Turn out transmasc is trans or gender queer, not quite non-binary, not quite masculine or feminiine, but a bit more masculine that feminine, on some days at least, or maybe is a demiguy, or polygendered even, but they don't want to wear a dress, but maybe don't want a penis, or breasts. They don't seem to know.

The page I read ''gender.wikia.com/wiki/Transmasculine]] was just full of comments from young women not knowing who or what they are (er, didn't we all feel a bit like that) and questioning stereotypes but also feeling diconnected from their bodies, and feeling very lost. So very incredibly sad :(

Ereshkigal · 12/09/2018 22:17

I guess the original pointless labels weren't quite stunning or brace enough.

Ereshkigal · 12/09/2018 22:17

Brave!

2rebecca · 12/09/2018 22:37

The TRAs on Twitter who are so keen to be called women and get in our spaces just don't communicate like women. Had tweets from 2 today. One told me to wind my neck in, when I was just defending Posies poster and the other made a patronising comment then called me "sweetie". Not sure why any women want to talk to these folk. They don't use social media to try and persuade people they are reasonable people who can debate their point of view. Silencing dissent is the only sort of debate they can cope with

Starkstaring · 13/09/2018 09:15

Just had a great idea for another huge poster, or perhaps could be pasted on the side of buses. Stonewall couldn't possibly object, and might even want to fund it Smile:

"Some women have penises, get over it".

Then let's see how that plays with the population at large.

PersistenceIsNotFutile · 13/09/2018 09:50

Starkstaring I think there's a very good reason why Stonewall themselves haven't funded a campaign (with their very deep pockets)....

People understand biological fact, and the TRAs lack of logical, fact based arguments don't hold water with the general population.

They know this, and this is why they are so angry with us for raising awareness of the GRA changes, because they were banking on it being passed under the radar.

Starkstaring · 13/09/2018 12:47

Exactly -it's kind of like how out of touch politicians were about Brexit - they are so in their bubble that they can only hear the activists.

BettyDuMonde · 13/09/2018 13:34

Transmen will end up in men’s prisons, should the TRA types get their TWAW way.

Transmasculine people, not claiming to actually BE men, or MALE, will be able to stick with their birth estate.

I think transmasculine is a better descriptor, really.

Everyone knows masculine and feminine refer to stereotypes, even those who glaze over when you talk about gender being a construct/an oppressive system.

Don’t think the equivalent ‘’transfeminine’ will take off though, looking at all the middle aged (and beyond) T ‘girls’ out there, descriptive accuracy doesn’t seem to be high on the gender agenda...

BettyDuMonde · 13/09/2018 13:39

Of course, if transfeminine did take off, we’d probably be wise to trade ‘Feminism’ back in for ‘Women’s Lib’.

Just so we don’t have the ‘feminism is for feminine people’ battles where miniskirted men tell butch women that they aren’t part of the oppressed class 🙄

happydappy2 · 13/09/2018 13:49

donated-is pathetic that some confused men view this as literal violence-they need to grow up.

FloralBunting · 13/09/2018 14:06

I've already decided to use the phrase Women's Liberation more, tbh.

FloralBunting · 13/09/2018 14:08

Actually, the complaints about "Why wasn't the money given to a refuge?" remind me of Judas in the bible, when a woman pours perfume on Jesus, complaining that the perfume could have been sold and the money given to the poor from the common purse, and the narrator makes the note that Judas was the purse bearer and was stealing from it.

mimivanne · 13/09/2018 14:18

Donated

Juells · 13/09/2018 14:29

Where did you donate?

ToeToToe · 13/09/2018 14:46

Floral, that's a good analogy.

Here is Liverpool Council's response (I got it off a Twitter TA), who also seem to have a fair bit of money sloshing about too - and ample time to talk about this - arranging light shows and flags, "streetscene" teams to remove stickers stating those diabolical biological facts, etc - whilst simultaneously removing women's sex segregated toilets in public buildings.

Thanks Liverpool Hmm

The lighting and flag thing is utterly ridiculous. Perhaps they can make everyone salute it?

ToeToToe · 13/09/2018 15:12

Ha - wouldn't surprise me.

ToeToToe · 13/09/2018 15:33

Oh I've just seen there's a whole thread about this Smile

mimivanne · 13/09/2018 16:05

Juells

I'm no good at links,Persistenceisnotfutile (page 1) has posted the Link

KennDodd · 13/09/2018 18:23

I think a good response to 'trans women are women' statement is to ask, 'what is a women?' They can then tie themselves up in knots trying to answer.
