Sorry, meant by gosh. Slip of the keyboard there oops.

SturdyEarmuffs · 12/08/2018 05:05

Thought it was worth adding this so we can enjoy Jess' contribution to the highly entertaining gender neutral toiletgate fiasco earlier this year at #nustrans18.

Sounds like Jess Bradley made a rather extraordinary and very powerful speech SturdyEarmuffs .

I am struck by the comment in response, "the women in this movement deal with so much and are magical"

Also interesting to read that a delegate is now "ready to change the fucking world"

I wonder if Jess Bradley repeated & expanded on her belief?

"The first time I changed the world was when I told my mates to call me she rather than he. I literally constructed a new world where its possible to understand myself as a genderqueer woman, despite being asigned male at birth simply by changing the language to describe myself. This is why language and pronouns are so important. Its about creating a world in which trans people are allowed to exist"

The "passion for freedom" = passion for penis freedom to go where ever, do what ever it likes unfettered by others' lack of consent, or the law, or prison. Penis free in the workplace, the bus stop, where ever..

Cartertheunstoppablesexmachine · 12/08/2018 09:03

Even the pink sparkly unicorn threw up after reading that fantasy fiction, Jess.

Here's the Private Eye piece. Hope the resolution isn't too crap.

I'm going to throw a cynical spanner into the works and agree with you both in this. I fear that the dark heart of the issue is that the type of almost instinctive 'appetite' for the access and freedom you suggest is indistinguishable from the expression of power, and that the powerful in this case cannot see this, themselves.

We don't need to zoom out very far to see the often clear correlation between power and its abuse. One reason why this particular issue is so terrifying is that we can see it operating, blind to itself, in real time.

Is this for real? How inward looking is it possible for a person to be?

An example of a game / learning resource to help improve your understanding of pronouns.

"There are lots of reasons it’s important to use the correct pronouns a person prefers, but the simple answer is it can make a person feel pretty shit when you use the wrong ones.

Some can sound pretty strange, and changing the words you use in general can be harder than expected, but making the effort can go a really long way."

I didn't know that fae was one

It's quite controlling isn't it? The insistence "respect my pronouns"

(there was an incident at the We Need to Talk event in Bristol and for the masked people blocking and jostling on the stairs, 'mispronouning' (by a stranger) became the issue for one of them.

If you do a YouTube Search 'Am I transgender?' most (if not all) of the top ranking results say 'if you're asking then you probably are' and then also suggest as a next step to see what pronouns you like or feel right and 'come out' with those first.

Does anyone pls have the link to jess being mown down by a pipe band?

theOtherPamAyres · 12/08/2018 22:03

Jess (purple rucksaw) is caught between joining the protesters and the advancing pipe band. Dances around trying to decide. Makes wrong decision. Mown down by pipe band.

Charliethefeminist · 13/08/2018 05:40

Oh god Grin thank you

R0wantrees · 13/08/2018 11:12

There are a great number of key policies and legislation relating to trans health available from GenderGP (Dr Helen Webberley) website:

For those interested in exploring further the role that Jess Bradley and Action for Trans Health have played, this would be a useful source.

I like to point out as often as possible that Dr Webberley was sanctioned by the GMC for giving inappropriate trans-related treatment to a 12 year old.

PencilsInSpace · 13/08/2018 15:52

Here is an article from 2010 in which Jane Fae grumbles about a new law that criminalises the possession of cartoon CSA images.

VickyEadie · 13/08/2018 15:58

I was especially alarmed by Jane Fae's specific comment in that article: "The second motivation is more controversial and appears to stem from a knee-jerk "if paedophiles enjoy it, it must be bad".

Cartertheunstoppablesexmachine · 13/08/2018 16:35

That video is comedy gold, thanks Pam. Not seen it before, so thanks too Charlie.

Light relief from current Twitter bun fight!

Cartertheunstoppablesexmachine · 13/08/2018 16:37

Currant bun fight would be more fun.

Hattifattner · 13/08/2018 19:48

So given that JBs alleged blog had cartoons of CSA - specifically the childrens TV character Ben 10, plus considering the ladypeen out in public spaces, are the Plod planning to charge JB? Will they confiscate JBs computer? The whistleblower may not have wanted a criminal investigation, but presumably/hopefully there will be one?

Or will that be a hate crime of kink shaming?

PencilsInSpace · 13/08/2018 21:10

I would hope the NUS have officially informed the police.

R0wantrees · 13/08/2018 21:16

Rose of Dawn:
"The NUS has confirmed to me that the Jess Bradley investigation is still ongoing - and they can’t give an end date as of yet.
I’m not letting this slip by quietly."

heresyandwitchcraft · 14/08/2018 11:55

In case it wasn't mentioned before, another insightful Rose of Dawn tweet:

I feel stupid for never noticing this. The NUS launched a campaign on the gender recognition act on 24 July - spearheaded by women’s and LGBT campaigns but NO mention of Jess Bradley or the trans campaign. @NUS_LGBT @nusuk did they know about Bradley?
