Interesting points re: ATH - it’s deffo not a registered charity - I checked earlier. Tried to figure out what Trans Equality Legal Initiative is too (founded by Tara Hewitt and J Bradley but JB now scrubbed from their website) but no mention of it at companies house.

actionfortranshealth.org.uk/2017/05/18/2015-2016-financial-report/

They seem to have more than £5000 income?

OvaHere · 01/08/2018 15:19

The fixation on the abolition of prisons that seems to come with JB as they move between organisations appears more persistent than even their fixation on gender issues.

Assuming this is them they made a lot of FOI requests about prisoners in 2015 (not all responded to)
www.whatdotheyknow.com/user/jess_bradley

The cynic in me thinks that the prison obsession is about causing maximum anarchy in the shortest amount of time. Of all the situations where putting males in female spaces is dangerous I would say prisons is the top one where it will have a devastating effect very quickly.

jgrobinson · 01/08/2018 15:22

Action for Trans Health is a company.
At last accounts, Aug 2017, it had only £137 in the bank.
Soon afterwards, it asked for applications for grants for health.
It gave away £10,490 in grants by July 2018.
(I've never seen anyone publicly thanking ATA for a grant, BTW.)

Melamin · 01/08/2018 15:25

If you look at the Memorandum of Association, it is ' a charitable company limited by guarantee'

BettyDuMonde · 01/08/2018 15:28

Well, that link to a PDF on companies house is both huge AND useless.

Couple of screenshots

The prison thing is libertarianism gone wild (same as the bodily autonomy of being able to self medicate with hormones at will and the freedom to get one’s cock out whenever one chooses).

Of course, the anti-police (ACAB) thing may be literary foreshadowing - those operating outside of the law are unlikely to welcome the presence of officers of the law.

mrnohips · 01/08/2018 15:35

Being gender fluid/having two identities/legal rights to ‘forget history’ after transition etc..

I've often wondered whether that's the real reason that child-murdering scum Ian Huntley wanted to transition to a woman.
He's hoping if he gets a new false identity it will make us forget.

Nope, not happening.
He can call himself what he likes, but he will always be

Ian Huntley Child Murderer, in my eyes and millions of others.

Woman isn't an identity you can conveniently slip on, like an item of clothing, when it suits.

AtreidesFreeWoman · 01/08/2018 15:38

Yes - 11 FOI requests all related to prisons or immigration centres. All made in 2015.

Sample of the requests in screenshot.

It is funny that the NUS resigned Jess and appointed Joshua, when a previous group had just submitted a name change form - have the forms changed?

VickyEadie · 01/08/2018 15:46

This 'aboltion of prisons' thing - am I mssing a lot of detail, or is JB simply arguing that not having prisons would be fine, no problem at all?

Rose of Dawn has been my eye opener on the batshittery in student politics - here’s her video on the NUS trans conference

And another one where she critiques J Bradley:

Checking in after name changing, thanks for the second thread and I reckon it won't be long until we need a third.

The companies house stuff is well suspect. I am of the belief that JB has gotten either to big for its breeches and believed it to be untouchable ....or.......it really is not smart enough to realise that these things come out. A perve will always be a perve and will always (excuse the pun) end up exposed.

Undercoverswede · 01/08/2018 16:08

The fact that we are even having this discussion around Jess/Joshua/DoB/different organisations with seemingly unrelated political activities suggests issues around accountability and legal entities. The abolition of prisons/anti-police thing on top? Someone said extreme libertarianism earlier - this rings true. Libertarianism is surprisingly similar to political anarchism in theory, just liberally spiked with capitalism.

So much wtf. The rifts this activism causes between women and organised politics (across the entire political spectrum bar UKIP - which I think wasn't ever a realistic target destination for female voters en masse), lesbians and LGBT, and transsexuals and the trans movement certainly suggest that there's a bit more than rainbows and unicorns involved.

We need legal beagles on this.

LangCleg · 01/08/2018 16:20

Libertarianism is surprisingly similar to political anarchism in theory, just liberally spiked with capitalism.

And the reification of gender role stereotypes is as conservative as all get out.

So quite why we are the ones who are called right wingers when the ideology we're opposing is hyper-individualist, hyper-capitalist and hyper-libertarian, is entirely beyond me.

International day of solidarity with trans prisoners..........

Wanderabout · 01/08/2018 16:24

ATH often touts for donations.

See the recent letter Stella Duffy signed, The Oxford University students moany letter about WPUK - both suggested people donate to ATH to show support.

Also the Momentum trans event with Madigan, Kaveney etc that Diane Abbot attended was in the Mail because of the ATH funding link

VickyEadie · 01/08/2018 16:25

JB is interestingly obsessed with trans prisoners - to the extent that what they did to get into prison is entirely ignored and they're elevated to the ranks of martyrs, freedom fighters and the like. Rather than the sex offenders that a fair number of them actually are.

I wonder why JB is so obsessed...

Wanderabout · 01/08/2018 16:26

Bizarrely I saw the NUS listed with trans orgs like Mermaids as part of a large group of trans related orgs that did some work together. This may have been funded by the govt but not 100% sure.

LondonLawyer · 01/08/2018 16:29

There are a number of possible lines of defence for a TRA when a transwomen or NB person (or both, which makes no bloody sense) is caught with his / her / their /xir /zhe pants down:

  1. The cis woman or women alleging this are lying, they are conspiring against the poor trans person out of sheer transphobia, it never happened;
  1. If, contrary to (1) it did happen, it shows that the person isn't really trans; OR
  1. These things happen literally eleventy billion times a year so ; AND / OR
  1. Person was so abused and traumatised by transphobia that it only happened because TERFs made it happen; AND / OR;
  1. One bad apple and by even mentioning it you are saying all trans are perverts your BIGOTS; AND / OR;
  1. Reporting this is trans misogyny because no-one would report it if a cis woman did it; AND / OR
  1. doesn't matter if person did it anyway, because trans are brave, stunning, most oppressed people ever so meh.
Undercoverswede · 01/08/2018 16:34

LangCleg

Maybe precisely because it splinters? A little bit of metaphorical paint stripper applied to the arguments makes it look like a Trojan horse.

StepBackNow · 01/08/2018 16:49

Well at least Jess has rendered Jess unemployable, ever. Serve Jess right.

LangCleg · 01/08/2018 16:49

Maybe precisely because it splinters? A little bit of metaphorical paint stripper applied to the arguments makes it look like a Trojan horse.

Indeed it does.

BettyDuMonde · 01/08/2018 17:26

Re: LangCleng’s ‘why we’re the right wingers’ when it’s the TRAs that are clearly on the crazy libertarian ‘get the state out of my extreme porn, no rules for moi’ kick -

Identity politics. Co opted of course, but putting on a skirt and some opaque tights is like the cloak of invisibility in Harry Potter - or at least, they think it is.

Problem is, the rad fems don’t just have the GC equivalent of the mauraders map (signs of male pattern abuse) but we drew the bloody thing, together.

That’s why they are out to get us - we’re the barricade between them and their ability to freely act out their sexual fantasies in society.
