FFS Now Thinx have gone woke

I have been considering buying some period underwear for a while now and, having seen an advert for them almost every time I open my Facebook app I finally decided to purchase some Thinx pants.

Only I didn't go through with the purchase. Because their website has removed almost all trace of the word "girls" and "women" and replaced them with phrases such as "bleeders" and "people with periods".
I know this has happened relatively recently as I've been on their website fairly frequently, deciding on whether or not to buy from them. I can only imagine that they are doing this slowly.

I will not be buying any Thinx underwear now (I'm looking at WUKA, if anyone's interested) as I do not I identify as a "bleeder" but as a WOMAN.

Bleeders? They can fuck off and stuff their bleeder pants where the sun don't shine.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 13/09/2018 17:34

Good grief, they're embarrassingly historically illiterate.

IAmSproutycus · 13/09/2018 18:00

What a shame. I had been thinking of buying some. Will look elsewhere.

FeminaSum · 13/09/2018 18:21

It just so happens that a lot of these people are women.

Just so happens. As if it's a fairly arbitrary correlation.

FFS. No man has ever had a period. Reality exists. Words mean things.

Noqont · 13/09/2018 18:27

Shame actually. I could do with some of those. I'll take my money elsewhere though and find a brand that doesn't refer to women as bleeders.

NotTerfNorCis · 13/09/2018 18:55

That article says:

However, multiple studies have proven that sex is far more complex than just a binary.

The article it links to, although supportive of gender ideology, doesn't actually say that. It says the biology behind male and female differences is complex. Yes, biology is complex but that doesn't mean there's a spectrum of sexes, with everyone a bit male and a bit female.

stillathing · 13/09/2018 19:03

Hi thinx

Even simple creatures can understand sex - my dog knows who is a woman and doesn't bother to sniff men's bums (nice, I know).

A clitoris never got anybody pregnant and changing gender identity does not protect a woman against rape or pregnancy. A person born with a penis will never need your product. Gender identities are not the same as sex. Sex matters and you are peddling dangerous lies to young people. Why is that? What's your agenda?

SausageOnAFork · 13/09/2018 21:18

You know something just occurred to me.

You can say that a pink pen, a handbag or a skirt is for women because society dictates that those things are indicative of a woman, even though there is nothing unique to women that means only women can use them.

However a product that can only be of use to women due to a biological fact of human life is advertised to menstruaters.

InionEile · 13/09/2018 23:26

Exactly, Sausage. The trans agenda is deconstructing female-ness to become nothing more than the fetishised fantasies of male objectification while ignoring the biological reality of inhabiting a female body.

It's total insanity when you think about it for more than a minute:

Pink pens, rainbows, unicorns, tutus, heavy make-up and long hair, a 'sexy' walk, enjoying being catcalled = female

Sanitary products, birth control, abortion, pregnancy support, labour, cervical exams = not specifically female! Could be anyone!! Of any gender!!!

ILuvBirdsEye · 14/09/2018 07:04

Rediculous! You would think someone in a gynaecology related field would have a better grasp of physical material reality.

LikesAnimalPark · 14/09/2018 08:22

www.shethinx.com/pages/giveback Surprised they haven't removed She from their domain name. Notice the 3 gender cartoon character for a website for "menstruators".

stillathing · 20/09/2018 11:17

modibodi make a huge range and don't seem to be afraid to use the terms woman or girls. pricey though!

thefirstmrsdewinter · 20/09/2018 12:37

Their super-duper-wokeness has always been part of their identity as a company. That harassment thing really shook them up though I think they were conflicted as their wokeness also extends to being super-chill about sex and self-expression so you could kind of smell the wood burning.

I bought Thinx pants when my periods were light, three-day non-issues and still found them unable to deal with what had been very manageable with a couple of tampons. The blood just leaks over the edges of the gusset and leaves two half-moon stains on the trouser legs. They also give me swamp-arse. Anyone who doesn't buy them on ideological grounds is not missing much.

I'm happy with my Lunapads. They are also a bit too woke for my liking ('some dads have periods' ) but considering the current climate they're pretty women-centred (can't believe I'm writing that about the manufacturers of a menstrual product). They have a product for 'transmasculine menstruators' but other items are for women, they are a self-described women-owned company etc.

SausageOnAFork · 20/09/2018 13:06

They have a product for 'transmasculine menstruators' but other items are for women, they are a self-described women-owned company etc.

Now that is fine. I can see how a young trans man would want that. But don’t pretend that women don’t exist.

Haworthia · 20/09/2018 14:31

How do the products for “transmasculine menstruators” (when/why does “transmasculine” replace “trans man” or “trans male”, I wonder?) differ from products for women?

Or is there just a separate section of the website selling the same products in “manly” colours, mainly for marketing/virtue signalling purposes?

thefirstmrsdewinter · 20/09/2018 15:27

My assumption is that transman is a specific identity and transmasculine covers a number of queer/fluid options - ? (Perhaps I shouldn't assume, but I think it's a relatively safe assumption that it just covers more bases.)

They're just boxer briefs - as already loved by many girls, boys, women and men - though in this case they're lined and you can wear them with Lunapad inserts. And yes there may be a certain amount of 'inclusivity' (aka virtue signalling) involved.

On the face of it Lunapads appear to be a women-run business largely employing women but they do have a blog (of course they do) where a lot of crucial inclusivity and fingerwagging take place: lunapads.com/blogs/all/3-reasons-to-quit-saying-feminine-hygiene
And they've linked to this bullshit: www.facebook.com/groups/255877214847553/about/
