Goldsmiths, home of witch hunting transwoman Natasha Kennedy needs to sort itself out.

Last night they started harassing a load of 'T*rfs' on Twitter and then today they suggested they might like to spend some time in a gulag - before going on to write a rather long, propaganda piece in their defense.

I didn't think leftists like this actually existed.

Is this a real account?

I highly recommend Anne Applebaum's book about the feminist reedu-, sorry, actual gulags, in which loads (millions) of people died miserably whilst separated from their families for thoughtcrime.
Seconded. Brilliant book.

arranfan · 11/09/2018 20:52

Add me to the people recommending Applebaum's Gulag history. However, Jung Chan's Wild Swans is also wrenching for its insights into 're-education'.

On balance, I'm not sure which is the more harrowing.

Another good 'gulag' read: Half of Man Is Woman by Zhang Xianliang
Cultural Revolution.Wink Life and Fate by Vassily Grossman, is great on the incremental little steps that fascism takes before it reaches its full force.

If you found wild swans interesting did you ever read a mothers ordeal?

No, I didn't. Is it similarly harrowing? Would you recommend it?

ToeToToe · 11/09/2018 21:43

Me too. I read it when everyone was reading it (how the hell many years ago was that? Loads!)

I am really concerned about the extremes in our politics at the moment - far left vs far right. We've got the chaos of brexit coming up - it feels so dangerous.

Yet another round of praise to @CesiraAndEnrico 's sceptical-hero, Andy Lewis aka MN's own @lecanardnoir who has a fine thread up on Twitter:

Shout out to all the sceptics who unfollowed me, blocked me, told me I was a jerk for being sceptical of an ideology that is now telling us women need to be sent to gulags for the crime of thinking women are an objective, material reality.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/09/2018 22:28

Yes it is and i would

Its basically about chinas one child policy by an abortionist...it goes from her childhood up to her working and slightly beyond

Its a true story and it is harrowing

Absolutely fascinating childhood and youth

I've read a few biogs of women during the Chinese cultural revolution (I had a theme going for a while and found it fascinating). Two were: Life and Death in Shanghai, Nien Cheng and Red Azalia, Anchee Min.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/09/2018 22:44

Im fairly positive ive read red azalea

Lysistrataknowsherstuff · 11/09/2018 23:01

Wild Swans came out in around 1992 - I read while I was still at primary school as my mother had bought it and I needed a book to review. Wonder what the teacher actually thought when she got a child's interpretation of the Cultural Revolution.

Grange Hill was inappropriate but reading Wild Swans was ok according to my mother Confused

AsAProfessionalFekko · 12/09/2018 07:03

Rufus - it was about the actress who was picked to try out for the Red Azalea character in the Chinese propaganda films.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 12/09/2018 07:28

Yes, definitely read it

I dont think ive read the shanghi one...i might have a little look

I can only imagine the disappointment he must feel having seen the skeptics fold and cower. How they went from Chiropractors V Simon Singh to this shitshow is beyond me.

Andy is right. TRA Mythology should have been bread and butter debunking for the Skeptic crew. They failed. They were cowards. How are people supposed to trust their "reason and rationality" now ? They are as bias ridden and earnings focused regardless of cost to others as the snake oil salesmen they made their name critising and exposing.

Fuck them. Their feet of clay are so obvious there are sticky footprints all over the place.

KeneftYakimoski · 12/09/2018 07:39

And in the twitter replies to that article, it's mostly men explaining to other men how the little ladies don't know what's good for them.

OvaHere · 12/09/2018 07:41

This story has caught the attention of Tim Pool. He's a centre left US journalist/vlogger who is very anti communism. He's done a few videos in the past on other trans stories that have hit the news.

TerfsUp · 12/09/2018 07:47

Oh look, there appears to be an opening for a new person to lead the LGBTQ+ group at Goldsmiths.....

How much do you want to bet that the successful candidate will look like a bloke?

BlackeyedSusan · 12/09/2018 07:49

was mentioned in "the papers" on Today R4

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 12/09/2018 08:06

I'm not surprised they want to send women to forced labour camps. Between sitting on twitter all day and getting dolled up, there's not much time for putting the bin out or a bit of hoovering. Somebody has take granny to the doctor and feed the cat - and I'm pretty sure it won't be the privileged males of the TRA movement doing any of the work.

CesiraAndEnrico · 12/09/2018 08:08

He is on fine form in the comments too.
