Starts off promising, then segues into trans apologia and mealy-mouthed justifications why she hasn’t taken further action

AC has just been suspended from the Greens pending investigation from outside of the party.

AC to release statement later today

WomblingWoman · 31/08/2018 15:49

RTB has just posted a twitter thread from Pigrim Tucker on the other GP thread.

It's worth a read. Apparently all the GP reps responsible for internal comms identify as trans/non binary.

twitter.com/pilgrimtucker/status/1035502631232458753?s=21

"Molly Arthurs, Lee-Anne Lawrance & Tom Pashby job-share the role of “Internal Communications Co-ordinator” on the Green Party Executive (GPEx). All three identify as “non-binary”, and call themselves “they”. The GPEx is “responsible for the day to day running of the party” 2/6"

thecatfromjapan · 31/08/2018 15:56

Wasn't Molly the one in the email saying she couldn't do anything if she was given a false name?

I wonder if she's prepared to take a fall for this?

Did someone tell AC to give DC a false name?

Did AC, seriously - given she's 20 and not a skilled operator - never, ever mention the charges, even conversationally, to close friends?

Given her mother (a would-be councillor and fellow GP member) was posting all over Facebook about it?

Given Coventry Pride Knew?

And did the police not inform the GP? And the GP comms team (internal or external) not heat of it?

arranfan · 31/08/2018 15:59

Not on FB and never have been (that's possibly more unintentionally outing than I realise :) ) - but if AC was a friend of TC on FB and TC was posting about it, how plausible is it that AC had no idea etc.? Setting aside the issue of AC as a Coventry Pride Trustee?

thecatfromjapan · 31/08/2018 16:02

I find it pretty incredible that no other Green Party members would have been FB friends, arranfan

RedToothBrush's post from other thread:

Pilgrim Tucker @pilgrimtucker
THREAD:
Why has there been such a shockingly poor response from the Green Party to #AimeeChallenor crisis? Maybe the fact that all their internal communication representatives on GP Executive Committee are transgender (non-binary) trans activists has something to do with it.? 1/6
Molly Arthurs, Lee-Anne Lawrance & Tom Pashby job-share the role of “Internal Communications Co-ordinator” on the Green Party Executive (GPEx). All three identify as “non-binary”, and call themselves “they”. The GPEx is “responsible for the day to day running of the party” 2/6
So the people who control internal comms at the #Greens also control the narrative re the important Qs raised by the #Challenor crisis. This may explain why @CarolineLucas’s article failed to understand the sex-based exemptions in the Equality Act, or engage with concerns 3/6
According to the @TheGreenParty website, Aimee Challenor still retains a seat on their Executive Committee as the “Publications Co-ordinator”. With the three “non-binary” reps, far from being under represented in the Green Party, trans people seem almost over represented. 4/6
Some say there’s a trans activist take-over of political parties, allowed by gullible virtue signallers. Activists like Aimee & Lily Madigan get into positions of power then do little but undermine the rights of women & girls. Certainly Aimee rarely tweeted on climate change 5/6
All political parties must ensure they aren’t being used in a political war to erode the sex-based rights of 52% of their electorate & must ensure their trans reps& members are not above challenge or criticism. Also they must listen & engage with women’s concerns, not dismiss 6/6

You might also notice that Aimee Challenor's twitter handle now appears to be simply @aimeechallenor

pachyderm · 31/08/2018 16:03

I've looked up those three young people, they are two women and a man. All present as the sex that they are, no ambiguity whatsoever. I despair. What the fuck is their investment in destroying safeguarding for the vulnerable? Non binary my arse.

hackmum · 31/08/2018 16:10

I wonder why they've suspended Aimee now? Presumably it's the result of the backlash against yesterday's article by Lucas, with people pointing out precise details of all the things Aimee had done wrong. Which Lucas could have found out herself before writing the article if she'd had a mind to.

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 31/08/2018 16:11

That Pilgrim Tucker thread is quite something. Goodness me.

BettyDuMonde · 31/08/2018 16:13

I hope TC has also been suspended pending investigation (of standing as a councillor while disqualified due to a recent criminal charge) and access to the membership data has been revoked...

arranfan · 31/08/2018 16:18

I find it pretty incredible that no other Green Party members would have been FB friends, arranfan

^^ Given the size of the GP presence in Coventry you are right - it would be surprising if a reasonable percentage of them were not following DC, TC etc. In which case, many more questions than answers and we need to know that the independent investigator/s have the scope to make enquiries about that and that people are instructed to cooperate with those enquiries.

