FFS Now Thinx have gone woke

I have been considering buying some period underwear for a while now and, having seen an advert for them almost every time I open my Facebook app I finally decided to purchase some Thinx pants.

Only I didn't go through with the purchase. Because their website has removed almost all trace of the word "girls" and "women" and replaced them with phrases such as "bleeders" and "people with periods".
I know this has happened relatively recently as I've been on their website fairly frequently, deciding on whether or not to buy from them. I can only imagine that they are doing this slowly.

I will not be buying any Thinx underwear now (I'm looking at WUKA, if anyone's interested) as I do not I identify as a "bleeder" but as a WOMAN.

From Gorgon's link:

"“Separate but equal” bathrooms were only introduced in the late 19th century to reinforce the idea that women, the ~inherently weaker~ sex, needed a special place to themselves for safety. This ideology continues today, with the harmful argument that micromanaging where trans people pee “protects” women. In reality, trans people need the most protection in public spaces."

FFS.

I have no words. Or at least no words that wouldn't get me deleted. So incredibly ahistorical it makes one despair.

SausageOnAFork · 12/09/2018 20:51

If someone who isn’t a woman has blood gushing out of them for a week then need a Doctor not some knickers.

AspieAndProud · 12/09/2018 20:52

Bleeders that is so ridiculous it actually makes me laugh.

They've got a bleeding nerve.

Ekphrasis · 12/09/2018 20:56

There was a thread about them recently; they came up with "boy shorts" for trans men/ non binary types. like, women never like to wear shorts...? Hmm

They're so woke they meet themselves coming backwards.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 12/09/2018 21:16

They wanted to call period pants boy shorts??? 😵

ChattyLion · 12/09/2018 21:24

I won’t be buying. Women are their customers.
How is that not obvious to them?
Why can’t they celebrate that?
Women have periods.
All their marketing is around their claim to be feminists Sad

malaguena · 12/09/2018 21:31

Thinx has always been a very woke brand and I don’t think they care about complaints. I highlighted the language issue to them months ago ( I think the term they used was ‘menstruators’, only a step away from incubators) and I would never ever buy from a brand that treats women so appallingly. They can have the trans men market as those are the only customers worthy of their attention. Vote with your money people!

FermatsTheorem · 12/09/2018 21:32

Bleeders. BLEEDERS!!!!

FUCK'S SAKE, COULD THEY BE MORE OFFENSIVE IF THEY TRIED?

Sorry for shouting, but...

Fuck's sake.

That's all I've got on this one.

'Physiological pants' are the eBay unbranded knockoffs.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 12/09/2018 22:23

Yep bleeder is an insult where I’m from too😂 very poor choice of words there.

Trinity1976 · 12/09/2018 22:24

"Another myth that is commonly perpetuated by feminists who oppose trans rights is that biological sex cannot be argued with, even if you respect gender identity. You’re either born with XX or XY chromosomes and that’s that. However, multiple studies have proven that sex is far more complex than just a binary.

Hiding bigotry behind the mask of “science” is not unique to our history."

Anyone get the impression that a TRA has been writing this utter drivel?

LangCleg · 12/09/2018 22:26

Where is the fucking third gamete, you useless idiots?

Maria1982 · 12/09/2018 22:28

Oh god! I’m incensed.

I have also been considering buying Thinx but I’m certainly not doing that now !!!

People who menstruate indeed. The word is women!

Isitme13 · 12/09/2018 22:30

That’s infuriating.

I use Thinx, and they are excellent - comfortable, reliable. Will have to find another brand to use when the ones I have need replacing.

QuizteamBleakley · 12/09/2018 22:31

They also seem to have a whiff of the MLM about them

littlbrowndog · 12/09/2018 22:38

Och they just hoping that we all use their brand name.
Pushe# them google on their hits

So you know let them not have to,oxygen of publicity
PR gone silly

SirVixofVixHall · 12/09/2018 23:08

I posted about this a few weeks ago, when the blog about the pants , with all the gaslighty comments appeared in my inbox. I was just about to buy some, but that article gave me the rage. The bit about the history of women’s single sex loos in particular. Grrrrrrr. Wankers.

InionEile · 12/09/2018 23:09

They are a very 'woke' brand. It seems insane to alienate the population whose biological need their product is meeting by refusing to call us 'women' but sadly I do know a number of painfully woke right-on types, 'bleeders' among them, who would love to see this. So they know their market.

It's definitely not me though, nor anyone else on MN Feminist forums Grin

I do love that 'bleeders' is a slang insult in the UK and the idiots don't even know that. I guess they could also use 'menstruators'. Anything to avoid saying the dreaded 'w' word to refer to people who menstruate!!

glagdy · 12/09/2018 23:10

I'm from the States and I see bleeders as an insulting term!

InionEile · 12/09/2018 23:16

And, yes, their statement on the history of gender-segregated bathrooms is stupid.

'As if outhouses had little stick figures on them during the Revolutionary War!!' har har har.

Well, during the Revolutionary War era, it wasn't respectable for ladies to be out and about in public, frequenting taverns or anywhere that would require the use of an 'outhouse'. A housebound lifestyle was the norm for us women for centuries due to the threat to women's safety posed by men in those days and the fundamental belief that 'a woman's place was in the home'. Public space was male space until quite recently from a historical point of view.

Bathrooms for women were introduced in the late 1800s as the industrial economy made it more acceptable for even middle-class women to work outside the home in factories or offices.

So gender-segregated bathrooms are what made public life safe enough for women to work in business - and eventually become 'She-EOs' who could make knickers for 'bleeders' and refuse to call themselves women for fear of offending a tiny number of men with gender dysphoria. What progress!

Sorry, having a childish LOL at Intimate Portal. Mine’s an intimate radicalisation portal.
I was thinking about trying some period pants, because my periods are very heavy. Thinks can fuck off though.
