And this misgendering bullshit is the same thing isn't it? Pushing people to participate in their delusions

Wow, a little penny has dropped with me regarding this. Just thinking about the language around 'misgendering'. How certain handmaidens women fall over themselves to ensure that they are using the 'correct pronouns' and instruct others to ensure they do the same.

I don't know, it's not like i didn't know it wasn't about power, but wow, some people are probably really getting off on everyone doing their bidding aren't they?

Ereshkigal · 31/07/2018 08:24

Yes.

AngryAttackKittens · 31/07/2018 08:26

That sound you hear in the background is most definitely the sound of many hands fapping.

JackyHolyoake · 31/07/2018 08:30

And Cursed E knows, because he has been told often enough in the past, that females have no way of knowing which males intend harm to them so we have to be cautious of all males until we are able to learn otherwise.

LemonJello · 31/07/2018 08:33

To anyone using the “don’t tar all transwomen with the same brush argument” I would ask: what facilities should Jess use now?

If the women’s- you are complicit in facilitating the very actions Jess has been suspended for- women do not consent to be flashed at or wanked beside in the toilets.

If not the women’s- how can we ensure transwomen like Jess are kept segregated?

LineRunner · 31/07/2018 08:37

Good question, Jello. And one that Penny Mordaunt will have to have an answer for at some point.

Turph · 31/07/2018 08:39

"In 2018, a crack one out unit was sent to prison by a military court for a wank they didn't commit. This transwoman promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the South Manchester underground. Today, still wanted by the government they survive as a soldier of Tumblr. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire Carter-Ruck."

BertrandRussell · 31/07/2018 08:58

As an aside, I find Owen Jones fascinating. I don’t think I have ever come across anyone who I simultaneously agree with and disagree with so profoundly depending on what he is talking about.

Yes. Which is why a woman's no is both so powerful and so unacceptable. So remember to say no as often as you can and without justifying it. Just say no. It's a complete sentence.

JackyHolyoake · 31/07/2018 09:13

Very well said LangCleg Smile

FermatsTheorem · 31/07/2018 09:17

Absolutely. Also, if you want to get the measure of a man, say no to him about something relatively minor and watch and listen carefully to what he does next.

This is the advice I give to all the girls in my sons' social circles about potential boyfriends. Say no (when it is safe) and see how they react. Then you'll know whether they're worth going out with or not.

R0wantrees · 31/07/2018 09:31

It is worth reiterating that there questions were being asked of Jess Bradley / Action for TRans Health prior to the current allegation which is being investigated by the NUS.

See Rose of Dawn's discussion,
'Radical far-left activists often co-opt unrelated movements to enforce their ideology on others. Here, I take a look at this phenomenon taking place in the trans community.'

I’ve started saying no more in life and in work, with no justifying and apologising. People’s reactions to it have varied massively. It’s been enlightening.

TheHopefulPuffin · 31/07/2018 09:47

It's always "transmisogyny" isn't it? Never "transmisandry". Despite some of those being referred to having nothing to do with "gyno" and some denying their "gyno".

Every grand pronouncement needs countering with "an individual heavily involved in advising institutions on measures that will erode the ability to safeguard vulnerable women and children has allegedly been found doing what they told an international news channel does not and would not happen".

I've lurked and occassionally commented (under a different username which weirdly went pooff a couple of weeks ago) for a long while now. I originally found this board looking for an explanation as to how I was conned by a narc who was very into trangressing boundaries by involving unwitting participants. Thank you to all the patient, knowledgable and funny contributors.

AngryAttackKittens · 31/07/2018 09:59

I feel like we need an "I survived my encounter with a male Cluster B" club, possibly with tshirts.

JackyHolyoake · 31/07/2018 10:05

AngryAttackKittens

Get one of the T-shirts from standing for women instead Wink

TransplantsArePlants · 31/07/2018 10:17

Bowl

I have also started saying no. It goes down way better than I ever could have anticipated. I feel a fool for not trying out this assertiveness lark years ago. But then I work with decent people. And I'm older so people don't patronise me as much

SunsetBeetch · 31/07/2018 10:21

Interesting chat featuring Tara Hewitt about incitement to hatred laws. Everything seems to be incitement to hatred for them though...

I think others will be submitting that misogyny should be treated as a hate crime to the APPG too.

Oscarino · 31/07/2018 10:33

I actually see a common drive between getting your cock out on a train and appearing on television saying that you identify as “a non-binary trans woman” and don’t believe there’s any such thing as a real woman.

The thrill of seeing what you can get away with, the feeling that you have something over the unsuspecting people (esp women) around you, and that frisson of excitement that comes from feeling that you may have pushed it too far and that this may be the time that you are challenged on your behaviour

It’s exhibitionism all the way down.

Viago · 31/07/2018 11:14

You MNers give great advice. I recently saw a woman say no to a man (actually she said wait 2 minutes). He started shouting at her and calling her a fucking bitch. 10 mins later he was nice as pie to me and some other women (not realising we had seen him with the first woman). Because I've been v fortunate I've never experienced abusive behaviour or someone flip like that, I don't think I really understood it before. I'm beginning to get it now.

SunsetBeetch · 31/07/2018 11:20

That's good news, JackyHolyoake

LaSquirrel · 31/07/2018 11:21

Finally caught up on the last few hundred comments, so apologies in advance for serial posting. Time Zone Impairment.

I thought Dottie's comment was interesting, about the twitter whistleblowing being 'from inside the building!'

Yes, it looks that way, doesn't it? I would read that situation as being some kind of bitter fall out, and that many have 'the dirt' on each other (hence a general wall of silence/cover-up). I suspect we will see a few more of these in years to come. It just depends on how much the whistleblower has to hide. And no, I don't believe at all in the altruistic motives stated. Fat chance.

On dickpic senders and flashers -
I agree with Donkey and thebewilderness - it is about the power, shock, revulsion (of the recipient/victim) that is tied up in the sexual thrill (for the perp only). It is primary reason they do it.

Also, the "peepers" (voyeurs), rather similar, in that it is the thrill of the (stealth) boundary violation that gets them off. It is all about the boundary violation in all of these cases, even though different methods of achieving it (one obvious 'in your face', the other stealth). And this is why many do progress to the 'ultimate' boundary violations - rape and/or murder. Power, control, boundary violation.

And Voice's observation of:
I don't think it's possible to be a naturist and an exhibitionist.
No, it's not.
