This trans journalist had a chance encounter with a supporter of WPUK. Was this one of you lot?

Really thoughtful article - division into two camps without engaging with each other is not the answer.

Interesting how the author of the article's very apparent unwillingness to listen to the woman who approached her isn't deemed to have been a problem.

FloralBunting · 11/09/2018 16:30

Oh, riiight. It's time for dialogue, now, is it? Let's get round the table and discuss the 'unintended' negative consequences of bad laws? How very congenial (and late in the day).

jasminemaya · 11/09/2018 16:38

I would have thought an invitation for dialogue from a trans person rather than #nodebate would be welcomed.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/09/2018 16:42

You lot?

How rude

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 16:47

"Dialogue" is an interesting way to describe a situation in which one person lectures and the other listens patiently.

jasminemaya · 11/09/2018 16:48

Apologies Rufus, I meant you genteel ladies.

OP posts:
jasminemaya · 11/09/2018 16:49

AAA why not pen a response and start the dialogue?

OP posts:
NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 16:50

CofE is quite tolerant and stuff aren't they?

It's not like that bonkers lot in USA or something.

Not that I know if MIL is CofE but it's a reasonable gues here Grin

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 16:51

I think the assumption that CofE people are all homophobic is a bit nuts TBH.

Loads of gay and lesbian vicars and stuff, gay marriage and whathaveyou.

It's the evangelicals and whatnot you want to watch out for.

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 16:52

Why don't you do it, Jasmine? Be the change you want to see and all that.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 16:53

There are already transpeople who post in this section.

Plenty of dialogue thanks.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 16:54

Both GC women and trans people have a point to make and imo would benefit from listening to each other.

What points do you believe GC poeple have to make, OP?

jasminemaya · 11/09/2018 16:56

I'm too neutral - the author has invited dialogue so the indie should feel obliged to publish a response. I'm sure one of you genteel ladies could put the point across well.

OP posts:
AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 16:57

I'm rather curious as to why someone who wants respectful dialogue would take the tone that Jasmine does here. I mean, "you lot", it's not exactly warm and friendly.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 16:57

genteel ladies

laydeeeesssss

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 16:57

FloralBunting · 11/09/2018 16:59

I'm over the hump of irritation and into mild amusement now. OP comes in with a silly article and asks if anyone here is the person in the article. Not in a threatening manner, you understand.

Then decides to fling some shit at the church when the ploy is unsuccessful.

And then decides it's time for some mutual reaching out, and when this suggestion is laughed at for being credibility-free, feigns disappointment that we don't want to have a cosy chat.

I do wonder how this kind of behaviour plays out elsewhere in the world.

KittyKlawsReturns · 11/09/2018 17:00

Do we still get deleted for yawning?

Asking for a friend.

Genuine LOL Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 17:00

IME when people act like that irl the reaction is generally bafflement and attempts to disengage.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/09/2018 17:02

Apologies Rufus, I meant you genteel ladies

Well im not sure thats any better

How about 'was it one of the women in FWR?'

Or on mumsnet would probably be better even...lots of women have these opinion thingys

FloralBunting · 11/09/2018 17:03

AAK, well, quite. It's not an actual attempt to engage at all, so I'd ask all lurkers to assess it with a clear eye. What do you think the OP is doing here?

And I ain't fucking genteel, in case anyone was under any illusions.

BettyDuMonde · 11/09/2018 17:03

That handbag was a crime against fashion.

FermatsTheorem · 11/09/2018 17:05

"You lot", "genteel ladies," attacks on people's religious faith followed by wide-eyed disingenuous "oh I didn't mean it that way", you couldn't make it up. In another poster, without a posting history, one might be getting suspicious at this point. Of course OP does have a posting history, so I'm sure OP is in good faith.

Obviously not religious faith... but you get what I mean.

BettyDuMonde · 11/09/2018 17:06

I don’t think anyone GC actually reads the indie nowadays?

It jumped the shark with that silly Owl ‘facts’ piece that was thoroughly debunked by the actual government figures realeased shortly after 🤪

BettyDuMonde · 11/09/2018 17:09

CoE are blimmin’ desperate for bums on seats/contributions to the spire restoration fund, in my experience,
