with "that'll be right, hen" I'd spit tea all over my screen (and start following her).

The authoritarian streak is strong in that one gulag

I look forward to being interned alongside my fellow MNers and JK in Yakutsk sports camp and theatre group gulag once these guys take over. We may starve to death but at least the company will be intellectual.

FermatsTheorem · 13/09/2018 22:45

I want it to be known that I fully expect a spa and mani-pedi at Yakutsk, Bowl. And I am also expecting to be allowed to give Master Ramekin a snuggle.

Bowlofbabelfish · 13/09/2018 22:52

He’s very into cuddles fermats Grin

And milk
And farting

arranfan · 13/09/2018 22:52

If she responded with "that'll be right, hen"

I don't know how widespread this is but in our neighbourhood tho' "wifey" and variations on it were used for women, "sweetie wives" was more often used to refer to gossiping men rather than women.

Whenever I see somebody trying to be up in JKR's business and telling her how to woman or be a SJW, I always wonder if she's thinking, "Away with your blatherskate you sweetie wife".

JKR types something else, but she's thinking it, I'm sure. :)

FermatsTheorem · 13/09/2018 22:55

arran I once got deleted on an obvious troll thread for saying "as my Edinburgh mother would have said, 'aye, that'll be right'." Wink

Cuddles, milk and farting - he will go far, Bowl.

NotBadConsidering · 13/09/2018 23:01

There’s a huge opportunity for JKR here. Think of the story lines:

“Draco left the Slytherin common room and headed towards the girls’ bedroom. He was determined to finally see this through, he didn’t care what Crabbe and Goyle said, it was his right. He crossed the threshold, only for the Sex Determination Charm to repel him backwards, causing facial hair to instantly sprout from his chin. ‘Wait till my father hears about this!’ he yelled angrily at no one in particular. ‘He will have Dumbledore out of this place! Wizards are witches!’”

Iused2BanOptimist · 13/09/2018 23:01

Ooh. She's responded with another like of Janice Turner's response. This is hotting up!

JK Rowling
birdsdestiny · 13/09/2018 23:03

That's the one, Iusedtoban, thankyou Flowers

AngryAttackKittens · 13/09/2018 23:07

There'll be skating on Lake Baikal (in ankle chains) and all the moss you can dig out of the permafrost, Bowl, it'll be great!

FermatsTheorem · 13/09/2018 23:11

And cabbage soup. Think of the cabbage soup. Recipe c/o One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.

And think how all that lovely cabbage will further develop young Ramekin's farting ability.

Iused2BanOptimist · 13/09/2018 23:12

Glad to oblige Bird

Iused2BanOptimist · 13/09/2018 23:15

When I'm feeling gloomy and grumpy I sometimes wonder if Ivan could restore my optimism. Or maybe he would be an annoying Pollyanna character to be around. But skating on Lake Baikal in great company and lots of cabbage soup. Very tempting. And I'd lose some weight. Win win.

Bowlofbabelfish · 13/09/2018 23:18

It sounds so much fun!

I have an image of JK, glass of something in hand, scrolling through for GC tweets to like.

Go on, go on, go on.,,

skating on Lake Baikal (in ankle chains)

Some people call them neck collars or wrist shackles but I prefer to think of them as very chunky jewellery and they are free gifts for all of us conscripted to enrolled in the re-education camps of the re-purposed Azkaban and Nurmengard.

JillyArmeeen · 13/09/2018 23:20

I hope she comes out. Will be very disappointed if she just capitulated again. Come on Jk, you can do it. Stand with us. Lionel shriver has done it. We need these voices.
Jk really should be in the position of being able to do and say what ever she likes, who are these losers thinking they can police and silence one of the richest most influencial women in the country.
Its laughable. They're like spoilt toddlers.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/09/2018 23:21

great, all those pringles stored around my middle will be useful someday then to supplement the cabbage soup. oh heck it will stink

LemonJello · 13/09/2018 23:27

OMG that second like of JK’s is utter class 😂💪

AngryAttackKittens · 13/09/2018 23:27

Every time I see fujoshi (look it up, it explains a lot about why we're seeing so many young "trans men" calling themselves gay men) throwing a tantrum about this stuff I want to respond with "Yuri on Ice wasn't a documentary, love".

Anime has a lot to answer for!

AngryAttackKittens · 13/09/2018 23:28

(This one is called Hope despite apparently hating everyone and everything, but especially women.)

Firelegs · 13/09/2018 23:30

J K Rowling is an intelligent and decent woman.

Of course she’s a terf! Grin

ToeToToe · 13/09/2018 23:35

JK Rowling was always going to be gender critical. Let's face it - we all knew.

Just like Glinner & Robert Webb, - ha, none of us really took the "fat fingers' thing seriously did we?

She's my heroine. A great writer. I love all her books. She's far too intelligent to be not be gender critical. Come on - we've read her books.

FermatsTheorem · 13/09/2018 23:36

I'm torn between wanting to snort with laughter at this and feeling terribly sad for these young women. One double mastectomy later, and discovering that buff straight men don't want to sleep with you because you've butchered yourself, and buff gay men never wanted to sleep with you because you have a vulva. Because you can bet your bottom dollar that the concept of breaking the cotton jockstrap will never take off in the way the concept of breaking the cotton ceiling has.
