TRAs seem very fond of the memory hole...

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 16/08/2018 19:45

Gosh now that is so very weird.

LondonLawyer · 16/08/2018 21:59

I'm sure they've made a detailed statement. Sadly, I can't find it. Anywhere.

R0wantrees · 16/08/2018 22:16

Deleting references to one of the founders of such an important and influential organisation must surely have warranted a detailed and (given the other members' backgrounds) nuanced statement.

Perhaps something else to ask at WEP?

PencilsInSpace · 16/08/2018 22:38

It's worth getting into the habit of screenshotting anything that may be relevant for future reference and also using the archive sites. I've found archive.li/ useful but I missed the TELI deletions.

pombear · 16/08/2018 22:48

I'm finding it intriuging the ever-growing link between some trans activisim personas, their very public 'activism' and their very public and eagerly-made links to their professed sexual activities.

I'm not implying that all transactivists are in this bracket, but week by week, more and more links come together.

For example:
Jess Bradley , aligned to TELI, before becoming 'erased', and their ( alleged) energy for getting the penis out in public.

Tara Hewitt, also aligned to TELI, and their publicly documented passion for BDSM, pet play and swinging. (Whilst also in their day job educating NHS professionals about trans-issues, reminding all those NHS workers that 'trans' includes men who get a sexual kick out of dressing in women's clothes.)

Zoe O'Connell, LibDem activist, and their polyamorous relationship.

Jane Fae, seeminly the BBC's 'go-to' spokesperson for all-things trans, and their championing of extreme porn and bemoaning the reduced ability to view cartoon CSA images, cos 'it's not fair' otherwise. (Let's not even go there about 'eggshell skulls' and all that).

Juno Dawson's eagerness to write about teenage girls' 'sex-positiveness' (despite not growing up as a teenage girl)

Zinnia Jones, who's promoting off-label, off prescription drugs to support all those trans-kids whose parents and medical team don't give them 'what they want', whilst monetarising a side-line in trans-porn.

And then there's many, many of the 'TRA' twitter-army, who, the minute you look through their twitter profile have BDSM/sissy porn/just 'off' tweets about how they view themselves as 'women' in the world, together with porn links.

Each to their own. Have your personal sexual desires and needs.

But I find it interesting just how many trans rights activists are so vocal at the same time about their sexual lives.

In contrast to most of the gender critical voices on the internet. I couldn't tell you most of the sexual activities that GC activists like, other than their sexual orientation. Strange, isn't it?

We can all see it.

Many of us have our red flags hoisted as a result.

So this is a bit of a redundant post, but just wanted to say it out loud. There's a theme. Many of us can see it.

LondonLawyer · 16/08/2018 22:52

This is the one they missed.

PencilsInSpace · 16/08/2018 23:20

Jess Bradley has underone a long process to become her authentic self.

pombear · 16/08/2018 23:26

...

Oldstyle · 16/08/2018 23:26

Notice Jess is still twittering authentically but now with no mention of NUS - just a 'rent a gob' byline. No doubt there will be a statement from the NUS any day now.

pombear · 16/08/2018 23:32

Just realised, I don't have a penis, so can't join in with Jess on the exhibitionist pathway to my authentic self.

Damn.

May have to contact Brian from Hull to see if I can tap into my yoni to authentice myself.

Meanwhile - apologies to Jess for bumping your name yet again to the top of this board. Must be annoying whilst you and the NUS are trying to bury what's happened!

thebewilderness · 16/08/2018 23:41

Today I learned, thanks to the Manafort trial, the name for all those companies and organizations Jess started. Shelf companies. They just sit there on the shelf empty and aging so they look like they have been around a long time when the owner finally take them off the shelf and starts using them.

PencilsInSpace · 16/08/2018 23:42

Well shit, pombear, how on earth do you expect to undergo the long, stunning and brave process of becoming your authentic self if you don't even have a penis to slap out on the desk in order to demonstrate your oppression?

Ereshkigal · 16/08/2018 23:48

I just googled Jess' name.

Top result is the MEN article.

Second is NUS Connect about Jess being trans officer.

Third is gendertrender.

MN thread part 2 is number 6.

