Conclusion
Rapid-onset gender dysphoria (ROGD) describes a phenomenon where the development of gender dysphoria is observed to begin suddenly during or after puberty in an adolescent or young adult who would not have met criteria for gender dysphoria in childhood. ROGD appears to represent an entity that is distinct from the gender dysphoria observed in individuals who have previously been described as transgender. The worsening of mental well-being and parent-child relationships and behaviors that isolate AYAs from their parents, families, non-transgender friends and mainstream sources of information are particularly concerning. More research is needed to better understand this phenomenon, its implications and scope.

I hope this brings ROGD into more public discourse.

The study, which was cautious, moderate and peer reviewed, is now under threat as Brown University wobbles:

There is an important point made at the first comment. Parents who are uncertain that their child's transgender identity is the root cause of their problems, and are therefore fearful of unwarranted irreversible physical changes cannot speak out publicly. We are reduced to participating anonymously in online forums.

We are being silenced.

Have signed the petition - this is really important for academic freedom apart from the subject matter. I can't believe this is happening in a free democracy. It's got just over 1800 names now.

I am a parent of a child who fulfils this criteria. Please sign this petition to help further research into this new phenomen. The historical diagnosis does not account for this sudden tween/ teen transgender identity. It was either a young non conforming child or a adult who possibly had something I can’t mention for fear of deletion. It starts with A though. The petition is to support Lisa littmans work where she asked parents their views on kids who do not fulfil the historical diagnostic procedure. These kids fell out with the usual diagnostic pattern. The research showed a new phenomenon. Even if it is proven wrong it still needs to be discussed. Personally , o believe it is not wrong but this should not be stifled. The petition is really important as it is the parents voice.
