This message from the other band member appeared on Facebook yesterday:

With heavy thoughts and hurting hearts, our collective has reached a consensus concerning very serious allegations against a highly regarded member of our group.

Geo String/ Vlad Blyat has engaged in a number of abusive actions against those he calls comrade. He has committed sexual assault, physical/verbal abuse, controlling/ manipulative behavior and he refuses to own his actions.

He was offered a path to restorative justice, but he again refused to acknowledge or respond to the allegations of abuse in a meaningful way.

This public outing of Geo/Vlad, as a rapist and serial abuser is the only option we were left with. He must be held accountable by the collective if he wont accept accountability on his own.

The included a line about bricking women in the teeth, and implying stamping on their heads.

Someone's written on their facebook page "So, let me get this straight. A man who advocated violence against women has been found to be perpetrating violence against women, and people are surprised?"

Well, exactly.

The idiots aren't calling the police on him though, as they don't believe in the police (as they're anarchists). Or - the man who broke this news says they won't anyway. I really hope the women he is accused of assaulting feel differently and go to the police.

"Restorative justice" seems to mostly mean "do nothing to help the victim, but in a way that allows the perp's friends to feel woke about it".

thebewilderness · 08/08/2018 21:43

What does offered a path to restorative justice even mean? Jeez, they really don't give a shit about women.

Churches, schools, businesses, all organizations like to keep criminal behavior inside the family by pretending it wasn't really a crime but just bad judgment, because it is bad for business. They encourage the cycle of sin an repentance. Perp admits what they did could be viewed as wrong, acts sad, apologize to victims and all members of the org, promise you will try to change. Victims are pressured to accept the repentance as genuine no matter how many times they have been through the wringer, er cycle.

Freespeecher · 08/08/2018 22:01

I appreciate it's not the main point here but 'abusive actions against those he calls comrade' is just bizarre wording.

Boys playing at being Red Guards.

AngryAttackKittens · 08/08/2018 22:14

Does rather suggest that abusing non-comrades would be fine, doesn't it?

HerFemaleness · 08/08/2018 22:18

It didn't really look any different from my earlier years of seeing moustachioed middle aged men picking on their perpetually worried looking wives and kids, pulling the "What will the neighbours think !" card to make sure they never got any ideas about putting a spanner in the works.

It reminds me of the attitude in some extremely conservative churches. I know a woman who was violently abused by her then husband. She was told by the wife of a leader in that church to not go to the police because that would be disrespectful to her husband, but to pray for him and submit more. The church leadership decided that they would be the ones to deal with this violent man, They took him out for coffee and listening to him cry about how he didn't mean it and he would try harder. Needless to say, it didn't get better, it got worse because she'd told people.

noeffingidea · 08/08/2018 22:26

I think the Duggars did this when it was discovered that their eldest son had been sexually abusing some of his sisters. They sent him off to some camp or other for counselling/prayer, and the girls were just meant to forgive and forget.

riiiiight · 08/08/2018 22:30

Does rather suggest that abusing non-comrades would be fine, doesn't it?

Well not as subtly as their music video, but I'd say so.

FloralBunting · 08/08/2018 22:31

Yep, very much the conservative Christian MO. I'm actually hopping mad about something related to that this evening but I will start another thread for that.

Beautifulday49 · 08/08/2018 22:31

Christ. Sick fucks.

UpstartCrow · 08/08/2018 22:34

What does 'restorative' mean?

Do they 'restore' anything to the victim?
Or is it a way of 'restoring' the perp to decent society?

Ereshkigal · 08/08/2018 22:41

Violent man finds a group of non compliant women who he can threaten violence against with impunity? Surely not!

LangCleg · 08/08/2018 22:50

Does rather suggest that abusing non-comrades would be fine, doesn't it?

Indeed. I saw no woketopian postings about restorative justice for any actual kerb stomping of uppity women.

CantankerousCamel · 08/08/2018 22:57

The prick who wrote the lyrics is still in the band.

Just seems like more of the incel bullshit

Gacapa · 08/08/2018 22:58

Piece of shit. Looked like psychopaths in the video.

Datun · 08/08/2018 23:16

woketopian postings

😆

thebewilderness · 08/08/2018 23:43

What does 'restorative' mean?

Let's pretend this never happened?

ReginaBlitzkreig · 09/08/2018 00:13

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

The Workers' Revolutionary Party split in 1985, because some members dared to expel then leader Gerry Healey for sexually assaulting over 26 female members. They expelled his many supporters too, including Corin and Vanessa Redgrave. She called all his accusers liars.

Now that socialism is out of fashion it seems doctrinaire men with unfortunate tendencies find other causes to rally around.

LighthouseSouth · 09/08/2018 00:22

I was once stupid enough to attend a meeting about restorative justice in schools

they didn't like me commenting that it was a great way to let bullies off their behaviour and said "no one should be defined by their behaviour".

as we were talking about children, I didn't pull out the Maya Angelou quote, but I did say "even if it's a child, eventually a number of incidents demonstrates a pattern of behaviour".

Years later, I now think of it as part of "spreading blame and refusing personal responsibility".

The thing that really freaked me out about the Stomp a TERF song was that they were so clearly overjoyed to find some sort of societal-legit excuse to be violent. There didn't seem to be anything theoretical about the song - it was totally and utterly something they were either already doing or planning on doing.

LighthouseSouth · 09/08/2018 00:25

oh and the emphasis is on the victim to show their attacker how much impact it has on them.

bit like victim impact statements in court - no fucking difference to anything, other than more trauma for the victim.

though in the context of this, I'm wondering if that's what they actually mean - they can't really be expecting his victims to do a talk and cry session can they???/

womensvoicesmatter · 09/08/2018 00:51

I'm going to post several images showing some of the homophobic hate directed to the women who protested at Pride, after the event.

Woke guy that did that "terfs are trash" song accused of sex crimes
womensvoicesmatter · 09/08/2018 00:51

Oops wrong thread!!

LighthouseSouth · 09/08/2018 01:09

well it's interesting that you posted that because

a) ugh

b) i just looked up that Tweeter and their timeline includes tweets that look supportive of the Glasgow Rape Crisis centre. Wasn't expecting to see sympathy there, have I misunderstood something?

thebewilderness · 09/08/2018 01:24

As I pointed out on the other thread, this creep in the screenshot has appropriated the legal name of a woman they have been targeting for over ten years.

WomblingWoman · 09/08/2018 02:23

The "funny" thing about TERF's are Trash when you listen to the "lyrics" is is all about women.

Nothing about men who are gender critical or members of the trans community the "so called truscum" who opposed self ID.

They can smash a brick in a woman's face because they hold a specific viewpoint (not theirs) but it doesn't occur to aim the verbal abuse at anyone other than women who hold that view.

Then their "protection" of women who do align to their views is naming and shaming on social media.

Yet....it isn't really. As the person in question clearly has an alias.

So they just revert back to being "Joe Blogs" and no-one know who the hell they are.

But there's no precedent for that is there.....oh wait a minute.....let me think about how many male sexual offenders have changed their name in prison and insist (with TRA support) on not being dead named or misgendered...

Off the top of my head...1,2,3,4,5........

thebewilderness · 09/08/2018 03:08

Men's rage at "terfs" is basically a shout out to the 2nd rule of misogyny: Women saying no to men is a hate crime. and the 4th rule of misogyny: Women's opinions are violence against men, thus male violence against women is justified.