Oh dear, NUS!

pombear · 16/08/2018 23:51

Oh crap Pencils you have a point. Back to the drawing board! In the meantime, just accidentally bumping this thread (Sorry Jess-on-the-shelf)

pombear · 16/08/2018 23:53

(Bit like elf on the shelf, but sadly with an extra member flopping out, and not very Christmass-y!)

Ereshkigal · 16/08/2018 23:58

Bit of tinsel round it? A star on the end?

pombear · 17/08/2018 00:03

Eresh definitely - a 'flashing' star is mandatory!

And back to the seriousness - how strange to delete all references without any public statement.

Almost like creeping out of the back door 'nothing to see here, nothing to see'. Move on.

And yet. Here we are. Bumping up the decorated Christmas Jess Bradley member for all to see. (Waves)

Ereshkigal · 17/08/2018 00:06

TELI and NUS might have suddenly developed amnesia. We won't.

LondonLawyer · 17/08/2018 00:07

Mate. The thought of a flasher with tinsel and lights is making me ill.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 17/08/2018 06:40

pombear
Although it isn't sexual deviance - Paris Lees found 'her' authentic self serving a prison sentence for robbery.

pachyderm · 17/08/2018 06:57

pombear good links between the TRAs and sexualised porny stuff.

I would add Shon Faye telling teenagers to "suck dick and get tits early".

And don't search the #girlslikeus or even #trans hashtags while you're at work Confused

R0wantrees · 17/08/2018 07:10

Googling 'Trans Equality Legal Initiative Jess Bradley' gives the following results:

The first result from the site Transcrime details the allegation which is currently being investigated by the NUS and Jess Bradley's various positions. It has a number of links to newspaper articles, statements etc that feature Jess Bradley:
transcrimeuk.com/2018/08/02/jess-josh-bradley/

The second is Garden Court Chambers' 2016 which has the timetable of the inaugural TELI conference. Garden Court Chambers have representatives on two of the three plenaries and both break out sessions.
The Garden Court team includes Stephanie Harrison QC who amongst her many achievements was appointed as legal counsel to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) in 2015.
Shu Shin Luh
Michelle Hudson one of the co founders with Jess Bradley and Tara Hewitt
Louise Hooper

Its interesting to note the focus of their work.

Also featured on the first page of the search is a 2017 article by Jess Bradley For Beyond the Binary: A Magazine for UK Non-Binary People, Gender Matters: on Gender Feelings and Materiality:

(extract)
"I have a problem. Occasionally, I suffer from the masochistic urge to look at some of the more transphobic parts of the twitterverse. I know its not good for me, but I chalk this drive up to part internalised transmisogyny and part a need to understand the thought processes of the people who hate us. Whenever I do, I see a repeated refrain from some transphobic ‘radical feminists’: “gender is not a feeling”.

This statement encapsulates what many people see as a key difference between the radical feminist and the liberal trans feminist accounts of gender. The radical feminist account of gender places gender as a social system of power and oppression built upon the actual (and perceived) reproductive capacity of people assigned female at birth, which bleeds into all aspects of life. The liberal transfeminist account of gender understands gender as a way of a naming and placing oneself in relation to the world, as a project of identity. For me, both these definitions do not fully account for the trans experience. The liberal transfeminist account often falls into ignoring power, and the radical feminist account often uses its power to ignore, erase, or work against, trans people and their interests. In isolation, both understandings are insufficient. But they are also not mutually exclusive, and perhaps a more accurate and empowering picture could be drawn from a blending of these perspectives." (continues)

bio from article: "Jess Bradley (she / they) is the Trans Officer for the NUS, founder of Action for Trans Health, and prisons co-convenor for the Trans Equality Legal Initiative. "

From the website above 'Beyond the Binary'

"Beyond the Binary uses the term ‘non-binary’ as an umbrella to catch and include a range of gender and sex identities that do not completely fit only man/woman, masculine/feminine, or male/female. We realise that language varies from person to person and space to space, and some people may not feel included by the term. There are no guidelines on what ‘non-binary’ is or is not, and we do not enforce one image or experience of being non-binary. We recognise it’s difficult to find a wording that encapsulates everyone’s experience of what non-binary is or means.
