So happy this is out there now in brighton particularly as I was told by my infant school child that he learnt at school that boys can also be girls

Clicky link.

That is an excellent article.

Wanderabout · 01/09/2018 10:09

This is excellent.

VickyEadie · 01/09/2018 10:11

I still find myself astonished that the crap in the Allsorts/Mermaids/etc "guidance" wasn't immediately thrown in the bin as appalling nonsense in the first place.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 01/09/2018 10:14

Great article. I am ready and primed if the Allsorts kit omes to a school near me.

heresyandwitchcraft · 01/09/2018 10:17

Nice article Helen!!!!! Thank you!!! Star

LangCleg · 01/09/2018 10:17

Thanks, Helen, for writing this and getting the Argus to publish. Always a voice of sanity.

gendercritter · 01/09/2018 10:18

Fabulous article

hackmum · 01/09/2018 10:33

Helen Saxby is always good. Really pleased the Argus gave her a platform.

Some interesting comments

There is a Parliamentary petition running which has been openly described by supporters of it to be an attempt to prevent the Transgender Trend Schoolkit being allowed in school.
My understanding is that a previously similarly intentioned petition was not allowed but that 'with advice' on wording, this one has been accepted:

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/226793

Ban Anti-LGBTQ+ material from schools.

There has been a recent influx of anti-LGBT+ material being sent to schools in England. We are asking that any and all material, that is first and foremost designed to give a negative view of the LGBT+ community, be removed from schools.
More details

Examples of how such material can be shown to be anti-LGBT+:
• they recommend conversion therapy.
• they scaremonger about conditions that are not legally recognised as clinical or medical conditions.
• they encourage school staff to break equality laws as stated in the EA2010.
• they give false information regarding the legally available treatment for transgender youth in the UK."

Funny that in the original it is always girls who have to move and make room for boys.

The usual suspects commenting and crying transphobia, just because it is pointed out girls have sex based rights, no one has gender based rights (yet).

drradfem · 01/09/2018 11:53

I've tried to report that comment with my name but I'm not sure it went through

ToeToToe · 01/09/2018 12:17

Is the article at risk of being protested so much it could be taken down?

Perhaps we should archive it.

I might print it out so I have something well-written and concrete to show to my children's schools, if I need to, in the future.

LemonJello · 01/09/2018 12:48

Excellent article.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/09/2018 13:02

I thought this comment will go a long way towards peak transing a few more folk:

Here's the problem. Transgirls are not boys. They don't simply "identify" as girls, although that is a common shorthand for a complex issue, they are girls

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 01/09/2018 15:48

I'm surprised by how many of the comments are gender critical. Not so long ago every comment would have been along the lines of "these evil terfs want to torture transkids to death" without anyone daring to challenge the lies.

NameChangedAgain18 · 01/09/2018 15:55

Is anyone able to report posts (I’ve tried to, but can’t)? Someone (probably the person using Venice’s name to post under, but now deleted) is using Anne Ruzlyo’s name now.

NameChangedAgain18 · 01/09/2018 15:58

And Posie Parker’s.

IHateHouseworkWithAPassion · 01/09/2018 16:00

They are such cowards

Ereshkigal · 01/09/2018 16:08

And obsessed with silencing women.

Datun · 01/09/2018 16:18

Those comments. It makes them look utterly ridiculous.

Do they not understand that people simply aren't this stupid? They're just not.

Unfounded accusations, repeated over and over makes a person sound unhinged.

All the recommendations to read the pack and decide for yourself makes that person look rational.

And as for posing as gender critical feminists? That just looks like fifth form bullying.

Ereshkigal · 01/09/2018 16:25

Do they not understand that people simply aren't this stupid? They're just not.

They think the whole world works like Twitter or Facebook.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/09/2018 16:49

Wasn't the Argus the paper which was 'called out' by the 'Dr' Liam bloke, re a piece on Kathleen Stock?

iamawoman · 01/09/2018 17:04

Just read the comments - virtually all are gc apart from the narrow minded, happy to shame schoolgirls in changing rooms name changing commenter who probably works for all sorts. Hope the heads of schools are made aware of this and think twice about anything from that misguided organisation

OP posts:
IHateHouseworkWithAPassion · 01/09/2018 17:20

I'm afraid that is unlikely just yet. Allsorts are the only organisation offering training in Brighton area and so schools are paying for Allsorts to train staff in transgender awareness. Allsorts also offer gender identity workshops to kids. This is a big money maker for Allsorts. Until schools are offered a sensible alternative they will continue to employ Allsorts. They think they are doing the right thing.
