The interconnectedness of all things. I thought for a moment there were two simon blakes, but no. www.stonewall.org.uk/people/simon-blake-obe

It really makes you wonder about he charity sector and the people that seem to do two or three years and move on. They all seem to be interconnected. Same goes for the GG one.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 21/08/2018 20:59

We should keep an eye on where Blake is moving on to.

My feeling is that the movement will parasitically attach itself to disability rights once it has sucked all it can from lgb and intersectional feminism.

Melamin · 21/08/2018 21:00

The third sector is also supposed to be taking up the slack with the Big Society bollocks so that is a source of money - it is full of CEOs that are like wandering minstrels.

Melamin · 21/08/2018 21:03

He is off to mental health first aid - plenty for him there Hmm - I am sure I read somewhere that there was going to be a lot of mental health first aid workshops everywhere, like the trans ones.

borntobequiet · 21/08/2018 22:31

Serious havoc to be wreaked in the MH sphere for those so inclined.

boatyardblues · 21/08/2018 23:19

Oh, Floral, I just had a flashback to pooh and hand cream in a cup stirred with a toothbrush because it was a "magic potion".

No less plausible than all those grandiose claims made by high end cosmetics/skincare brands IMO.

This.

Simon Blake was paid £100k/year for his role in the NUS, which was pretty controversial for a "lefty" organisation.

This is The Tab describes his backgroud:

Originally from Cornwall, Blake went to Cardiff University where he read Psychology. He was an active leader at university, joining the LGBT society and helping to set up “The Shag Group”, a sexual health awareness group concerning HIV prevention. After working in a few other health related roles, Blake became chief executive of the UK’s largest sexual health charity, Brook, where he remained for five years, and in 2011 was awarded an OBE for services to the voluntary sector. In 2015, Blake joined the NUS as chief executive.

When this current ship starts to sink, in particular when there starts to be repercussions for the absolutely unethical medical practices which have damaged so many, the rats will happily swim off and jump onto the next thing that offers them attention, money and status.

I think part of the reason for the insistence that no irreversible changes are necessary (for adult males) to declare themselves trans is that for many this is a cynical exercise in self promotion and power and they have a strong sense of self preservation. It’s easy to cut your hair, wipe off your eyeshadow and self diagnose with the next cause célèbre.

Those who have been damaged by this madness, particularly girls and young women who have poisoned themselves with testosterone and have had major surgery, will be left behind and will find that they are of no further interest to those who are so vocal in their “support” when there is something to gain.

ChattyLion · 22/08/2018 07:36

^ Oscarino that’s exactly what I fear will happen. I totally agree.

And I agree with the careerist aspect of it. we see the self-serving nature of ‘transition’ Hmm (only ever construed as wearing feminine clothes only) for some male-bodied people, who receive fete-ing while being objectively very average performers in (...insert chosen professional field here...)

These individuals gather instant attention, a public platform and gain unheard-of career promotion (unheard of for women, that is) simply because they identify as trans while taking up WOMEN’S JOB ROLES OR WOMEN’S COMPETITIONS.

Natal woman of the exact same career achievement level (or lack of) have to earn these status, roles and privileges and the public platform and will never get ‘the so brave and stunning’ Hmm attention.

i can't help feeling like they are up to something - it's eerily quiet from the TRAs

This is my opinion. They are working together on submissions to the GRA and on 'personal relationships' ie networking to ensure they get their way. They will also be preparing for party conference set pieces and publicity. They want to regain control of the PR. They are exceptionally cautious about any media work. Puff pieces only from now on. They're aware that debate makes them look terrible (particularly as the only trans 'speakers' are Jane Fae and Heather Peto) . They are doing what they did in Scotland: private conversations in quiet rooms away from the media and the public. There is very little we can do about that except keep on keeping on. Stickerwoman might not seem much compared to meetings with important people behind the scenes. But it's that glare of the wrong publicity they hate, PR they can't control. We don't have that kind of inner sanctum access, and the women's groups that do, were infiltrated long ago.

However there will be TRA who are disgusted by Jess Bradley's blog, Jane Fae's defence of extreme porn and so on, and realise they can't get away with it any more, so they're trying to clean house and make sure their submissions to and behaviour around the consultation are squeaky clean.

Anyway that's my opinion.

Melamin · 22/08/2018 14:08

Keep sticking! Smile

Wrathofjurgenklop · 22/08/2018 14:51

Yes Charlie, the party conferences will be interesting.
There will be speeches made on the public stage and speeches made to selected audiences.
Either way, it will be monitored for reaction and controlled.
It is likely to be a cautious dripfeed of exposure to gauge reaction.
Younger better looking trans, male and female joining the lobby groups.(Doing linguistic gymnastics here).
All to make it appear more normal.

Keep it up #stickerwomen.

Is there any update on the Jess Bradley investigation?

VickyEadie · 22/08/2018 17:27

Is there any update on the Jess Bradley investigation?

My bet? After a while, JB will be quietly reinstated after an alleged slap on the wrist and possibly some sort of nebulous half 'apology'.

Moanslice · 22/08/2018 17:33

Um...what about POLICE investigation?

Hattifattner · 22/08/2018 19:22

connections....

The investigation of Nic Shall, the transperson who tried to noplatform and disrupt the bristol WOmens Place event, is still rumbling on - since feb?. Nic was being investigated by the uni for their conduct....has engaged legal team, and is crowdfunding - up to 6k at the moment. Are all Uni investigations so long winded? Or do they all get quietly dropped??

Nic's defence crowdfunder is being promoted by bristols Sisters Uncut.

They are also hosting an event to get people to fill in the GRA form - bring your laptops and we'll help you fill it in....

Nic is friends with Natacha Kennedy. And shared a platform at a conference on gender with Peter Dunne. Both advise government.

Wanderabout · 22/08/2018 20:28

Didn't realise Peter Dunne and Natasha Kennedy advise the government.

Procrastinator1 · 22/08/2018 21:08

Does anyone know which police area Bradley lives in?

Sarahconnor1 · 22/08/2018 21:12

Jess as far as i know lives in manchester so Greater Manchester police

Hattifattner · 22/08/2018 22:40

Peter Dunne is a co convenor for health on the Trans Legal Equality Initiative, along with Tara Hewitt. from his bio "In 2015, Peter was invited to provide evidence to the UK Parliamentary Inquiry on Transgender Equality (conducted by the House of Commons Select Committee on Women and Equalities). His research was extensively referenced by the Committee in its 2016 Report, Transgender Equality." He is a law lecturer at Bristol. He is very involved with gender identity law.

Natacha Kennedy writes extensively about trans rights for children, and has met Sarah Champion MP alongside Heather Peto at the Houses of Parliament ...here So def involved in the politics of gender....just maybe not as formal advisor at committee level...?

Charliethefeminist · 23/08/2018 10:52

The access which transactivists have with politicians and the media is absolutely unbelievable.

Charliethefeminist · 23/08/2018 10:53

Natacha Kennedy is also a wiki editor who has plotted with other trans activist wiki editors to erase gender critical feminists from the board.

Charliethefeminist · 23/08/2018 10:55

Why are politicians genuflecting at men who might as well have a banner saying 'we fucking hate women'

MorrisonsBakery · 23/08/2018 12:56

Are there now similar reporting restrictions centred around the Green party?
