We are different

Is it wrong if me to feel like there are differences between men and women and that's what makes us human?

Aside from equal pay debate (I believe same job, same pay) and similar- I do believe that there are inherent, natural differences between men and women. But it doesn't seem ok to think this or say it anymore?!

I also feel like a lot of 'feminists' use that umbrella to man- bash. Don't get me wrong, I have known a good few awful men, I've also known a good few awful women. We can't tar everyone with the same brush?!

Thoughts?

Dont be silly

Exactly. It's not in the slightest bit difficult to fathom !

LastOneDancing · 24/08/2018 23:27

plenty of wolf whistling knuckle draggers but they don't hate women

Wtf do you think the wolf whistling does? Excite and pleases and makes women feel loved? No mate. It scares and intimidates.
Because either they don't like women very much; or don't consider them actual people but objects of amusement.

And all that 'other men as protectors against other men against the men because men so women are wrong' makes literally no sense.

sociopathsunited · 24/08/2018 23:28

What's the consensus on pancakes as a breakfast food? Yay or nay?

LastOneDancing · 24/08/2018 23:28

I should not have read this thread before bed in my current state on the new RadFem curve...

sociopathsunited · 24/08/2018 23:33

Has everyone on here heard of the legendary Aberdeen buttery (aka the Rowie)? It is, quite literally, the most violent thing you can do to your cholesterol levels bar eating butter straight from the tub. And, naturally, so sickeningly delicious that you decide a heart attack would be worth it.

AngryAttackKittens · 24/08/2018 23:33

Nor hand lotion either, Lang.

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 24/08/2018 23:36

Now just hang the fuck on for a fucking minute.....

Piccalilli vodka?

What the?

Wilhamenawonka · 24/08/2018 23:36

Those look amazing. I've gone off all day breakfasts very very recently so need a replacement heart attack on a plate

sociopathsunited · 24/08/2018 23:42

I freeze them as soon as I buy them. Otherwise I'd kill myself over a week with a pack of six....

Fabricwitch · 24/08/2018 23:50

No-one really butters they're Weetabix, do they? That was a joke, right? Envy (not jealous)

tiredandweary · 24/08/2018 23:51

You lot are brilliant Grin

Off to dream of buttered weetabix, picallili vodka with bakewell tart porridge for breakfast.
Flowers all round.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 24/08/2018 23:58

Banana or blueberry pancakes? I'll take either.

The closest I get to cake for breakfast is warm cheese & onion scones.

terryleather · 25/08/2018 00:06

Butteries are absolutely fucking delicious: fat, salt & carbs in a perfect ratio of lushness - they would defeat the Weetabix Banana Horror in a breakfast goods' fight to the death!

bourbonbiccy · 25/08/2018 00:31

Lastonedancing thats quite a sweeping statement, I don't feel scared or intimidated by wolf whistling, however it doesn't make me think, wow I bet he/she's a catch either, as I have been wolf whistled at by a woman when I was on a night out.
Getting back to your origin post which has somewhat been high jacked by the looks of it, Op there are obvious differences between the 2 sexes, I think it's how you define those differences.

The stereo type is men shouldn't show their feelings, so some men bottle them up, then they explode as they aren't equipped in how to display them in an acceptable way.
The stereotype is women should nurture as that is what has always happened. Yes these stereotypes still exist and are probably still accurate to a lot of people in that pigeon hole.
But that's not always the case, I know some very emotional men and I know some very "unmaternal" mothers- but people do still loose it when these stereotypes are mentioned. You can no longer use these gender stereotypes as people get fiercely defensive on how this is the reason for societies failings

thebewilderness · 25/08/2018 00:55

Wut?

AllDayBreakfast · 25/08/2018 01:20

Still, I thank you for the sake of the lurkers for reminding us of how utterly impossible it is for most men to view women as people.

And men are often disposable. In fact, weren't prominent feminists at the time campaigning to lower the age of conscription to 16? These boys wouldn't have even been old enough to get the vote if they did somehow survive the trenches.

AllDayBreakfast · 25/08/2018 01:21

Nothing to do with misogyny. Just pointing out that some of our supposed 'male privilege' wasn't really much of a privilege at all for the everyday man.

Iused2BanOptimist · 25/08/2018 01:23

This sort of thing makes me feel very spoilt - I went to a girls only boarding school and when a new building was being built the head was having no nonsense and gave the builders a stern talking to - no wolf whistling, no talking to the girls and absolutely NO bare chests (it was summer).
We laughed then, but now I think she was ahead of her time.

FloralBunting · 25/08/2018 01:24

Oh go to bed you silly breakfast, or you'll never be up in time for us all to feel even less inclined to shift our attention on to the poor hard done by blokes of the world. God, I heard less whining from my puppy when I put him in his crate this evening.

Datun · 25/08/2018 01:30

Yes, I don't think you'll find many feminists agreeing with war either. Good to know you sympathise.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 25/08/2018 01:32

Ok, maybe it was a bit of a rant! But I find it difficult to fathom the hate so many posters on here seem to have for men

Nah, mr rough man, just for you at this point. But I'm taking suggestions.

Honestly, you sprout shite about women being handed democracy on a plate because they weren't allowed to go off and kill people (sorry Nancy Wake), and then wonder why immediate adulation isn't forthcoming?

AngryAttackKittens · 25/08/2018 01:35

God, I heard less whining from my puppy when I put him in his crate this evening

And the puppy is also cuter!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 25/08/2018 01:56

Men starting wars and sending our sons to die is women's... fault? Privilege?
All those women raped as a war tactic would love those soldiers to stay home too fyi.
Patriarchy harms men too, duh, but it's purpose is to subordinate women as a class under men as a class. Feminists fight to liberate women from patriarchy. You blokes are more than welcome to start a mascunists movement to liberate sub-classes of men from other sub-classes of men under patriarchy. Feminism is not about men nor for men, sorry not sorry.

DixieFlatline · 25/08/2018 03:10

For months DH ate porridge made with just water and salt at work because we needed to save money, while I not infrequently bought coffee and chocolate from 7-Eleven because I got up too late to have a decent breakfast and grab snacks from home. There’s a man making an effort for the greater good. May we all take a moment to honour his work.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 25/08/2018 03:20

I don't even like my rolled oats cooked. On the rare occasions I eat breakfast, I soak oats in hot water for a half hour or so, and eat with a bit of plain yoghurt. I'm not good in the morning, a cup of coffee is the best I can do before eleven.

I honour your husband DixieFlatline, but I put it to you, he was enjoying his plain porridge, really.

Ooh. Rowies look like a yeast-raised scone. I'm going to try them. Just not for breakfast.

Look at us with the feminising and the cooking. Almost like woman could care about more than one thing at a time.