Midnight21 · 31/08/2018 16:18

A tweet about silencing memebers & some dodgy project containg kids playing with sex toys posted by AC.Also @FatherBBrennan collated the info various women had compiled www.greenparty.org.uk/news/2018/08/31/green-party-announces-independent-investigation-and-no-fault-suspension-of-aimee-challenor/
Tweeted to CL last evening.

Floisme · 31/08/2018 16:24

I know I keep saying this but I'm far less interested in Aimee Challenor than I am in whether other Green Party members knew about the charges facing DC and kept quiet. That's the really explosive stuff.

NameChangedAgain18 · 31/08/2018 16:28

I wonder why they've suspended Aimee now? Presumably it's the result of the backlash against yesterday's article by Lucas, with people pointing out precise details of all the things Aimee had done wrong

One could be forgiven for thinking that Lucas could scarcely have tried any harder, in that statement, to provoke the public.

R0wantrees · 31/08/2018 16:31

Caroline Lucas in Guardian today:
"I have faced many calls for immediate action against Aimee – calls that fail to understand the very limited powers I have as a party co-leader and that assume I would be prepared to ditch the fundamental right to due process and a fair hearing. Justice and truth must not be further victims of David Challenor’s crimes and nor must trans people’s rights."

Aimee Challoner Oct 2017 statement to Westminster committee on standards in public life:
"With respect to the Green Party, there is an executive, and a regional committee. We can recall leadership if they are bringing the Party into disrepute. There have been no difficulties with Caroline Lucas or our other Spokespeople."

MsMcWoodle · 31/08/2018 16:32

Can't see her status cos I'm blocked. [big grin]

HuffPost article January 13th 2017 by Aimee Challenor
"Three years ago, when I was sixteen years old, I took a huge step in my life: I went to prom. I went to prom, like hundreds of thousands of school leavers that year, and, just like so many others, I wore a dress to prom. That's how I came out as transgender to my conservative private secondary school.

Three years is both a very short time and an eternity. In those three years, I've grown, I've become a trustee of Coventry Pride, a registered charity, and been involved in organising our local LGBT+ celebration since 2015. I joined the Green Party, was elected chair of LGBTIQA+ Greens, and now find myself the equalities spokesperson for the party. I've grown. I've progressed. I've achieved. I am still growing."
www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/aimee-challenor/trans-children-who-knows-best_b_14143156.html

28th August 2018 Coventry Pride Statement:
"Mr [David] Challenor volunteered for the Charity in 2015 and 2016 he assisted with event set up and take down, and designing some posters and leaflets. The Trustees were made aware of criminal proceedings being taken against Mr Challenor in November 2016. A directive was issued to those responsible for volunteer recruitment that Mr Challenor was not to be accepted as a volunteer at the Charity’s events and if he attended public events organised by the Charity he was monitored by the trustees. Mr Challenor no longer has any links with the Charity."

Andrew Gilligan tweet yesterday:
"This, by Coventry Pride, is really tricky for Aimee Challenor. She was a trustee at the time (Nov 2016) when the trustees were "made aware of criminal proceedings being taken against [her father]" and banned him. But she still used him as her agent in 2017 and 2018 elections".

theOtherPamAyres · 31/08/2018 16:40

I keep hearing the words "the police should have told the Green Party about the GP Coventry HQ being a crime scene".

Er...... no. There are laws about what the police can and cannot disclose and to whom. Police officers get sacked when they get it wrong.

YouGov Guidance for trustees of charities:
(extract)
"When you and your co-trustees make decisions about your charity, you must:

act within your powers
act in good faith, and only in the interests of your charity
make sure you are sufficiently informed, taking any advice you need
take account of all relevant factors you are aware of
ignore any irrelevant factors
deal with conflicts of interest and loyalty
make decisions that are within the range of decisions that a reasonable trustee body could make in the circumstances
You should record how you made more significant decisions in case you need to review or explain them in the future."

And the rest of your above post R0wantrees are shocking. Utterly shocking.

Does anyone have a list of the best order to read the AC/GP threads in? My friends aren’t MN users in general and are getting a bit lost with the back and forth.

EverardDigby · 31/08/2018 17:25

I find it pretty incredible that no other Green Party members would have been FB friends

Nah, I wouldn't be surprised if no one wanted to be friends with them Grin

EverardDigby · 31/08/2018 17:27

One could be forgiven for thinking that Lucas could scarcely have tried any harder, in that statement, to provoke the public.

It did fleetingly occur to me that it might have been tactical, but surely she would have known the effect it would have had on her personally.
