"Oh, and we have an announcement... NUS and Amnesty International UK are pleased to announce broadcaster and Private Eye Editor Ian Hislop will also be joining us as a keynote speaker!

Ian Hislop will appear alongside fellow keynotes Jon Snow, Sue Turton, and Nawal Al-Maghafi at this year’s event.

Returning for its eleventh year on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 August, the Student Media Summit offers workshops, talks and panel discussions with some of the UK's top journalists, and is a must for any student with an aspiring career in journalism."

Re the NUS name change

Could it just be that the NUS was tightening procedures and their official proof of ID was still in their birth name? Mind you, I would have simply done a name change by deed poll, if that was the case. Dead naming yourself seems pretty drastic.

hooochycoo · 01/08/2018 12:04

didn't I read somewhere on mumsnet recently that the masked guy on the stairs was called Josh?

Mxyzptlk · 01/08/2018 12:08

I don't believe JB considered they were doing anything women didn't do.

Wow, that makes sense if JB thinks they just happen to have a vagina that looks like a penis.
And if JB actually has no clue about how a woman thinks. (But how likely is that?)

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 01/08/2018 12:12

Ive been looking through meeting reports from the NUS - Jess Bradley was still attending meetings as part of the board in June 2018, with no mention of a Josh Bradley in the attendees.

In amongst the "worthiness" of student politics though, I did note that in June 2018:
"NEC Further Believes:
...

  1. The rise in online hate crime, including racism, islamophobia, antisemitism, homophobia,
transphobia and misogyny must be fought at all costs." (my bolding). Not very often you get misogyny mentioned as a bad thing that should be avoided Wink.

Further down the report, Jess Bradley proposed a motion that (amongst other things) wanted a moratorium on building new prisons. They weren't especially interested (ie didn't propose or second) either of the sexual harassment within the NUS motions. Thought that was interesting.

BeUpStanding · 01/08/2018 12:12

Off topic, but my guilty crush is Ian Hislop Blush

EmpressOfSpartacus · 01/08/2018 12:12

didn't I read somewhere on mumsnet recently that the masked guy on the stairs was called Josh?

The masked guy definitely wasn't Jess Bradley, that's been confirmed by women who were there.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 01/08/2018 12:14

No I think that it was nothing to do with what women might or might not do.

I think probably JB didn't imagine they were doing anything wrong the same as lots of other low level perves /sex offenders. They don't give a second thought to anyone else. Like men who catcall, apparently some when told that they have really upset/ frightened a girl with it, have been very apologetic and sorry. They do it as a male bonding thing/ because they can/ because they feel like it. The girl or woman on the receiving end is a prop, nothing more, they don't give her a second thought.

This is aside from all the ones who do want to scare/ upset etc.

THis document was referenced in written submission by Action for Trans Health to Women's & Equals select committee Transgender Equality Inquiry, Sept 2015

'Falling through the cracks:
Non-binary people’s experiences of transition related healthcare'

Authors: Jess Bradley, Loz Webb and Greta Williams-Schultz
Acknowledgements: with thanks to Bernard and Terri Read from GIRES, Ashleigh Talbot, and to our participants.

actionfortranshealth.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Falling-through-the-cracks-final-with-cover.pdf

Jess Bradley also gave oral evidence:
data.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/committeeevidence.svc/evidencedocument/women-and-equalities-committee/transgender-equality/oral/21345.html

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 01/08/2018 12:17

Greta Williams-Schultz is also listed as a NUS director, don't think Loz Webb is though. Which makes two people on both boards/committees.

Popchyk · 01/08/2018 12:17

But they set up another company a month later as Jess Bradley again, Timelady.

The directorships, in terms of timeline:

Josh
Jess
Jess
Josh
Jess
Jess
Jess

Looks like they are retaining the old ID and using it when it is useful to do so.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 01/08/2018 12:20

sorry, my mistake (far too easy to fall down a companies house rabbit hole) - Greta is also on the board for Manchester in Common, along with JB

MipMipMip · 01/08/2018 12:52

I've been wondering if Farter Fuck and assisting JB Pro BonerGrin as a test case. There is a lot of money to be made if they can quickly show an example of being the first to use new precedent with regard to the Cliff Richard case.

They obviously don't give a shit about IN given that comment in the Press Gazette where PG just said a union and CR deliberatly because some things are too crap even for them accidently mentioned the student element and made him easier to identify.

MipMipMip · 01/08/2018 12:53

Inster correct words and abbreviations at you own leisure. Blush

BettyDuMonde · 01/08/2018 12:56

All 3 of the Action for Trans Health officers resigned on the same day in April 2018 - it passed into the hands of ‘Ms Jessica Alisdair Fairbairn’ on the same day.

I’m guessing that that’s this person - ‘Mr Jessica Fairbairn’

personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/advanced.php?dn=cn%3DJessica+Fairbairn%2Bumanroleid%3D480657%2Cou%3DSchool+of+Computer+Science%2Cou%3DFaculty+of+Science+and+Engineering%2Cou%3DPeople%2Co%3DUniversity+of+Manchester%2Cc%3DGB&employeeType=Postgraduate&action=read&form_input=Submit

BettyDuMonde · 01/08/2018 12:57

Correction: ‘Alasdair’

Popchyk · 01/08/2018 12:58

Pro boner. Smile

Totally going to use that.

hooochycoo · 01/08/2018 13:01

This is a parallel universe isn't it?

Where people are just allowed to swap in-between names and genders to suit them? How are you supposed to keep track of people ?

MipMipMip · 01/08/2018 13:02

I nicked it from a P.P. Popchyk.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 01/08/2018 13:05

and in the formation documents for one of the companies Jess is a director of, they don't list any previous names, which I believe they are supposed to

BettyDuMonde · 01/08/2018 13:05

Various JB YouTube videos show as having a higher number of comments than the actual number of comments visible when you click through, e.g. 16 on one NUS owned video but only 11 visible when you count them.

Someone is performing damage limitation control.

There are still various other videos up (possibly from long dormant accounts) with new user comments - some making allegations about paedophilia. Could be purely malicious, of course.
