www.heraldscotland.com/news/12766853.The_Child_Sex_Scandal_On_The_Streets_Of_Scotland/

This has been going on for years. Every now and then there is another article written or another news report, like there was on Scottish news last night.

The police know about it
The social workers know about it
The Children's panel know about it
The press know about it
The politicians know about it
The people of Glasgow know about it
The people of Govanhill see it evry day and many continue to report it, but yet nothing happens.
This is Nicola Sturgeon's constituency

It's Rotherham all over again, except here these children are often being sold by their own parents. Parents who do not care if their daughters skip school, because they are girls. Girls are referred to the Children's panel, but the parents don't attend, because they don't care. They see no point in sending girls to school, educating girls. Girls are only good for one thing. And they are sold in the streets of Glasgow.

It's a scandal that this is happening in plain sight.

This is the Government who are proposing NAMED PERSON legislation, where every child in Scotland will have a named person who can intervene and overrule a parent's authority. This authoritarian proposal is being pushed as 'progressive'. Yet the authorities will not take actions against parents who are clearly neglecting, abusing and prostituting their children NOW. The government has that power now and they are choosing not to take action.

The Scottish Government is a disgrace. They come up with all manner of 'progressive' proposals yet they allow the rape of children on the streets of Glasgow.

This is so awful. When I first clicked on the thread I thought it was an old thread that had been revived as I have read this in MN before almost word for word. How sad is that?
Lessons will be learned - by young girls and women who will learn that they are worthless - by abusers and trafficers who will learn that young girls and women are worthless and so they can get away with it.
Makes me sick to my stomach.

TheQueef · 01/09/2018 19:16

It's scandalous.
The authorities are complicit because their fear of a racist label and the slum like pockets the Roma live in prevents integration and encourages closed communities.

How many of these girls have been handed over to their future pimp in good faith by parents believing they would work as a nanny etc. There will be all sorts never even investigated because of sensitivities.

Fuck that. We need a better way of doing things so children are protected. It's time to put larger sentences and a massive cash boost into making this priority one.

Etino · 01/09/2018 19:38

Seriously @Gronky 🙄😡
Utter bollocks. Of course we can judge the parents. No one in Britain has to chose between prostituting their children and eating, even if you have no recourse to public funds there are soup kitchens, food banks, community kitchens etc.
They’re not doing it for the price of a tin of beans.

Gronky · 01/09/2018 19:46

I was talking about parents in Slovakia, the ones shown in littlbrowndog's video.

I don't care. My comment stands.

Wauden · 01/09/2018 20:42

I too would like to know what the Guardian thinks is more sinister than selling your child to be raped.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/09/2018 21:24

The Guardian is a shitty rag now. I so sick of this decadent acceptance of all the extreme edges of men’s sexual wants. I cried reading that account. That little girl ,around the age of my little girl so it is painful to imagine the smallness and vulnerability of these children.
I honestly think if I wasn’t married to someone truly lovely I would fucking hate men now. I am so sick of their porn, their “kinks” , their treatment of women and children. I grew up thinking men who abuse children were vanishingly rare. That isn’t true is it ? They really are everywhere.
Years ago I posted on here about a local man I had a gut feeling about. I really did not like the way he was with my then very tiny daughters. I had an absolute roasting. I was told I was obviously the sort of paranoid nutcase who sees a paedophile behind every tree. Actually he was the only man I’d ever worried about around my daughters. Now I think I wasn’t worried enough.
“Balloon” Challendor and the shame of the response from the GP, the Guardian, the BBC. The way women are treated for wanting to keep single sex spaces and safeguard children. I am SICK OF IT ALL. I’m actually going to have a stiff drink, I feel quite broken by this , thinking of those little children failed by everyone.
Thank you op for bringing this to people’s attention.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/09/2018 21:26

*Baloo, not balloon, obv.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 01/09/2018 21:37

Vix I know exactly what you mean

SlothSlothSloth · 01/09/2018 21:56

Unfortunately we will always have paedophilia and CSA as long as we have men.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/09/2018 22:21

WHY is the sexual abuse of little children this commonplace? What is wrong with these men that they see a tiny child and instead of feeling moved and wanting to take care of it, like a decent human being, their feelings are how much they want to rape that child ?
And how have we been driven back to a situation where a ten year old girl is raped in broad daylight in Glasgow and that isn’t front page news ? It is utterly heartbreaking.
To the pp who said that when school starts women turn up with new babies, what is happening there then ?

FermatsTheorem · 01/09/2018 22:31

SirVix - I'm guessing what they mean is that girls in their early teens, having been sexually abused and trafficked, get pregnant, then the resulting babies are passed off as belonging to a woman in the next generation up within the family. So the adult woman, who should have been noticeably pregnant in July when school broke up, shows up with a newborn which is purportedly hers in September.

