As I was saying about the police.....

Wtf is "misgendering"?! Genuinely have no clue what this might be and whatever it is was totally and utterly non-intentional.

To those who doubted - this is 100% genuine.

To those who thought I was being rude that night - I'd like to make the point that nothing I said was directed at the person. I was making genetic statements for the purpose of conversation, not carrying out a personal attack on one person.

If this stays up then I will post a screenshot of the text I received from the PO.

Oh, I missed this gem.

It was in the original thread Datun.

Ahh. Well that's gone unfortunately.

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 07/08/2018 13:35

Insisting in a beligerant manner that a hand bag and nail varnish makes you a women is offensive. Calling the police to emphasise your point is surely harassment?

How do we prove that trans women are not women?

Just look at how the police react to a complaint made by them.

If they were a real women, there would be no further action, they would probably just shred the complaint and forget all about it.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 07/08/2018 13:37

You think that heated discussion of ideas between individuals should be avoided in case it harms the emotional wellbeing of the participants? In all cases or only if one of the participants is trans?

I think if you have a pretty good idea that someone will take what you are saying personally and be hurt by it, the adult thing to do is to keep the tone calm and respectful or step away.

Yes, I think you are so right, which is why women are never catcalled, the house of commons is a quiet serene place and universities have closed all their libraries. And why men don't come on here any more policing women's language...oh hang on ...

hipsterfun · 07/08/2018 13:44

So the thin-skinned or those who, in bad faith, claim to be hurt, win every time?

LunaTrap · 07/08/2018 13:44

Do you tell transactivists to keep the tone calm and respectful? Is the potential for 'hurt feelings' really a good reason not to have important discussion about things that may impact us? Because that seems to really just be a way of telling women to shut up.

HopeMumsnet · 07/08/2018 13:45

Just jumping on to say that no, the OP hasn't been banned! Grin

ProperLavs · 07/08/2018 13:48

Stuff only happens when white men go to the police.
Sadly the truest words I have read for a long time.

BarrackerBarmer · 07/08/2018 13:54

Thanks @HopeMumsnet

I hope she returns to the thread with an update

LunaTrap · 07/08/2018 13:56

Straight white men are now the most oppressed people in the history of oppression ever, simply by stating the word 'trans'. They have hijacked the statistics for transwomen of colour working as prostitutes to claim they are at higher risk of murder than anyone else, claim to be victims of 'transmisogyny' as women, homophobia as lesbians and transphobia from GC feminists. And others fall over themselves to support this narrative. It's a very clever trick and an excellent way of being able to threaten and abuse women whilst being viewed as progressive.

SimonBridges · 07/08/2018 13:56

I brilliant podcast I listen to (all killa no filla) was saying that the complaints to the police from two women are equal to a complaint from one man.

SimonBridges · 07/08/2018 13:56

Less so if that woman is a sex worker.

MipMipMip · 07/08/2018 14:00

You know how if someone compares a person to a Nazi you know that person has run out of ideas and lost that argument.

People who are rude to or use personal insults to Datun are the same.

Interesting that the onus is always on the woman to do that.

Ereshkigal · 07/08/2018 14:15

Suicide rates for trans people are much higher than average.

Want to link to that evidence?

theOtherPamAyres · 07/08/2018 14:15

You don't say?

You are talking out of your bottom SimonBridges.

Don't ask me how I know, but some of us (cough!) have to work in the context of such lies.

Ereshkigal · 07/08/2018 14:24

The transwoman in question then went on to report lots of other people.

It's perfectly reasonable to assume that the harassment is the other way round.

It's also, quite clearly, becoming an MO with certain litigious trans people.

The general public will not swallow this in a million years.

Absolutely agree with all this.

FruitOnAPlatter · 07/08/2018 14:25

It was in the original thread Datun

It's not how I read the original thread at all - I read it as that it's subsequently turned out that the person has had similar issues with other people on the same subject, had the same answers and complained about those answers... but I suppose you see what you want to see in these things.

I’m willing to bet that had the op said to someone of, say, Asian background ‘just because you live in Britain and speak British it doesn’t make you British’

Which isn't a fair equivalence even - it would be more like 'just because you wear a bowler hat and a pinstripe suit doesn't make you British' - which when you see that, is patently ridiculous to be offended by.

If you are offended by the truth, it's probably better to excuse yourself from discussions - I know I've left the room before when conversation has turned ways I wouldn't be comfortable with. I've also stayed and fought my corner in other circumstances, because I felt it was worth it - and not called the police no matter how verbally nasty it got, because it's words, it's a conversation, and I was in it voluntarily.

theOtherPamAyres · 07/08/2018 14:27

......was saying that the complaints to the police from two women are equal to a complaint from one man.Less so if that woman is a sex worker.

Wrong, Simon Bridges.

Prostituted women and men are at a high risk of homicide, domestic violence, and other harms from buyers and controllers. Responding to complaints from prostituted women promptly and seriously is the best way of preventing serious crime.

Responding to complaints from prostituted women also leads to arrests for modern slavery and trafficking.

Do you still think the police are going to down-play complaints from prostituted women when those complaints lead to serious crime prevention and exposure of crime rings?

Grow up.

ProperLavs · 07/08/2018 14:29

My post has been deleted I have no idea why.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 07/08/2018 14:32

It's well known that the police treat crime in different ways depending on their assessment of the "credibility" of the victim.

Leading to crime reported by many often vulnerable demographics getting no support from the criminal justice system or other systems meant to help.

Why are you telling simon to shove it?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 07/08/2018 14:33

Examples of women and children not being listened to when they reported crime has been all over the news for years now.

++ other dempgraphics that the police see as "unreliable" including missing a serial murderer of gay men and putting the deaths down to their "lifestyle".

SimonBridges · 07/08/2018 14:34

There were a number of prostitues who went missing where I live. The police did precious little until they turned up dead and there was clearly a serial killer.

I will not ‘grow up’ thanks if growing up means that I have to pretend then women are listened to at an equal level to men.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 07/08/2018 14:36

You should grow up TBH you are not living in the real world.

The Met are racist as all fuck. Are you going to tell me to "grow up" for saying that? Look at all the black men dead in custody with no wrongdoing found ever on the part of the police.

Look at that woman in wales who was beaten brutally and repeatedly by her partner and the police took his word that all was OK every time they came around.

Look at the HUNDREDS of girls in Rotherham etc who were being prostituted and tell us again how the police are red hot keen and very efficient at protecting the vulnerable, why don't you.

This is FWR isn't it?
