Selina, OK now this really IS pure speculation, but: at the Bristol WPUK meeting, there were masked TAs blocking the stairs and pushing people and so on. And there is a photo of one which (NB half masked and not that great a photo) looks a LOT like Bradley. But, there was a bit of twittering about how yes it looked awfully like but no, that one seemed to have been called Josh.

So.

One of the people on the stairs did look like Bradley, now you mention it.

BirthCanal · 30/07/2018 20:39

Someone did say she was a Bristol stair blocker yes. Which page? There are so many pages. Or was it twitter. I have a memory of this though.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/07/2018 20:42

The person who was blocked said on Twitter that the 'Posh boy' stairblocker was not Bradley.

SelinaCooper · 30/07/2018 20:43

Interesting, ovahere and themostbeautiful...

I caught myself thinking, why am I googling an NUS Officer, FGS? Am I part of some tin foil hat brigade? Have I lurked too long and fallen down too many twitter rabbit holes?

But this person is not a young student: they are 30, old enough to have moved around and have different identities and to have built up connections and influence. I want to know who they are and who they're connected to.

I have a teenage son who will likely be at university in a few years. A daughter moving up to Guides. This is more than a twitter scandal to me.

SophoclesTheFox · 30/07/2018 20:53

from footage of Jess talking, I would not say Jess has a posh accent, so I think this might be a reach too far.

Incidentally, this thread is spreading far and wide. I've just seen it referenced on Single Track World.

Time for a name change!

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 30/07/2018 20:57

The person who was blocked said on Twitter that the 'Posh boy' stairblocker was not Bradley.

She retweeted someone else saying that the person that had been on the Sky News programme (Bradley) "was the masked guy with the glasses in the stairwell at Bristol". I imagine that she has been careful not to say it explicitly (as have I; after all no one can be sure), but ...

spreading far and wide

Come and get me, Mr Carter and Mr Ruck.

Procrastinator1 · 30/07/2018 21:00

Somewhere on one of these threads is Posh Boy's Facebook page. One has a squint one does not.

The footage of the protest is disjointed and there was more than one protestor, but I think we need to be careful.

R0wantrees · 30/07/2018 21:00

Jess Bradley's 2017 manifesto for TNUS Trans Officer is impressive and worth reading.

nusdigital.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/document/documents/30685/4854ce3613dcb22ee5e2fa8ffc72363b/Jess_Bradley_NUS_Trans_Officer_Manefesto.pdf

it may also be of interest to note:
Jess Bradley was endorsed by Rowan Davies (Oxford)

Rowan Davies created the 'How to Deal with Terfs' slideshow, also held a NUS position (Women's Committee) & is a non-binary transwoman.

Emma Healy (disgruntled former MN intern) rushed to defend her friend Rowan Davies from the FWR discussion about the slideshow and the workshop run at the NUS conference after Rowan requested that 'cis people' might 'sort it out' for them.

OP OlennasWimple wrote:
"Warning: do not watch if you are prone to high blood pressure, as it will send it rocketing

I'm not sure what's the worst bit of it TBH: the likening of TERFs to fascists, the fact that this was used for training at the NUS conference, the appalling spelling and grammar, or the downright lies it contains."

When they hurried to deny being there on FB and claimed that only their allies and no actual transgenders were at Bristol in masks and black bloc garb threatening women on the steps I wondered if some of them had been recognized.

SanctimoniousMorph · 30/07/2018 21:02

As a couple of others have mentioned, I have to say that the Action for Trans Health account at Companies House seem to demonstrate that practically no money comes in or goes out. They've been in business for 4 years and their accounts show practically nothing.

But the Times article says:

Recent NHS-funded events and training organised by her group include a course on “trans cancer awareness” in Manchester and a “trans master class” in Wigan. ATH has been contracted for work by Manchester city council and is a consultation partner for NHS England.

Surely this would have involved some money changing hands so where does it go? I have seen a website for a parent/umbrella organisation for a number of transactivist organisations at some point so maybe the money is channelled through that?

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 30/07/2018 21:05

The footage of the protest is disjointed and there was more than one protestor, but I think we need to be careful

Yes indeed (on both points).

SanctimoniousMorph · 30/07/2018 21:06

One of the ones on the stairs does look like Bradley. At the time claims were made that one of the protesters was this individual called Josh (although I can't remember if this was confirmed or not). Apologies for more unwanted male nudity but at least it's todger-free:

Anlaf · 30/07/2018 21:10

Would it be helpful to have some stats on male vs. female convictions for exposure and voyeurism?

Data gubbins: In the sentencing statistics below, I'm not certain whether offenders have been registered under their birth sex, their legal gender, preferred gender. The stats are also for the principal (i.e. the offenders "worst") offence, so someone convicted of murder and flashing would appear under murder, and not exposure. Data comes from Ministry of Justice here www.gov.uk/government/statistics/criminal-justice-system-statistics-quarterly-december-2016

So, in England and Wales, over the period 2006 to 2016, there were an average of:

2 women sentenced per year for Voyeurism and Exposure
736 men sentenced per year, for Voyeurism and Exposure

In 2016 there were 4 women sentenced for V/E.

In 2016 there were 814 men sentenced for V/E.

Or if you like, men made up 99.71% of all people sentenced for V/E in 2006-16.

just noticed 2017 stats are now out, will have a nosey at numbers

YetAnotherSpartacus · 30/07/2018 21:13

Interesting post Selina!

JillyArmeeen · 30/07/2018 21:13

How careful do we actually need to be? As in could Carter Ruck come after us as individuals? How anonymous are we?
Obviously I'm talking about if libel were actually being committed, or is that nieve?
What about sharing the story on Facebook with comments? Am I being paranoid?
I am quite careful on fb after being reported, I suspect by activists of the Trans variety.
Just quite shocked and worried after seeing DjLippy being doxxed on twitter.

SelinaCooper · 30/07/2018 21:17

I've looked at the list of NUS officers and there is no Joshua Bradley listed for 2017-18, only a Jess Bradley. So I'm fairly sure this is the same person, not a new NUS officer. Why Jess would resign and Joshua then be appointed I don't know.

As for the person on the stairs, it's possible but guess we'll never know for sure. Probably best not to speculate...

EmpressOfSpartacus · 30/07/2018 21:17

I know people who were there & have said it definitely wasn't Bradley.

LangCleg · 30/07/2018 21:21

In 2016 there were 4 women sentenced for V/E.

I think at least one, if not two, of those may have been, well. Draw your own conclusion.

DonkeySkin · 30/07/2018 21:22

Thanks for that, Anlaf.

I also think it's a fairly safe bet that at least some of the individuals included as 'women' in those stats are male. So in reality the sex skew is probably higher than 99.71 per cent.

LineRunner · 30/07/2018 21:27

ATH has been contracted for work by Manchester city council and is a consultation partner for NHS England

Both Manchester City Council and NHS England would be obliged to provide this financial data and info under FoI, I believe.
