www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6003331/Britains-official-transgender-student-officer-suspended.html

"Shocking images on the site show an individual flashing while sitting in a train carriage, in a public park and at a bus stop.

Another photograph shows male genitals being exposed in an office close to a curved wooden desk that is strikingly similar to a picture of a work desk that Ms Bradley posted on her Facebook page. "

The photo have been archived on archive.is, you can search there under the domain exhbitionizm.tumblr.com and include lots of flashing shots.

Bradley has commented:

" I appreciate at this time there is a lot of speculation about my conduct and I am able to tell you that I am confident that none of my behaviour has been unlawful, and that I have not engaged in sexual activity with anyone, or in the view of anyone, without their consent. "

Co-opting black women again as a defence for Bradley Hmm

I've got a question. How do feminists feel about being on the same "side" as publications such as the Daily Mail in this debate? (Just seen BoreOfWhabylon's link). Is there a conflict there? It's a genuine question from a genuine female with no axe to grind, just really interested.

MipMipMip · 29/07/2018 15:17

Thanks Sarah.

I cannot work out what that tweet even means Ova. Confused

gendercritter · 29/07/2018 15:18

That's a pretty sickening tweet just as everyone online is talking about Nia Wilson and how black victims of violence are depicted as possibly dangerous/caught up in criminal lifestyles

Speaking personally, I'm uncomfortable with it. But I am also capable enough of critical thinking to realise that things aren't black and white. Just because the Mail is a bag of shite, doesn't mean that they are entirely incapable of on rare occasions producing good journalism. Just because Hitler was a vegetarian, doesn't mean all vegetarians are bad etc etc

NotTerfNorCis · 29/07/2018 15:29

How do feminists feel about being on the same "side" as publications such as the Daily Mail in this debate?

Hypothetically, if the Mail condemned a sex offender should feminists feel reluctant to also condemn the sex offender?

glassandahalf · 29/07/2018 15:31

There seem to be only 4 comments showing on the Mail website now - when did they all get removed?

OlennasWimple · 29/07/2018 15:33

@TobySinbadWalker can fuck off with his nonsensical tweeting and misappropriation of WOC (which JB is not in any way, shape or form)

likeacrow - it's an interesting question. There was a thread on here recently on pondering the "wrong side of history" narrative and whether GC feminists ever pause and think of they are indeed getting it wrong. My take is that even a stopped clock can be wrong twice a day. And sometimes groups may come at an issue from radically different angles and still reach the same conclusion, and that doesn't mean that it's "wrong"

In any case, this story has been reported fairly neutrally, not with a side dose of polemic about trans issues or nasty feminists. And TBH GC feminists are being silenced in so many ways right now, having a main stream publication prepared to talk about the issue is somewhat of a relief

Popchyk · 29/07/2018 15:34

I think the defence will be:

"Jess was pushed to breaking point by evil TERFs and Jess's mental health suffered as a result. This manifested itself in behaviour that was not ideal, but perhaps understandable given the huge stress that Jess was under."

Summat like that anyway.

How do feminists feel about being on the same "side" as publications such as the Daily Mail in this debate?...It's a genuine question from a genuine female with no axe to grind, just really interested.

This piece is in the Mail on Sunday, which is a different paper with a different editor.

I feel quite disappointed in some "lefty" media, FWIW.

Dacre (Daily Mail editor, apparently likes shouting CUNT at people) will shortly depart and will be replaced by Geordie Greig, the current editor of the Mail on Sunday. Will be interesting to see how/if the Daily paper editorial policy changes...

Floisme · 29/07/2018 15:36

I am not 'on the same side' as any newspaper. I am tribal about some sport and that is all.

I'm sure you think you're making a logical point, but you're not. Bad behaviour, law-breaking, sex offending should all be condemned by all people, whether left or right wing.

I occasionally agree with something a Tory says.

BirthCanal · 29/07/2018 15:39

Agreed notterf

There are a range of political points of view expressed by the British press, but none of our main papers condones outright violence; for example, or, indeed, flashing on the streets of London.

twitter.com/jbpersonalbrand?lang=en

This is her twitter. I don't know why she isn't receiving more of a backlash, there's only a few comments on her "apology".

ILikeyourHairyHands · 29/07/2018 15:42

I've just Tweeted Owen Jones asking if he has any comments.

I wait with baited breath...

ILikeyourHairyHands · 29/07/2018 15:43

Ahem, bated. (Although maybe baited is appropriate in this context).

BirthCanal · 29/07/2018 15:43

Wonder what the guardian will say? Or will they ignore it? I do hope Owen sees the mock up column and wish I could be there to see his face.

BirthCanal · 29/07/2018 15:44

Come on, don't be shy! Please do tell us where this fits in the pantheon of This Never Happens. Is it Fake News, No True Trans, Fitup by Evil T**Fs, or Dysphoria Induced Flashing?

Oh Sophocles, this was inspired!

AgonyBeetle · 29/07/2018 15:45

You can flip that around to say that when even the likes of the Daily Mail are agreeing with the points that RadFems are making, then you know there can’t be any coherent counter argument.

If you were to talk to Justine she'd tell you that MN is a nest of vipers and there is no sense of allegiance just because DM is reporting a story that is arousing interest here. Likewise Sunday Times.

VickyEadie · 29/07/2018 15:50

That tweet by Toby whatsit earlier:

"misgendering Jess DESPITE Jess's behaviour..."

I can't decide whether Toby doesn't know what 'despite' means or whether Toby (careful with those pronouns, now!) thinks Jess's behaviour is fine...

EmpressOfSpartacus · 29/07/2018 15:57

Anyone who likes their penis enough to display it in public does not come across as dysphoric.

HermioneWeasley · 29/07/2018 15:57

That people defend the rights of men like this to have access to women when vulnerable and undressed is appalling.

TheGoddessFrigg · 29/07/2018 15:57

Well, if someone's waving their cock at you - it's easy to misgender them Wink
