BettyDuMonde I remember you arriving, and you swiftly became one of my favourite posters. So glad you stuck around!

Ninon You are really very welcome here Smile. As others have said, some women have been fighting this issue a long time. Please do stick around!

mrnohips · 02/08/2018 18:16

I’ve learned that many transsexuals are also anti self ID and opposed to the current trans ideology and some are speaking out and getting just as much shit for it as us (banned 4 letter acronym that denotes we should die in a fire)

That's interesting. Their aggressive attitude is alienating the people they're supposed to be helping.

BettyDuMonde · 02/08/2018 18:17

And yes, massive props to the GC feminists that have been singing away like canaries in a coal mine for ages (at considerable cost to their mental wellbeing, and in some cases, to their careers) while I have been an oblivious frog, happily boiling away.

We need as many frogs to stop boiling and start taking up the anti-wang baton as we can get.
Fuck knows the canaries must be bloody exhausted by now!

boatyardblues · 02/08/2018 18:24

This is my favourite post today. Anti-wang baton. 😂

TRAs even have a name for gender dysphoric transsexuals - they call them ‘truscum’

Miranda Yardley (banned from Twitter - not sure why, possibly because she knows she is a man and will say so) has an excellent blog and speaks at GC events, Debbie Hayton & Kristina Harrison have both written excellent pieces for the national press (inc the Economist series) Rose of Dawn on YouTube, Angry Bird & Fionne Orlander on twitter - probably tons more but that’s off the top of my head.

HomefromtheHills posts on here - she was a very early transitioner in the U.K. and has a very good understanding of the timeline in regards to British law and medicine.

Lots of dysphoric transfolk are horrified at the idea of removing the medical gatekeeping - they know it’s important to ensure you are doing the right thing (and to weed out the wrong ‘uns). Most would like to see the process be a bit more dignified and for the NHS waiting lists to be shorter but they know that self ID would be madness and cause problems for women and children.

Mxyzptlk · 02/08/2018 18:39

Yes but please bear in mind .....etc

People can't bear these things in mind if they didn't know about them.
Your exasperation is understandable, Agastache, but you're sniping at the wrong target.

mrnohips · 02/08/2018 18:40

I've just been reading the Summer Camp thread. (think it's in aibu) It's upsetting to see how many teachers aren't questioning whether the relentless bombarding of children re the trans agender is morally right.
There is a 'well they aren't hurting anyone' and 'I try to teach inclusiveness'' blanket response to everything.

If even the GateKeepers are blind to it, what hope is there? Hmm

BettyDuMonde · 02/08/2018 18:43

Ooh, ‘Seven Hex TTQ’ on twitter. Has an excellent pinned tweet about why she won’t be changing her birth certificate, because she’s a ‘bit of a historical puritan’ Grin

I love this - I wonder if in the future people will be perturbed when their ancestors mysteriously disappear from the records - after all, you tend to work backwards through the family tree so parents of some people will appear to have never been born at all!

mrnohips · 02/08/2018 18:43

Yes, that's it.

mrnohips · 02/08/2018 18:48

that's the thread Brave.

It might be worth some of you going over to that thread? - it's in aibu, which gets more traffic.
If I could wake up[ just oneof those teachers who are commenting I would be beyond happy. It's needs some one more articulate though (which I'm not)

BraveAndStunning · 02/08/2018 18:56

I'm on it, but it's making me mad.

BettyDuMonde · 02/08/2018 19:01

We need to campaign the government so orgs like these cannot go into schools or distribute literature without being preapproved by an overseeing body - preferably one that is directly connected to Tavistock and Portland (the children’s NHS gender clinic).

Much of what is being parroted as best practice is actually at odd with what the Tavi actually do/recommend parents do. The problem is that the waiting lists are so long that people (quite understandably) go off piste and are overloaded with the ‘affirm immediately and remortgage for private healthcare or your kid will DIE and it’s all YOUR FAULT’ before they ever even see a qualified specialist.

Problem with lots of teachers is they are such nice people, always looking for the best in people - mostly women of course, socialised to be nice.

BraveAndStunning · 02/08/2018 19:37

Betty

This is why I am so concerned about LGBT Youth. They have already taken this 'School's Charter' document into about 20ish schools in Scotland, and it's happening completely under the radar. The' LGBT' thing makes people think it's about gay rights but the document itself is almost exclusively about transgender issues and advises that parents are not told if theit child is sharing accomodation with a child of the opposite sex; if their child has confided gender confusion and also that the parents are refferred to 'authorities' if they don't accept the gender confusion as fact of being transgender, with all the name changes, pronouns etc associated.

It's happening completely under the radar, and the organisation itself it expanding so as to widen the net and has had its funding increased drastically this year.

Ereshkigal · 02/08/2018 19:42

Greta Williams-Schultz is also listed as a NUS director, don't think Loz Webb is though. Which makes two people on both boards/committees.

Greta Williams Schultz is Jess's former flatmate with whom Jess set up Naked Vegan Cooking. Very cosy.

BettyDuMonde · 02/08/2018 19:54

That’s a dinner party we won’t get/don’t want an invite to!

Ereshkigal · 02/08/2018 20:02

Some of the recipes themselves look lovely from the out of date FB page but the site has been taken down a while ago by the looks of things. Try to contain your disappointment!

Oh yeah, the LGB is a Trojan horse for the T, for sure.

In the USA a lot of the state ‘bathroom bills’ are part of other LGB legislature. Most decent, reasonable people will not vote against gay rights and the US is currently way behind us so it’s still very much on the liberal/progressive agenda.

So you have one bill to vote on that grants both same sex marriage AND takes away single sex facilities...

Imagine being a GC lesbian and getting confronted with that. Awful.

thebewilderness · 02/08/2018 20:28

Reading about Jess Bradley and Karen Jones has caused me to do a complete 180 on self-id.

Please pardon me for questioning the ethics of someone who was willing to throw the female half of the population under the bus for the sake of their friend.

AtreidesFreeWoman · 02/08/2018 20:56

@thebewilderness

What point are you making?

Frankly I feel it's not helpful.

LeiaTheSlaya · 02/08/2018 21:02

What point are you making?

The point is, don't denigrate the work of women just because you didn't get what they were saying or doing until you finally understood.

AtreidesFreeWoman · 02/08/2018 21:05

Actually I'll add to my previous post....

I'm getting somewhat peeved about the reaction to posters new to FWR who "peak" too late...

Yes - some of us have been in this for a long time, but I'm getting quite disgruntled by some of the comments here directed to new posters.

Bespin · 02/08/2018 21:08

"TRAs even have a name for gender dysphoric transsexuals - they call them ‘truscum’

this is not the term for gender dysphoric transexuals at all. it is derived from true trans which as been around for years which in turn derived from the Harry bengimins. There have always been a group of trans usually woman that think they have done it properly that they meet all the diagnostics and are therefore proper transexuals that is the meaning. of late that seems to have morphed to gender critical trans women. but it as nothing to do with if they are dysphoric or not.

AtreidesFreeWoman · 02/08/2018 21:15

@LeiaTheSlaya

I didn't see anyone denigrating the work already done.

What I do see is a less than generous welcome to posters who have expressed their support.

Hmm
nauticant · 02/08/2018 21:17

I'm also getting pissed off at this "peaked too late" response. I started discussing this less than 2 years ago. Does that mean I should be told off or is that early enough for me to feel that I've "earned my place" in some way?

New posters, or lurkers, will be getting the message that if they didn't join the club early enough they'll be looked down on. FFS.
