I'm feeling pretty angry about the positions of power this person achieved when it was so obvious that their claim to be a 'non-binary woman' was utter crap and no one could say it without being called a bigot.

YY. And an apology from Maria Miller for completely disregarding the concerns of 'purported feminists'.

LaSquirrel · 31/07/2018 22:45

JessBradleysInvisibleCock

LOLs on the screenname.
Although I must admit, someone's cock (even the lady variety) is not something I really want to think about!

I can only speak for myself, but as a woman I've bought lots of underwear and accessories and never once attempted to rape the shop assistant. Maybe that's why I've never been invited at the House of Lords.

Well, clearly you're not the right kind of woman. Not sufficiently brave and stunning.

AngryAttackKittens · 31/07/2018 22:46

I guess Maria Miller thinks that real feminists are pro-dick flashing, or ought to be? Or, alternatively, is an absolutely awful judge of character.

LangCleg · 31/07/2018 22:52

We should probably bring back streaking or something. Perhaps Maria would like us then.

In other Twitter news, I see the TRAs have renamed 'SWERFs' as 'Whorephobes'.

That could be fun reading in the DM

Hygge · 31/07/2018 23:09

I've only just got to grips with that made up bollocks about TERFs.

What does SWERFs and Whorephobes mean?

BettyDuMonde · 31/07/2018 23:13

Tons of the ‘SWERFs’ I know have personal experience - do they have ‘internalised whorephobia’ according to the boys-that-wank-at-bus-stops brigade?

JessBradleysInvisibleCock · 31/07/2018 23:14

SWERF = Sex Worker Exclusionary Radical Feminist

  • basically it means someone who doesn't think prostitution is as valid a 'career choice' as say, becoming an accountant or working the checkout at Morrisons.

Whorephobe is their new word for the above. I really hope it takes off.

LaSquirrel · 31/07/2018 23:26

'whorephobia' has been around for a number of years, dumb libfem term

OP posts:
ALittleBitofVitriol · 31/07/2018 23:27

Lol @ 'wenchphobe' VaggieMight
Yes please, can we make it a thing?

silentcrow · 31/07/2018 23:28

Jeez, they have another new word? I'm gonna sprain my eyeballs.

Anyway, it occurred to me that there might be a reason behind invoking the privacy and the big gun lawyers - nothing to do with JB themselves, but hiding who might have been following, or who is followed by, that blog. You can hide who you're following, so the whistleblower wouldn't have been able to get a screenshot unless they had password access, and you can't see who's following a account.

But it's possible Tumblr could be compelled to give up that information, and it would be mighty interesting to see who else is looking at these posts. Politicians? Underage kids? Funders of charities?

Who wants the CSI Mumsnet hat next? Grin

NameChangedAgain18 · 31/07/2018 23:32

Of course the extreme of whorephobia lies with men who murder prostitutes, so there is some serious and pretty nasty deflection going on in levelling the accusation at women.

Ereshkigal · 31/07/2018 23:33

YY. Quite some fucking reach.

Popchyk · 31/07/2018 23:34

My read on that is that the author knows more about what JB has been up to than they are letting on/ than is public knowledge?

Yep, me too.

Also I would view any person who made that kind of statement (which is essentially saying that the awful thing about JB's activities is that people are allowed to talk about them) with extreme caution.

I'd suspect that rather than making a defence of someone else, they are actually making an admission about themselves.

AngryAttackKittens · 31/07/2018 23:49

I'm a proud ignorantgobshitephobe, personally.

@GenderSkeptic If all trans people are a risk

We never said that though, did we? We say that violent males retain their male pettern violence even after transition. We say that males massively outnumber females as sexual offenders. We say that only 6% of males are rapists, but that we can't tell which males are the 6% and are forced to treat all males as possible rapists accordingly. And we say that we have to treat self-iding transwomen like other males because they haven't been through a psychological assessment that would hopefully detect violent abusers. But we have never said that we regard all trans people as a risk. For starters, we do not regard transmen as a risk because they are female. Transmen are a subset of trans people, or did you forget that because we weren't talking about female reproductive oppression and so you didn't need to wheel out transmen to silence us about that?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 01/08/2018 00:30

Whorephobic? Jesus fucking Christ. So believing sex work is dangerous and damaging is the view of oppressors? Looking out for vulnerable women is a real no no if you wanna be woke.

Mind you, being a bit of a gannet, mentions of SWERF and TE*F tend to make my mouth water. Have to remind myself no king prawns are involved. Grin

bd67th · 01/08/2018 00:36

whorephobic

Erm, no, that'll be the guys who beat and murder prostituted women and prostituted transwomen. Punterphobic, I'll happily own as a label. Being solicited by men in passing cars and vans whilst a teenager was terrifying. Even now, I walk on the side of the road that has the cars coming towards me, so I can't be approached in a vehicle from behind.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 01/08/2018 00:54

Sorry, perhaps I shouldn't have been flippant, but these labels are so preposterous I find them difficult to take seriously.

FloralBunting · 01/08/2018 00:59

Prawn, I agree with you, they are ridiculous labels. I feel the same about the ugly acronym WAG in a football context, actually. It's reductive and sneering and adds nothing of worth to intelligent discourse - which is precisely why the SWERF and T* terms are indeed slurs.

AngryAttackKittens · 01/08/2018 01:01

Notice that they're all nasty ways to say "woman who I don't approve of".

womanformallyknownaswoman · 01/08/2018 01:02

They will dispose of you if you get in their way

Chilling phrase and always good to remember that when dealing with disordered types in whatever guise. Reasonable video Jacky ( declaration: I have an inbuilt aversion to fast gabby Americans - I think it might be the pitch of their voices that seems higher than I am comfortable with - I digress but interesting to research why - anyway back to the my video):

I still think the distinction between psychopathy and sociopathy is manufactured so that white collar criminals & bullies, like some CEO's, don't get the P label. There are differing degrees of psychopathy and they use different tactics to dispose of people - often women and kids. Some use physical but these are the low hanging fruit who lack impulse control. These are the ones who sometimes get caught.

The more deadly, and usually never prosecuted, are those with P traits who weaponise processes eg use psychological, legal and financial abuse (as well as weaponising complaints system for sexual assault, whistleblowing, bullying etc) to ruin women (and some good men).

Try bringing a complaint against a lawyer or police or a doctor and / or trying to hold an abusive man to account through the misnamed justice system - then you see psychopathy in action- women have no chance up against that. Try divorcing a P trait man. Try getting a fair financial settlement as a loan woman- it's an unfair fight to put it politely.

That's what men don't want outing - that a significant minority of them have these traits and are disordered but have a veneer, a body suit, of civility. No wonder some of these types like to hide their true identity by anonymity and /or disguises of various types.