(It was a relatively common method of dealing with pregnancies outside marriage back in the 40s and 50s - happened within my family, albeit not due to abuse, happened to a relative who was in her twenties when her fiance died in an accident leaving her pregnant. I was in my 40s before I discovered the woman I'd always thought was my aunt's youngest sister was in fact my cousin.)

SirVixofVixHall · 01/09/2018 22:38

Fermatstheorem .i hadn’t thought of that, the girls getting pregnant. Sad . This is all so distressing to read.
Where in Wales is this happening ?

thenightsky · 01/09/2018 23:07

SirVixofVixHall Agree 100% with your post. The bastards are everywhere. NAMALT means nothing really.

PutItAwayDear · 01/09/2018 23:12

Oh god it's fucking horrific, I don't even know how to find words for it all.

Those poor girls Sad

And why the fuck is it not headline news? That's the fucking racism, that it's just ignored because they're only Roma girls so who gives a fuck? It's not fucking racism to bring it into the open and demand action!

This is the sort of shit that completely disconnects me from my left wing roots. I've been as left as they come my whole life and now I find myself going WAIT WHAT NO at so much of the bullshit the current left spouts. It's very uncomfortable for me and leaves me lying awake at night sometimes trying to work out what the actual fuck is happening.

Sorry for multiple fucks. I'm outraged and exhausted.

BraveAndStunning · 01/09/2018 23:30

I remember a friends husband was offered a child of about 12 when his taxi stopped at the lights by a Roma and that was maybe 5 years ago. It’s definitely going on and I cannot understand why nothing has been done !

PenelopeFlintstone · 02/09/2018 03:26

Is it racism? Is it that the authorities don't care because the kids are Roma? I don't think so. I think it's because it will uncover that the parents and other family are doing this and then what do the authorities do? Take away all the kids? (I would) and then you end up with a Stolen Generation issue. It's the same reason they didn't take away the kids in the Australian Northern Territory a few years ago.

Flashingbeacon · 02/09/2018 04:24

I’m up through the night with other worries but I can’t get my mind of those wee boys and girls.
Is there anything we can do? I mean literally do, middle aged worn out mothers who can’t understand why there government isn’t raining down hell on this situation?
I have no idea how to go about it but can we be a visible presence taking photographs of this and presenting it to the police and council everyday? Can make it impossible to ignore somehow. If people are reporting it, which they say they are can we get a rota so that someone is there all the time and all the time reporting? Can we just give these children living in hell hope that there are adults who are just out to abuse them?

SlothSlothSloth · 02/09/2018 08:49

Having read the article, I’m having some doubts about this. The article doesn’t actually mention any new evidence. The only evidence is the eyewitness account about the girl and the car battery. This battery story is also mentioned in this article from last year as a story that’s been “doing the rounds” in the area: www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/15683341.Catriona_Stewart__Govanhill_s_Roma_deserve_more_respect_than_these_rumours/

Surely this is why the police aren’t acting - because theres still nothing but hearsay to go on?

I do believe Roma culture (though not every Roma person of course) in general values women and girls far less than men and boys, and violence against women and girls is even more commonplace in Roma society than it is in white British society. Roma also tend to be extremely poor. These two facts together, plus the general eagerness of men of all ethnic backgrounds to exploit vulnerable children, do make the story highly plausible. I’m not saying it’s not true. But facts at the moment seem a bit thin on the ground.

SlothSlothSloth · 02/09/2018 08:53

I agree with PP who think the idea that the police aren’t investigating for fear of being seen as racist is bollocks. If the police really aren’t investigating heavily - which we don’t know - I’m sure it’s because they think CSA is far too big a problem for them to tackle, and in any case they view Roma girls as somewhat disposable.

SlothSlothSloth · 02/09/2018 09:02

Also just to offer (some, not much) reassurance to those who are worried nothing is being done - I just found the twitter of the journo who wrote the second article I linked, about the rumours. According to the tweets in the image arrests have been made - though still unclear if these are definitely related to child rape for money in the Roma community? But they may be. Something for us to keep an eye on.

CesiraAndEnrico · 02/09/2018 10:19

I had a hunch this would be Roma children before I clicked the link.

It's not just Scotland. It's a long ignored, but visible issue over on this side of the alps too.

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 02/09/2018 10:26

I hate when people say it's fear of racism stopping police from acting. If they were so worried about being anti PC they'd be jumping in there to stop immigrant children from being trafficked and raped. Hmm Surely it's more offensive to everyone to have an actual (minority) child be raped than to put someone who happens to be from a minority group in prison?

The truth is there are too few resources and that some of the people abusing will have power which is why no one is stopping this. Same with Saville, same with always.

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 02/09/2018 10:27

and in any case they view Roma girls as somewhat disposable.

Yes.
