Goldsmiths, home of witch hunting transwoman Natasha Kennedy needs to sort itself out.

Last night they started harassing a load of 'T*rfs' on Twitter and then today they suggested they might like to spend some time in a gulag - before going on to write a rather long, propaganda piece in their defense.

twitter.com/lgbtqgold/status/1039140880731521025.

I didn't think leftists like this actually existed.

Is this a real account?

meg john is the one who is mates with 2 people who see "intergenerational sexualities" as the most oppressed of the sexualities, right? As in, has co-written stuff with them?

Urbanbeetler · 11/09/2018 14:35

Have you seen the statement from the Goldsmiths student union? Apologies if I missed this earlier. Please don’t feel the same about everyone there. We sent some amazing students there. (Teacher)

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 14:37

So the LBTQSDRGY++ have flounced from twitter and from being a recognised group @ goldsmiths.

Good.

arranfan · 11/09/2018 14:38

Applause for Goldsmith's SU for taking such decisive action.

Women's Equality Party could learn something from this lesson. Perhaps issuing a rebuttal to CM's tweets as premature and unfounded might be appropriate.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/09/2018 14:38

Have you seen the statement from the Goldsmiths student union

Wow! That's really strong! Perhaps the people in charge are realising the reputation Goldsmiths is getting, and how that may impact revenue

NothingOnTellyAgain · 11/09/2018 14:41

But then saying they wanted to send women who disagreed with their ideas for re-education in a gulag
and then going on to say gulags are v misunderstood and were kind cosy pleasant places
is really fucking extreme
and offensive

From the Daily Mail article:
The student union suspended the organisation pending an investigation, while the university said the tweets were 'inappropriate'.

And

A spokesman for Goldsmiths, University of London said: 'Goldsmiths has a diverse and inclusive community with many people caring deeply about trans rights.

'In this exchange, the language used was clearly inappropriate and we support the decision of the Students' Union to suspend the student society with immediate effect.

We will work with the Students' Union to ensure continued support and representation for LGBTQ+ students.'

And

Goldsmiths Student Union said: 'We condemn the abhorrent content of the tweets and they are in complete opposition to the views and values of the Students’ Union.

'The society have broken multiple union policies and procedures, including failing to adhere to our code of conduct, and we have issued multiple requests for the group to delete the tweets.

'As such, the society have been suspended and disaffiliated from the Students’ Union, pending investigation.'

This is what 'account locked due to safeguarding' means.

It looks like Both the individual involved AND the entire society are now under investigation.

I believe I'm right in saying @LGBTGold has now been deleted from twitter too (I'm getting user not found).

After this it's hard to see Goldsmiths not watching and monitoring LGBT activism at the university like bloody hawks.

What a damn shame.

It really has damaged the university's reputation and a lot of Goldsmiths grads who aren't part of this political cult are going to be mighty piss at how it reflects on them - and they are important to the university and have influence elsewhere in power.

Um, Aimee 'My Daddy is a paedophile rapist' Challenor is the LGBT rep at the OU

OH FOR FUCKS SAKE

Now both an ethical and consumer consideration is chucked on top.

How am I supposed to entrust my kid's education to, and chuck the best part of 15 grand at, people who make those sorts of "informed choices"?

It's not like the cash grows on trees for us due to copious trust funds spouting left, right and centre. This is money we've actually worked like dogs for. And saved.

I live under a pile of blankets (when not forced to de-blanket to work) through the winter cos I really feel the cold, but it helped shave a couple of hundred off the logs bill and it all went in his education pot. That money is more than money. It is actual shivering, working through all sorts of lurgies (the joys of freelancing), wearing clothes that are at least 10 years old and fucking meal planning to fruglaise the shopping bill. Which I hate. You try meal planning and shopping listing with ADHD. It SUCKS.

He has a vocational course he can only do this year, and there is no way he'll cope with that and an OU course and his job and his team. Which gives the OU one year to have a bit of a clean up, is that enough time to sort house for them ?

placemats · 11/09/2018 14:44

Goldsmiths college has a lot of 'mature' and overseas students.

Well done to Goldsmiths for posting the statement.

placemats · 11/09/2018 14:47

Quite frankly though, this incident should have been in the mainstream media. The tweets were shocking and abusive.

KeneftYakimoski · 11/09/2018 14:48

Interesting that Goldsmith SU are heading off the "oh, we wuz hacked" crap at the pass by going straight for "a student with access" (by implication, legitimate access).

placemats · 11/09/2018 14:49

I see the Daily Mail posted on it. Good!

Urbanbeetler · 11/09/2018 14:52

The twitter page is still there but it is locked down. You forgot the Q.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 11/09/2018 14:53

Made it to the Daily Mail.

I hope Goldsmiths can turn things around. I know they have in the past done good work on outreach to local schools, trying to increase take up of HE. New Cross is a very mixed area indeed, like most of SE London. It's great for the area to have a high profile, internationally known HEI. Not so great when it's become infamous rather than famous.

Urbanbeetler · 11/09/2018 14:54

Lily Madigan starts there this year. According to the student union statement, there will still be support in place for LGBTQ students even though the LBGTQ+gold soc has effectively been thrown out as an official student one.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/09/2018 14:54

not gone

Goldsmiths LGBT society says feminists should be sent to a gulag.
Urbanbeetler · 11/09/2018 14:57

There are some brilliant students and staff there. Like anything which is an establishment - like the members of MN - we do have to be wary of discounting an entire institution based on the behaviour of a few.

Tartle · 11/09/2018 14:57

Oh it'll be fun in the Goldsmith’s marketing office today!

Well done to the SU for taking proper action though. I wonder if the other students are getting fed up with the super woke?

placemats · 11/09/2018 15:00

Yesterday, Monday 10th September, a member of the LGBTQ+ Society with access to their Twitter account posted tweets containing offensive material. We condemn the abhorrent content of the tweets and they are in complete opposition to the views and values of the Students’ Union.

Offensive, abhorrent, in complete opposition is hardly 'inappropriate'

AngryAttackKittens · 11/09/2018 15:01

It's interesting that other than The Guardian and the BBC pretty much all major media outlets now seem to have removed their "don't publish anything that could be seen as not 100% supportive of trans activism" policies.

thecatfromjapan · 11/09/2018 15:05

Tartle

Do you think the Marketing department might resemble an episode of 'The Thick of It'?

I know it's wrong of me but I would love to be sat in the corner today, wearing a cloak if invisibility.

RedToothBrush · 11/09/2018 15:08

It's interesting that other than The Guardian and the BBC pretty much all major media outlets now seem to have removed their "don't publish anything that could be seen as not 100% supportive of trans activism" policies.

The BBC and Guardian sticking to it, now has the effect of looking like a 'Liberal Elite coverup' in the eyes of an increasing number of people. Which makes such a 100% positive trans policy totally counter productive in practice.

How long before the BBC and Guardian cotton on to this?

Urbanbeetler · 11/09/2018 15:09

Things are gradually changing I think, to present a more acceptable representation of people who have concerns about the crossover of human rights. A more even voice perhaps. It’s definitely incidents like this which are supporting that change.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 11/09/2018 15:21

According to the student union statement, there will still be support in place for LGBTQ students even though the LBGTQ+gold soc has effectively been thrown out as an official student one.

And so there should be. Hopefully one that remembers to give a bit of love and support to the LGB as well as the TQ.
