LiverpoolReSisters · 14/09/2018 12:32

Yes, it isn't our campaign, we just took the picture. We are happy to see it in our city, especially since our City Council have recently stated "TRANSWOMEN ARE WOMAN" and "no debate".

Melamin · 14/09/2018 12:46

Love the poster, love the website Smile

mimivanne · 14/09/2018 14:30

So happy to see this

Ereshkigal · 14/09/2018 19:08

Brilliant :) they have T shirts too!

BabyItsAWildWorld · 14/09/2018 22:17

This is fab.
Can we have more billboards nationally?

I'll donate.

Ereshkigal · 14/09/2018 22:19

Me too.

mimivanne · 14/09/2018 22:32

And me

MipMipMip · 14/09/2018 22:53

Brilliant!

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 14/09/2018 23:23

Yes more billboards please. I'll donate.

Elephantinacravat · 14/09/2018 23:29

Already talk on Twitter about defacing it. Yes, I'm sure vandalising a billboard that says 'woman: adult human female' will be a great look. In fact the vandalising would probably help our cause because people would see it and think 'why the fuck has anyone got a problem with that statement?'

I think the TRAs must know even themselves that calling that billboard 'transphobia' is a bit of a stretch.

PersistenceIsNotFutile · 14/09/2018 23:35

Surely they don't even know where it is.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 14/09/2018 23:36

Yay!

Bus advertising?

seafret · 14/09/2018 23:43

Who did this (piece of excleence) then?! am I a bit confused.

But please do more! I have donated to Resisters and can manage one more this month.

PerverseConverse · 14/09/2018 23:43

Awesome!

LiverpoolReSisters · 14/09/2018 23:49

seafret Liverpool ReSisters and standingforwomen.com are two separate groups.

Liverpool ReSisters don't accept donations, we are a small group of independent feminists doing guerilla activism on a shoestring.

standingforwomen.com has a different approach, and is raising funds for larger bits of activism like the billboard.

The billboard was placed in Liverpool due to the Labour party conference here in September, in order to raise awareness.

Hope that helps. :)

Swear Godmother @swearygodmother
Dying laughing here. Some dimwit has reported @HumanFemales’s billboard to the ASA for being offensive. Will they be complaining to the OED for the same reason? Fuckwits.

Is it offensive? You decide...

#sexmatters

It's not remotely offensive as it's stating the obvious and unless dictionaries should be burned I don't know how it can be argued as such.

A point here, though I don't 100% know if it's relevant or not.

What is this advertising? It's important about the nature of the advert. The ASA only covers normal advertising. It DOES NOT cover political advertising. Its out side its remit.

Meanwhile, political ads in non-broadcast media (posters, newspapers etc) whose principal function is to influence voters in local, regional, national or international elections or referendums are exempt from the Advertising Code. We can’t, therefore, look into complaints that political ads are misleading, harmful or offensive.

Now it seems a bit fuzzy here, and perhaps is a grey area because I can't see whether it HAS to be political campaigning directly relating to a particular election.

Certainly the poster's primary objective is to influence voters in a political manner. Its precisely why it was placed in Liverpool for the Labour Party conference.

I can't think of any other purpose for the poster but to influence voters and spark debate. It seems an easy argument to make.

So if anyone is connected with the campaign if reading, make sure you are fully aware of this and make the point if necessary.

The ASA only covers advertising FOR PRODUCTS or SERVICES that might be being advertised in a way that is offensive.

There is a reason that the ASA is not allowed to cover political advertising. Guess why? Because it would restrict free speech and political debate of important issues.

Love this. I have one of the T-shirts, I'm almost tempted to go to Liverpool to get a selfie with the poster!

ToeToToe · 16/09/2018 12:24

It's all kicking off over at #adulthumanfemale twitter. Oh dear god Grin

"I'm an adult human female who also happens to be trans"

Er, no.

ToeToToe · 16/09/2018 12:27

Tara Hewitt's trying to make jokes, but can barely conceal the fury over the whole thing.
