Sorry, I mentioned this on another post today, but it stayed with me because I find it very disturbing.

Trawling through the posts of our favourite women's officer earlier (to find a comment or apology on Karen White-surprise! There was none) I found this thread offering to retweet anyone asking for financial support for surgery or other financial assistance.

Aside from the fact that most of these were in the US and therefore a little removed from the vicinity of Rochester (which might, arguably, be Lily's first concern), many of these people were very young, some had been abused and some had clear mental health concerns.

Lily wasn't asking for better MH provision or shelters for abused teens as any decent person would. Lily was asking for people to scan the smiley photos and desperate begging letters of very vulnerable people and offer them cash - presumably for solely altruistic reasons.

Lilly, apparently, thinks this is a "feminist issue" . I do too, but not for the same reasons.

I really, really don't understand this. There are some very clearly vulnerable people in that thread. I think the euphemisms are what probably make my flesh creep. All the young women who want 'top surgery', and especially the slightly petulant one who has parents who could 'definitely help me if they wanted' but are so anti-trans. On the one hand it is clearly an emotionally troubled young person at least, and on the other it's basically someone from a background of privilege having a tantrum because they haven't got their own way.

But seriously? What kind of aspiring politician posts a thread for people to beg for surgery cash? One who also posts begging for people to give them clothes, I suppose.

Not for the first time, I find myself feeling very sorry for Lily, and I kind of understand why the handmaidens flock to soothe Lily. LM does exude a kind of naïve, childish rebellious air which betrays their lack of any useful incisive political skill and makes them come across as much younger than they are. Sort of like a fragile, brittle doll with a mean streak.

Some young souls ripe for exploitation - which is being actively promoted by a politician in a manner that clearly suggests that the politician is in need of help too.

So where is the duty of care in the labour party? And why is the local group happy for this to happen?

Well yes. The issue isn't really with Lily. It is squarely with wtf the Labour Party think they are doing.

The Labour party is beyond parody at this point. It's headed up by a man who couldn't lead anyone round a desk, and is so riven with slogan obsessed divisive loons that it can't mount an effective opposition to one of the most rubbish governments I can recall in my lifetime.
The fact that they are still happy to pat Madigan on the head as a potentially useful pawn for some undefined coming future socialist paradise that Magic Grandpa is going to usher in by force of charisma is just testament to the football chant that keeps running through my head whenever I read about politics these days.

It is an absolute travesty that Anne Ruyzlo is not still in this post. Madigan is being exploited cruelly. Awful situation. Needs humanity and common sense to sort this one.

Isn't there a US trans billionaire who has promised to fund surgery for any trans person that wants it?

Doesn't the Labour Party have rules on this kind of behaviour? Not to mention Lily's constant promises to do bike rides, or volunteer for a DV charity, which never materialise.

At lunchtime I saw Vince Cable interviewed. He said disaffected labour members should join the Lib Dem’s as they are the party of ‘common sense’. I’m still laughing.

It's a feminist issue in that young girls who reject feminine stereotyping are trying to raise money for irreversible surgery under the delusion that they must be male.

But Lily thinks it's feminist to promote it.

IAmLurkacus, I find myself laughing sardonically at every news bulletin and current affairs programme. Labour, the LibDems, the Greens, all a complete shower. The Tories are atrocious right now. It should be a slam dunk every day. No wonder May is dancing about all over the world. She should be a dead woman walking, and she's having a ball. Bloody ridiculous.

One’s posting that every time they get near their target for whatever treatment it is they want, a bill comes along and blows a hole in their fundraising.

Sorry. I shan't derail further. But Lily is a microcosm of the bigger political picture to me - the gullible and vulnerable being exploited and promoted by the gullible and vulnerable higher up, who is in turn being exploited by others who have no idea what they are doing and haven't noticed they are driving into a ditch and wouldn't care if they did.

Lily is obviously charismatic and with more than a streak of egotism and narcissim which allows and pushes her to seek the public eye. My main gripe is that she has done bugger all for women while being a woman's officer that I can see. I did ask what she was working on but got no response.

It's why I feel so queasy about Lily (and Aimee before). They are a toxic influence in politics. But they are also young, naive, vulnerable and exploited. So although they are often obnoxious, the strings are being pulled by those who should know better.

I feel that this is a clear case of damaged youth being thrown in the path of further damage by an elected officer. Lily is either a competent adult and should see this is wrong or a competent adult elsewhere in Labour should be looking to deal with Lily.

I saw that LM is going to California to meet with LGBT acitivists. Not quite sure why LM is wasting LM's time doing that rather than concerning themselves with proper womens issues.

LM also tweeting that LM is hoping to start hormones. So nowhere near any kind of meaningful transition. yet of course god forbid we're allowed to refer to LM by any pronoun which might misgender LM

LM apologised a few times in the thread, quoted American stats for prisoners and really didn't seem to have a clue. You described it very well. The feeling I get is LM is very lost and outa depth. I mean really Labour should have got rid of LM ages ago.

Can you imagine if any other women's officer had tweeted that women getting sexually assaulted after they were locked up in a prison with a rapist as transphobia. Jesus wept.

It's not true that Lily has done nothing for women.

Lily announced a while back that Lily was doing a sponsored bike ride for a women's refuge and people gave sponsorship money.

I'm sure the people who say it was just for show after Lily has done exactly bugger all for women must be mistaken.

And those who keep asking where the money actually went to, or for any evidence of an actual bike ride, must be just trouble makers. That's why Lily blocks them instead of just letting people know what happened to the money, surely?

LM is doing things for the ladies. I think they are collecting San pro for those in period poverty . I shan’t sate my views on that coz it would be a ban for sure

Actually I wanted to ask why LM was posting that trans people face more restrictions to marriage. Can’t pretty much any two consenting, non-related adults get married at this point?
